Having been in LA for six months--for work--my workmates and I got all the time in the world to paint the town red. We did not mind spending a few extra bucks to spend weekends in every nook and cranny of LA; besides, our friend Dessa so generously took us around. We owe her. A lot. And the experience... it was all worth it! Allow me to list the places we have been to: * Universal Studios * Hollywood * Six Flags Magic Mountain Theme Park * Santa Monica Pier * UCLA - University of California Los Angeles * Griffith Park [View Full Entry]

Welcome to Las Vegas, the most interesting city I have been to in the US of A. It's true! Las Vegas is the disneyland for adults. It is the Entertainment Capital of the World. I truly enjoyed the sights; though, ofcourse, I am against prostitution and gambling. Walking the Las Vegas strip was a lot of fun. I like the colorful lights, the extravagant effects on outdoor shows at the hotels, and the varied themes in each and every hotel in the strip. I was lucky to enjoy Las Vegas twice! I remember stopping over Las Vegas, on my trip [View Full Entry]

This is one travelling tale I will never forgot. Days before this trip to Dallas, I phoned a transport service company to pick me up from my boss' house (which is on top of a hill) to LAX. I had to pay around 80 bucks, if I remember it right. So at around 10pm, the service van picked up from San Bernardino. I brought with me my huge luggage because I figured I have a lot of clothes to bring since I will be staying there for a few days during the Christmas holiday. I feel like already going home [View Full Entry]

I thought I would never see San Francisco again, but news from my boss came. He said he'd let us (Lyn, Glen, and Jon) use the company car and drive up north to San Jose for Thanksgiving. He gave us instructions to get to the house of Maam Marilla, one of the BOD of our company. Weeee! Lyn was the official driver. They didn't want me to drive and I do not understand why. Am I that bad a driver? Hee hee. OK. Maybe I'm for NASCAR but still I don't run over stray dogs or whatever! Anyway... Driving from [View Full Entry]

It has only been a month since I arrived in America; and my cousin in San Franciso already got me tickets to visit her over the weekend! I was thrilled! Truly, San Francisco is very much interesting. It's more romantic compared to Los Angeles, perhaps because it's cooler up there. I have never seen Sheila before. She told me she'll pick me up from the airport and she will be wearing a red baseball cap. True enough she was wearing the red cap, but she found me first. She grew up in the hustle and bustle of New York City, [View Full Entry]

The thought of going to the US for training and work obviously made me so excited. It will be my first time in North America, and I was on my first job! To me, the 13-hour non-stop flight from Manila to LAX felt like a bus ride from my usual routine of commuting from UP Manila to Cavite. Since we took PAL, we took off at the spankin' new Terminal 2 Centennial Airport. It was so new and way better than the old Terminal 1 NAIA airport. Our boss picked us up at the airport in his Ford Expedition, my [View Full Entry]

My first trip abroad. Yehey!!!! It was a hassle to secure a Japanese tourist visa but managed to get one anyway after a few more visits at the Japanese Embassy. I was supposed to take the trip together with a teammate but due to these visa technicalities I got into Tokyo a few days late and missed the Disneyland trip. Sad.. so sad. Well, anyway, atleast I still made it to Japan. I was impressed with the size of the NARITA airport. I was thrilled and very excited. It was Christmas Season and Tokyo was cooler than usual. My Japanese [View Full Entry]

With new found friends from all over the world

On my second summer in the university, I wanted to travel more but didn't have the money. Heck, I was just a student, and getting by with my DOST stipend at that. I know it may not be in line with my computer studies, but I felt that if I spend my summer elsewhere outside Manila, it would help me more, and on a personal level. I heard about Ugnayan ng Pahinungod in school so I immediately signed up. There, I met other students with the same interest but different fields. I am the only Computer Science student in that [View Full Entry]

I was still on my second year of college when I first saw Cebu, Surigao City, and Cagayan De Oro City. I don't exactly remember when that was but the trip gave me a good impression of my country. It's so beautiful and there's more to see beyond Cavite, Paranaque, and the malls of Las Pinas! Hahaha... talk about being a mallrat. I remember, though, that I bugged and nagged my mom for another trip to Surigao as a graduation gift. And she did give it to me! I stayed in my lola's house for more than a month, a [View Full Entry]
