We flew to a little known Melbourne Airport, cheap flight! It was basically a big tin shed in the middle of knowhere...I'd hate to be delayed there on an outgoing flight (see upcoming Brisbane blog!!!!) Anyway, we found a decent hostel, and dumped our bags and walked over to the MCG! Not sure why i keep going to see these cricket grounds, not really a fan, suppose they're quite impressive tho! After that i gathered every music paper i could find, and searched for local gigs, and managed to find one, been missing gigs a lot! Went out for a few [View Full Entry]

Sorry for the delay in uploading blogs, had a photo issue, in that Royston dropped his laptop, and as i was lazy backing photos up to disc, there was a week when we thought ALL the photos had been lost........ Turns out they are safe, and Royston 'Rockerfella' Roy has upgraded to a shiny new Apple Mac Laptop!!!! Right, Sydney was AGES ago, so i'll try to remember what i did, as best i can.... I remember landing and checking Holroyd into his rather swish hotel, the tight bugger didn't pay for us to stay in a swish apartment this time, [View Full Entry]

HERE IT IS AGAIN....WITH PICTURES!! So, another new country. We landed in Darwin after an overnight flight, had to wait an hour, and flew on to Cairns. Found a really good dorm, $25 a night tho, each. Australia is freakishly expensive!! A twix costs £1.50! Oh, and Aussie beer is horrendous, really bad! I had a good look around on the first 2 days, relaxing at the hostel and checking out the town! The weather was amazing, 30 degrees and the bluest skies i've ever seen! Holroyd had flew to Brisbane from Singapore, and met us 2 days later! He had [View Full Entry]

On the front in Cairns!!

Singapore then. I can safely say, if you're travelling the world on a budget, don't go! It's so expensive!!! However, i did get to meet up with the parentus for 5 days, which was really cool! We arrived on Wednesday, and my parents were already there, safely holed up in their luxury 5 star resort on Raffles Buelevard. We found the cheapest hostel in town, still $25 dollars each a night!!!!!!! It was in Little India, about 15 minutes away on the underground! Actually, the underground in Singapore is superb! Met the folks that night, and we had some food and [View Full Entry]

So, from Cambodia, back to Thailand, and Bangkok, and like moths to a flame we headed straight for the Kohsan Road! We had 6 days till the flight to Singapore, so decided to do the stuff we never did the first time around, ie, the tourist stuff! This blog won't be too long, mainly because Bangkok was a week ago and i've forgot much of what i did! When we first arrived we noticed it was a lot hotter, slap bang in the middle of the hottest period, so mid to high 30's was the norm. There were also a lot [View Full Entry]

Got the bus over to Siem Reap, nice little town, used by people going to the Angkor Temples. I've already put my Angkor blog up, so i won't mention the temples here, thought i'd best split them up, lots of Angkor photos!! Had a look around the markets on the first day, and went out at night for the City game! Ended up having a biggun, and no-one was showing the City game, good job, we got beat again, they've prety much lost every game i've seen since i've been away!! Ended up playing some drinking games (not a patch on [View Full Entry]

Temples of Angkor - HUGE!!! Asia » Cambodia » North » Angkor
We were up & out early to rent our bikes for the day. As i thought it would be a lot of off road biking i opted for a beast of a mountain bike with suspension and really fat tyres............ terrible idea, 95% was road cycling, and the big fat tyres made it like cycling through treacle... but for $2 a day, can't complain. Its a good 8k to the main Angkor gate, and we arrived about 8.30am, and went to a little food stall, where i had a pork noodle soup. Really nice, and i got to eat something, that [View Full Entry]

11 hours worth of bouncy Cambodian buses later and i'm in Battambang, the countries second largest city.........with approximately 3 bars!!!! Found a really good hotel with HUGE rooms, massive, and only $4 each!! It was already early evening, so we went straight out for food, and found a really good place. I ordered Beef Volcano. Basically really good raw beef, salad, rice & a chilli peanut sauce, oh and a cooking device, so again, i got to cook my own food!! Had a beer with the food, but failed to find any other bars to continue, so called it a night. [View Full Entry]

Made it safely to Kampot on the bouncy bus, and fouind some digs..... Went for a walk around and soon discovered there was nobody at all in Kampot, nobody! It's ok tho, i'd planned to go Trekking in Bokor National Park, 40km away, the only reason i picked Kampot. Went to book, and was told Bokor has been closed for about a year, and will be for about another 2 years as they are re-doing the roads. It was possible to trek, but this involved bribing, and it was way out of my league...... So after a few beers, in an [View Full Entry]

Managed to cross the border safely into Cambodia, another new country........... Carried on the bus till i reached Phnom Penh. There are 2 main backpacker areas, one by the lake, one by the river, opted for the river and searched for a hostel. Found a decent place, albeit a little far out. Was early afternoon so decided to go for a walk to get my bearings. Must admit i wasn't immediately won over by Phnom Penh. Very different to Ho Chi Minh City where i'd just come from. I walked along the riverfront and saw a guesthouse just off the front, [View Full Entry]
