We had lunch at a local cafeteria where we were greeted “Thank You and Camiguin”. I grinned. On their wall was a map of Camiguin Island and below it, says " Camiguin means ‘Come Again’ ”. Ahhhh... Now I get it! The Half Day Trip to Camiguin We made arrangements with the DOME jeepney driver so he could pick us up at 7:00am from PNRoa to Agora Market. It’s where we will be taking the bus that will take us to the Balingoan, which is still part of the province Misamis Oriental. To keep the story short, the jeepney brought us [View Full Entry]

Today’s our last day here at Cagayan De Oro City or CDO. Similar to yesterday, De Oro Mountain Explorers or DOME (contact Jerome at 09194043930) shall take us to a day of thrill and adventure. We are spelunking at Kweba De Oro, which was first explored by DOME and first filmed with Beauty Queen and TV Host, Mirriam Quiambao. Afterwhich, we shall do what most tourists came to CDO for: Water Tubing, also known as Pinoy White Water Rafting. We were picked up from PNRoa at 7:30am. Via DOME’s jeep, it took us only 30 minutes t [View Full Entry]

For our next two days here in Cagayan De Oro, we have De Oro Mountain Explorers or DOME to entrust our lives to. Seriously! For the next two days, DOME shall take us to three ecotourism activities, namely: Canopy Walking at Claveria, Spelunking at Kweba De Oro, and Water Tubing (aka White Water Rafting Pinoy-Style) - I heard we are going to jump from a bridge too! As early as 7:30am, DOME’s jeep picked us up at PNRoa. We met Jerome (DOME president), Meg, and a few more of our guides for the day. "The Binary Tree" At around 9: [View Full Entry]

Cagayan De Oro, the City of Golden Friendship Thank God for Cebu Pacific’s 10 peso promo fare!!! We are now here at Cagayan De Oro City, Misamis Oriental (North Central Mindanao). Luckily, they have just switched to using VERY new planes. Thus, the travel experience onboard was superb. It has been six years since I’ve been here at my dad’s province. My mom and I headed straight to my Tito’s house in PNRoa. We took a cab, which was WAY better and newer than those that we have in Manila. What a shame, hehe! Any [View Full Entry]

I have long been fascinated about the whale sharks of Donsol. For more than a year, I have read quite a lot of writeups about these misunderstood yet Gentle Giants of the ocean. They are the largest fish in the ocean yet they do not eat fish! They are more like sharks than whales but are called whale sharks due to their enormous size. They are locally called Butandings. To me, they are one of the most adorable creatures of the sea. For many times, this trip has been rescheduled, but on the nth time, I refused. I gathered friends available [View Full Entry]

This is how it's supposed to look like!

This year's company summer outing was at Virgin Beach Resort. It was a two and a half hour bus convoy from Makati to San Juan, Batangas. There is not much to write about this beach, actually. The pictures from their website looked prettier than expected. It was close to a sugar-fine brownish-white sand beach nonetheless. The food provided by the resort was bad. Big time. Good thing we had fun with our game ala 'Amazing Race'. We were divided into 6 teams and I was tasked to swim from the shore of the beach to the man on a kayak to [View Full Entry]

We hired a van for 2500 Php from Mandaluyong crossing to Planet Dive in Mabini, Batangas. The driver took us to a different route compared to the map I downloaded from Planet Dive's website. We got into the resort at 8am (we left Mandaluyong City at 5:30am) safely anyway so it was okay. It was just funny that the driver hasn't stopped complaining about the rough road till we got into our destination. Saddle Point Off we go to Saddle Point. This is my first dive for the weekend. It has been months since I last went diving so I probably [View Full Entry]

. It was raining in Manila when we left for Baguio, Benguet. I hesitated leaving that day but my mountaineer friend had ironed out all plans for this long weekend trip so I figured I might as well shoo away my doubts and go ahead. I slept most of the time though -- six hours from Manila to Baguio. As we arrived at the Baguio Victory Liner, we immediately bought tickets that would take us back to Manila on November 1. Baguio City In Baguio, we took our time taking pictures and going around the “touristy” (ahem) spots. (At this point [View Full Entry]

It has been my long-time dream to be a certified diver. This dream has been lingering in my mind since my intro dive with my boss in Guam in 2002. Incidentally, an officemate of mine told me she’s about to take her scuba class so she introduced me to her dive instructor Dencio of Dive Buddies. I got the chance to attend two of his orientations. That was last year, though. It was not till September this year when I finally signed up. For real! From Makati, my scuba classmates and I drove two hours south to Planet Dive, Mabini, Batangas. Gay Pride Parade I can really feel the heat of summer. I can feel a lot of sweat trickle down my whole body. Is it hot in here or is it just the hotties on parade? We weaseled ourselves into the crowded streets in Yonge for the Gay Pride Parade which was on its 25th year (please correct me if I'm wrong). There were gay people, gay couples, friends and families of gay people who were marching the streets of Toronto... either half-naked, naked-in-rollerblades, top naked, bottom half-naked and what not. Naked people are everywhere and I guess some of the [View Full Entry]
