There for two days and then left.... Took lift with a truckie and guess what was on his truck 'The western star' It had to be fate. There were four of us in this particular truck so had to take it in turns to be able to sleep as drove straight through! $.30am was my designated time for 4 hours god I was tired. Got to mount Isa next day and spent three days doing very little but swimming... flight from there to Windorah on 22nd December. [View Full Entry]

the western star

So found a job in roadhouse 300ks away from darwin doing what have been doing slaving in hot conditions in a pub/kitchen. Yey.... the good thing though was that me and Jess shared work, it wasn't just Jess doing all the hard work and me sitting on my lazy arse all day flirting with all the punters (of which there were none in whole 3weeks). Unfortunately we worked seperate shifts so any fun things we could do we couldn't (neither of us was going trekking into the outback on a walk in bush). So we either worked and sweated, read our [View Full Entry]

SO feeling big we started for darwin with hangovers! Only 80ks. The car was noticably bigger than most other cars we felt cool and evryone stared at us. So pulled in round beaches we headed to main beach to cool down and lo and behold we were not allowed to swim due to there being box jelly fish in the water and it looked so pristine and blue and we hadnt seen the sea in three months so we were very very very upset. So we had to have a shower which was refreshing and then headed into the city which [View Full Entry]

WOW WOW WOW WOW. We couldn't face going straight into Darwin. Driving for five days over 2500kms and we needed some time out and entering a city after being in middle of nowhere was extremely daunting. So we got to Batchelor 100ks south of Darwin and stayed in camp site very close. An early night after fun packed day and we were off to sleep. The next day early start and went to see the wonders of untouched australia before they built all these cities somewhere where the aboriginals probably lived many years ago! imagine living off this land! I could [View Full Entry]

Imagine driving in 40degree heat with no air con in middle of nothingness singing to yourselves because the crap pink cd player chews through batteries like nobodys business in two Cds (was cheapest thing and even had microphone with it which was thrown out). Jessies favourite comment being 'theres water there' as not used to seeing much water and both of us falling asleep in passenger side. Then sweaty and exhausted you stumble on this a tropical spring where the oficers of the army used to chill out. Surrounded by noises of crickets, flying foxes (bats), and water trickling! The water [View Full Entry]

hmmmm

Where salt water crocodiles start living well furthest point south they are! So when crossing a river to get there at night and then realising that the next day we were a little perturbed to say the least. The place is tiny and yes in rainy season a river crosses road.... the pub is covered in memorable items like notes from around the world and photo ID of people that have visited here. We spent a few minutes looking around outside before entering Daly Waters to turn out car lights and wonder around in dark looking at stars. If I say [View Full Entry]

And we left camooweal which was 15ks south of border and entered northern territory. Then we stayed in tennants creek overnight and planned to go to the devils marbles the next day. And these were amazing formed by wtaer going through sandstone and forming these rocks which balance on each other [View Full Entry]
