Ah, as usual it has been a while between entries! And it has been a long, snowy, cold & very unusual few months for me. At this stage I can basically say I have endured a full Canadian winter; battling with -35 degree days, waist deep powder, snowboard injuries, roadtrips, frostbite, cross country skiing, snow fires! Luckily for me I fell into an awesome job which allowed me to make the most of being on a working holiday as I could take time off when I wanted. Ultimate Ski & Ride has been my workplace for the last 5 months where I worked as a "rental technician". Such a fun chilled out job with great people. I learnt loads about the technical side of skis & snowboards, fitted people out with equipment & chatted away with ... read more

Just a few photos to give a visual representation of my life over here. Some are from summer & autumn which have been left behind, while the rest are more recent showing off my wonderful winter shenanigans. All of them, however, have formed magical, lasting memories of my time in Canada so far.... read more

Aloha friends & family! As time seems to do around here, it has yet again got away from me & I am left with much to update you all on! I will spare the boring details & try and make this entry as exciting & spicy as possible! From my last entry until a few weeks ago my life in Banff went something like this: - 3 weeks of unemployment & job hunting - random hiking adventures and trips to lake louise, calgary, edmonton and Banff surrounds. - Some lovely visits from friends near and far - And a fun month or so working as a barista at a coffee shop called Evelyn's. I worked with great people and learnt the basics of latte art! - 23rd birthday celebrations - Crazy, crazy, crazzzzy Halloween celebrations (a ... read more

Banff. Such a phenomenal place! Even though I was hell bent against coming & settling here (or whistler or anywhere where all the Aussies flock) I now realise why all the Australians and other internationals and tourists make there way to this place - it's amazing! The hub of the Canadian Rockies, Banff is a small alpine town nestled in the mountains, with the Bow River flowing through the centre & a fun place to explore, party & meet people. Upon getting my waterslide attendant job at Douglas Fir Resort, I moved all my stuff (a backpack & a tent) down to my new staff accommodation on Muskrat St... which is parallel to Otter St & Buffalo St & cuts through Caribou St, Wolf St and Moose St...oh it's not too far from Squirrel St and Bear ... read more

G'day all, Hope things in your lives are wonderful! I would love to hear from all of you, so update me with your happenings!! Calgary Folk Festival -- Ok, so my buddy Rach came and met me in Calgary and we ventured off to the Calgary Folk Festival for a couple of days! It was such a fantastic music festival. During the day time they created collaborations of 3-4 different bands on stage where they all were up there together jamming away, completely improvising. I LOVED these sets... we saw a few fantastic acts including the Cat Emprire, an Israeli band and an African band, all on stage together busting out some serious grooves. The Swell Season were also phenomenal, such powerful performers & I particuarly loved when Glen Hansard (lead singer) told the crowd to ... read more

Wow! It has certainly been far too long since i've updated the world of my travels and it may prove difficult to do it in detail as alot has been happening since the last blog entry (probably for the better as it will eliminate uneccesary and painful ramblings for you guys!!). So my time in Edmonton was a blast! Although the initial plan was to spend only a week or two catching up with a few mates, something about the city had me hooked and I think I ended up being based there for at least 5 weeks! I'm not entirely sure where the 5 weeks went but for the most part I just caught up with old buddys and made several new ones; enjoyed the sunshine and all of Edmontons green spaces/parks; dinking on bicycles ... read more

Ok so a brief update: I finished up my time in Tofino & since the last time i wrote on here there were many more fun adventure had in that place..more camping, more hiking, sunsets, beach time... It is really a fabulous place! I headed off towards Nanaimo which is further south on Vancouver Island to catch up with Leslie, a friend i met in Australia. She lives with her parents on one of the gulf islands called Gabriola. Such an amazing island with only 4000 residents most of which are artists, musicians or hippies of some form. It was awesome catching up with Les and she showed me an amazing time. We went camping with some of her buddys, explored the island & went hiking up a mountain (even though it wasn't the right one.. ... read more

Hello all you crazy people that i love! I hope things are cruising along well for you all. I'm still here in Tofino and I am having the most ridiculously great time. I met up with the wwoofing team and headed in to the Esowista community to get started on their garden. The organisation of this whole volunteer thing has been very loose but i have enjoyed the freedom that has given us. I'm working with another volunteer, Maria, who has been living in Canada for 9 years. She's originally from Russia and we get on really well which has made this experience awesome! Our first day involved the construction of the raised beds and a long wait for the soil to arrive. We met some local guys Cory and Shaun who were helping with the ... read more

Well, it's only been a week and a half or so since leaving the sunny shores of Oz but i'm already having a phenomenal time! I firstly had 3 days in Taipei with my cousin Jens. With next to no expectation of what this city would be like I was no doubt impressed with what it had to offer! Having Jens as an amazing local tour guide & being able to speak Mandarin definitely made life easy & allowed me to see the real local hot spots. The days were spent seeing the sights, swimming in hot springs, exploring the city, eating delicious foods & checking out museums, temples & markets. It's a really beautiful & mountainous city; and very modern, stylish & BIG! On my second night we met up with a crew of Jens's ... read more

Leaving tomorrow! Holy smokes. I'm so pumped! Just a matter of cramming a heap of stuff into my backpack & i'll be ready & raring to go! Passport hasn't expired (unlike last time I tried to leave the country!), my bank balance is topped up & the van is no longer in my name so there won't be any surprise speeding fines coming to me! Unlucky Georgia haha!!! I had a fantastic last weekend in the Gong & will miss life there ridiculously. You Gongians are a special, crazy breed & truly amazing. We've definitely had some epic times! I'll be back... one day! For now though I'm so keen for what Canada has in store for me. I'm having 3 days in Taiwan with my cousin then off to Vancouver on ANZAC day. Funny enough ... read more
