February 4th 2006

Well that's what my sister said. And my parent's were paying so why not! In exchange, I removed my eyebrow piercing, so everyone's happy now. India was WOW WOW WOW. We went to discover out roots and learnt alot. Like Christianity started in India in 52AD. My dad's Vettuparampil house is 350+ years old and the land has been in their possession for over 500 years. Syrian Christians have a Syrian ethic link, not just cultural. I saw elephants, bisons, monkeys in the wild (the safari was 777km square - larger than whole of Singapore!). And I ate lots of curry. The food was so good, I don't think I can ever eat an ordinary curry again. In all, I was completely blown away. It was one week of sensory overload. Words cannot describe India. ... read more

Hogmany Edinburgh 2005/6. Woohoo. Great party. We celebrated NZ's new year at 10am, then Aussie, then a whole bunch more. Met some really crazy fun people and had a blast. Edinburgh is cool. Evidentally it's easy to understand the Scottish accent if you are drunk.... read more

Haven't seen my family for 2 1/2 years. They live in another country of course. So I was excited to spend my birthday and x'mas with them. Stayed at my sister's house which is a MANSION. We did a family holiday to Langkawi Island with was gorgeous. The boat trip through some mangrove swamps was very cool. Back to Kuala Lumpur and did some shopping, eating and visiting family.... read more

Another couchsurfing adventure. Lithuania was friggin awesome. Seems like a cross of Denmark with Poland. i.e. Every other chic is beautiful, people are very well dressed, suprisingly very modern and clean BUT dirt cheap. Like £1 for beer, £1 for shots, dinner was £2.50. Kaara and her friends are amazing. We spent the weekend drinking, eating, playing pool, going to a blind museum, watched a children's play, a walking tour of the city, to an underground rave, afterparty with drum & bass djs and more. I think we did more stuff in one weekend than some people do in an entire year!! One of the best weekends ever. Deffo keen to go back.... read more

I first heard about Couchsurfing.com from this American guy I met in Spain. It sounded so crazy, that I had to check it out. ---- Thursday night. Dave whom I've met through Couchsurfing, meets me at the airport. I think it amazing how an absolute stranger can be so generous and hospitable. You spend five minutes with him and you think you've known him for years. We go out to town. I try my first Irish Guinness. I like the feeling of doing something for the very first time. We go to a club. Dublin people are nice - friendly, conservative but with a good sense of humor. Friday. I spend the day on a City tour. Excellent way to see the city. I stop off at the Guinness Brewery and spend a few hours there. ... read more

Oh OK! Oktoberfest with the boys. This was a wild time. ie. Running with the Bulls minus the possibilty of being maimed. A crazy wild time, ending up being dared to eat an egg whole (with shell), A4 piece of paper and other stuff I can't remember. I also ended up with 16 steins (yes, not a typo). But I gave most of them away. Good times. German beer is yummy.... read more

You'd think there's only so many times you can keep going back to one place! This trip was a bit of a disaster. Missed my flight again! Trains at Liverpool St had broken down so tried to take a cab but it was peak hour so there was little chance. London's transport is great...when it works. This fiasco cost me an extra £100 in all, so I was not at all please. Cest la vie. So anyway, FINALLY got to Amsterdam and met Camilla and Mareike again. It was a fun weekend. Jessica (my flatmate) and Ally just happened to be there too, which was great. Went on a cycling tour after visiting a coffeeshop which ended up being an extremely bad idea. ie. was about 2 seconds away from being knocked down by a car. ... read more

aka. best party of my life Saturday Day 1 - The bus ride. I'm still ill so not very fun. Sunday Day 2 - We arrive at the campsite. It's hot and sunny so we get drunk by the pool. Yay! Monday Day 3 - We do the tour of Pampolona. Get to know Adi, Jesus, Chris, Uncle G, Mike, etc. Tuesday Day 4 - San Sebastian trip. Gorgeous. I realise that our hostel room group must be the best room ever. We play Circle of Death. Wednesday Day 5 - Opening ceremony. We get trampled and then trashed in the plaza. Go Don Simon (ie. cheap sangria). Thursday Day 6 - First run. And I'm the first in the arena. Before the bulls are released. But it was awesome running into an arena with thousands ... read more

May 23rd 2005

Another Ryanair weekend. I visit Frank (Isabel's old flatmate) in Bochum. Visiting Frank was a crazy adventure. Bochum is like this tiny armpit village. Lots of greenary, which is nice. But you feel there is little civilisation out there. Frank and his friends are the death metal, weed smoking crowd which is...interesting. Anyway the party was cool and then back home. Unfortunately, we went the wrong way to the airport and turned up 1 min late! And they wouldn't let me check it even though the person in front was still checking in. How anal. Ah well, can't win them all. So I spent the night in the airport and flew home the next day. ... read more

Okay my titles are starting to get painfully cheesy. I went to visit Susan and Pancho in Madrid. Madrid is beautiful, rich in culture and history. And sun! And people know how to enjoy life - sangria, siesta, talking the streets. Amazing. ... read more
