25 Feb 2010: 10:00 PM IST ---------------------------------- I started to Goa by the Konkan Kanya Express from Mumbai. I rushed to the Mumbai CST in the night as the train leaves by 11 o clock in the night. I had reserved for a sleeper class for myself and my friend and all we got was that our tickets were not confirmed but only had a RAC and so we need to wait until we get some luck with us. Almost at midnight we got the berths and I was feeling damn sleepy that I picked up the upper berth and I slept. It was like 7 in the morning when I woke up and we learnt that the station Thivim will be reached at around 9:30 AM as we need to get down at Thivim which ... read more
At Linz This time I am on my official trip. Well Linz is also a nice place it is situated midway between Salzburg & Vienna and it is the fourth largest city in Austria I believe. I stayed in the hotel Landgraf and my office Comneon is at Freidstadstrasse which is about 2 tram stops from my Hotel. As Austria adjoins Germany, the culture in Linz is much like Germany and also a mixture of Slavian states. This time I had to do more of work and moreover I didn't have much time to roam around the city and I hated roaming alone so I spent my time in the hotel. The hotel was run by a British lady who married a Bengali and she was so kind to me. The hotel receptionsit was Sandra ... read more
12 Oct 2002 On the morning of Saturday that Pinak and myself went to book the bus tickets to Mangalore. We first went to DRDO complex and then Indiranagar but we could not get the tickets, as it was the festive season. Pooja festival was on. Then we went to Ulsoor when we were told that we could get tickets if we go to majestic. So we went to Sharma travels in Majestic and asked for tickets. But to our dismay he said that he doesn’t have any tickets but for the cabin seats. When we were thinking what to do, he called us and said that he got 3 tickets but was a bit costlier. Anyways as we decided to go to Mangalore we decided that we will execute as planned and hence we bought ... read more
In Paris, France Paris (called as Pari in French) is a spectacular city. It is big, lovely and pompous. It has got the oldest metro rail network system in Europe and every place in Paris is connected by trains. The rail map is quite complicated but once you get it you could reach anyplace anytime easily just by planning with the map. It is a fashionable city and lotsa of beautiful girls. Actually we landed in Paris during the holidays and we couldn't get rooms in the youth hostel. We got stuck up as we had nowhere to go and we were trying every possible way of spending the night in Paris when we came across a hotel that accomodated us for a pretty cheaper money, I believe it was Euro 40 per day per ... read more
In Salzburg I had been to Austria twice, once when I was in Germany I had a Shengen Visa and hence visited Austria as a tourist, and the second time it was my official trip to Comneon. I enjoyed the first time I went. Actually it started like this, we wanted to go to Werfen and to the Konigsee Islands (Infact Konigsee lake is the largest freshwater lake in Germany). When I went for the first time, I went with Guzza to Salzburg and because I had a company I could enjoy well but the second time it was work, work, work and hence I really could not enjoy much. This really fitted well the rhyme "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Ok, first letme talk about my first trip and then ... read more
My first foreign trip Actually Germany is the first country that I visited outside India. It was on official purpose only (actually all my trips abroad is taken during an official trip only). I was so glad, the very thought of visiting one of the developed nations of Europe made me very happy and the fatherland that was once ruled by Hitler added to my eagerness. The day was Sunday March 10, 2002 when I boarded the Lufthansa flight from Bangalore to Frankfurt. I was traveling alone and people scared me of all the procedures that I need to follow, but it was all simple you know at the airport, there were clear signs of what to do and what not, how to go everything. Only one that confused me was the baggage claim, I don't ... read more
