| 26th October 2009 kirsten knight | Hello! - From: Kgalahadi Transfrontier Park Photos Oh my god, a very BELATED CONGRATS on your wedding! Looks amazing! I haven't been getting your updates because I changed my e-mail address after homechoice going mad, being taken over by tiscali and my e-mail address vanishing into the ether! but I perservered and today found it again, and have been catching up on all your news! Looks absolutely amazing, you're living the dream as they would say on one of these cheesy American talent shows! I'm glad that you were in Jo'burg in July and not in June because that is when I was there for my annual work trip. I would have been gutted if we were just streets away without knowing it!! So how much longer are you two out there for? Are you qualified? How many more countries do you get to visit as part of your travels/training? My new e-mail address is knightkirsten@googlemail.com. Can you sign me up to receive your alerts please? I'll try and do it too via the website, it'll work somehow! I'll be in SA again next year - likely Cape Town and Jo'burg, but not in June due to football fever, probably March time. Maybe we can hook up somewhere!! Anyway, keep on having fun! Byeeeee Kirsten PS still doing photography with Rachael, and no, haven't been back to any awards ceremonies!!! |

| 19th July 2009 tracyleswell | Congratulations! - From: A wedding, the wild, eight trout and some elephants Hi to you both, The photos look fab. Wish I had been there to see it. That will be some tale to tell the grand-kids. Did the mums have a great time? Looks like they did. So not homesick for England then? Your not missing much, just crap weather, swine flu and recession. Finally finished school yesterday after 3 really busy weeks. Really looking forward to having some me time now. Spent last Thursday at the hospital with Becky. She decided to sew her finger rather than the material while in her textiles lesson. Her teacher had kindly removed the foot on the machine that holds the needle in place and told her it would be easier. 7 hours later, finally removed broken needle from her finger (had gone right through). Kelsey still at Sainsburys, but looking for a different job as she is beginning to get fed up with early start. Driving lessons going ok but costing her a fortune. Tom just finished second year but has decided to change courses and is thinking about going into TEACHING! Anyway what's next for you both are you going to stay in Africa longer? Keep in touch Love tracy X |

I so want to me out there with you experiencing such a wonderful time. We have just returned from a two week ski holiday in Whistler, Canada. We have had a lovely time and really struggling to cope with the work load and awful depression in the UK. You certainly chose the right time for your adventures. I will continue to read the blog with interest and great envy. I have to say, I don't envy you with the shower and facilities - I hope this won't be what I face in May !!! Take care both of you. Love Andrea |

| 13th January 2009 Thomas | Ola - From: Week 20 - Bhanga Nek Hi Guys, I know you said not to reply but I felt compelled. Two things spring to mind; 1. The fact you have done qualifications to do thd dangerous animal guiding thing is amazing, I'm really proud of you and have already relayed this to a few of my friends. Well done you sound like you are having a blast! 2. Matt, why are you still so fat? mate, I would have though that rations, and limited food that you would have lost weight. Or is it that you were so tremendolously fat before you went that you have lost a lot of weight, but still appear whale like? I'm baffled. Take care guys, and I'm assuming you won't come back (I wouldn't if I were you), but if you do, I can't wait to catch up with you. T x p.s. Louise and Joe moved out last week, but the worst thing was that they took the cat with them. I miss her so much! Who would have thought it, at least I get to see Joe, but man, that cat might as well have been squashed by a garbage truck. |
| 13th January 2009 teresa | glad it was a happy one... - From: Week 19 - KZN Christmas I also had Xmas braaing...albeit at a pool... A white Christmas seems very unappealing. Looking forward to hearing about the Mozambique leg! Love to you both Teresa |
| 11th November 2008 anonymous | - From: Week 10, 11 & 12 - Elephants and ‘Bush Goggles’ HILARIOUS!!! More stories please!!! He's the most lovely person on Earth but, still, bless him, hapless.... there's a bestseller in there somewhere! -Chris Fan |
| 30th October 2008 Maya Moo | - From: Week 9 - Cheetah Capture who is this chris? he sounds HILARIOUS! your pictures are amazing and I think you are all so brave! |
| 29th October 2008 Andrea | The Cheetahs are beautiful! - From: Week 9 - Cheetah Capture I have just managed to find some time to read your blog. Wow, so much has been happening since I last looked. You guys are having such an amazing experience although i shudder to see the snakes and scorpions. I absolutely loved the last story about the cheetahs - aren't they beautiful - you are both so lucky to come into such close contact with the magical animals. Bit scared of the shooting and the skills you have managed to acquire - steady chaps!! take care and keep posting your experiences. We love to see them whilst we sit in ice and snow and full of stress and exhaustion! Andrea |
| 20th October 2008 Dave | - From: Week 8 - Dangerous Animal Knowledge Think the shooting knowledge will stand Sandra in good stead when she goes back to inner city teaching!! |
| 2nd October 2008 Teresa | Sounds fabulous! - From: Week 6 and 7 - Cape Town to Ulovane I'm glad you're having a good time - exams once a week sounds high pressure... Look out for the boomslang (and the other beasties)! |
| 16th September 2008 Paul | You missed a bit... - From: Week 5 - Tea for Two Have a missed a post? What happened to the stubble masquerading as a beard? |
| 11th September 2008 Mike Golby | Cat's Nails at Cape Point - From: Week 3 - The Cape of Storms The red plant goes by the name of Hyobanche Sanguinea or, more colloquially, Cat's Nails or Inkplant. It's a form of fynbos, found in sandy, coastal areas from Cape Point to Namibia. It's a decidedly weird-looking plant. I discovered the name a few days ago, having come across fields of it covering the plain above the Thomas T. Tucker - I'd stumbled across it infrequently till then. Right now, I'm looking for the name of a wreck north of the Tucker, visited this past Saturday after the storm. Between it and the Tucker (and to the south of that the Nolloth, is the boiler of another ship, the name of which I also haven't a clue). It's a beautiful, but wild place. I hope you enjoyed your stay and plan on returning sometime soon... |
| 7th September 2008 Lee Parish | - From: Week 3 - The Cape of Storms yes sandra, schools are back and yes nothing has changed, year 7 are still tiny with blazers that are too big! landy looks fabulous, im just a little worried at the positioning of the tent! is it designed to keep you up high out of the way of any passing lions?!?! |
| 7th September 2008 Mum (Sheila) | Tache - From: Week 3 - The Cape of Storms Matt that 'tache is awful but give it a few weeks and you can get some handelbars. poor Sandra!!! |
| 3rd September 2008 Teresa | Ha! Isn't google great... - From: Week 3 - The Cape of Storms I found you. Sorry your weather's stormy. Here in sunny Scotland we are basking in weak sunlight with a howling gale. Sheila is up for the week and it's great to see her. A landy... grrrrrrrrrrrr.... |
| 2nd September 2008 katherine ward | great read! - From: Week 3 - The Cape of Storms Michael Palin's got nothing on you two, however Sandra's entries are a little shorter! Anyway good to see you're well and thinking of you while stuck in the wonder of Canon Palmer. Stay safe and enjoy! x |
| 2nd September 2008 Dave B | - From: Week 3 - The Cape of Storms It looks like someones tent has just been swept away and stuck onto your Land Rover or is it meant to hang precariously on the end? Answers on a postcard to "Oh F**k my tents blown away, 1 South africa" |
| 28th August 2008 Colin | Wishing you well - From: Week 2 - Land Rovers and Cape Point Brilliant blog!! Goatee is clearly growing rapidly and the bandanna must cover a full afro by now!?? Good to see that its has to be a Land Rover that you are putting your faith (and money) into - one of the many benefits of the Empire! Keep it coming and may the force be with you both - for The Journey. Andy leaves the bank tomorrow so we will be down the pub in Bristol thinking of you both, tomorrow. Cheers! |
| 27th August 2008 davebradleylfc | The hairy Biker!! - From: Week 2 - Land Rovers and Cape Point beard & bandanna is either one of the hairy bikers or a throwback to some 1990's Balkan warlord (Going for the 1st option myself!!!) |
| 26th August 2008 Thomas Swanson | Week 2! - From: Week 2 - Land Rovers and Cape Point Wow, you've certainly been fitting in a lot of stuff, Matt keep up the good work on the blog, it's really nice to hear about all the various things you've been up to and seen. Re the photo's there are a number of things that spring to mind, but I'll keep it brief(!). Matt you look totally different but taking photos to honour Takis Martakis is odd. Sandra, I am always ready in about 5 minutes as Matt will testify, he always had a ready comment or two about my sartorial elegance, eg, ' is that your grandads shirt/jumper/jeans etc'. It was always highly amusing and never boring, eh Matt?! Lastly yes I always compliment Louise on her outfit otherwise I'd never get out the house!! On a more serious note, keep up the blog and photos, it's really interesting to see somewhere else of the world with first hand commentary and also look after the mutt!!! (I'm talking about the Dog not Matt....... ; - ) T x |
| 24th August 2008 tracy leswell | monkey business - From: Week 2 - Land Rovers and Cape Point Tell Matt that I think his twin got the good looks! So envious. You look like your having a blast. Sent a private email but dont know if I did it properly. Please let me know if you received it. By the way I can now text. |

| 22nd August 2008 Thomas Swanson | Ola - From: Leaving and arriving Dear both, Glad to see you're there save and sound and seem to be settling into 'the life'!! Sounds like you are going to have a great time, so make the most of it.....it certainly beats london. Also Sandra, you want to have a word with Matt about that bandanna, one word, ridiculous! Adios Tom |
| 21st August 2008 Mum | loving the blog - From: Leaving and arriving Hi-we are loving the blog and especially the photos. the weather sounds wonderful and sooooooo much better than ours-keep up the training |
| 19th August 2008 Katherine Ward | What can I say but ........ - From: Leaving and arriving You lucky b******s! It's rained for 4 weeks solid in 'sunny' Durham, spent most of my time willing the sun to come out and to top it off it's back to the pleasure dome in less than 2 weeks - I hate you (lol) Take care and stay safe! xxx |
