Let me initiate this short entry by quoting myself from a conversation held with Jett a few days ago. Here’s what I said: “…but hey, what is life if not an endless string of challenges?” What on Earth would bring me to say something like that, you all wonder, and I’ll deliver the answer straight away: the family changed their mind about having a nanny. Now, this was not quite as bad as it sounded, for numerous reasons: For one, I have been talking about moving into my own place for the past week anyway, since I currently have restrictions that [View Full Entry]

Silly Willy

When I look back over my happiest moments in life, they often have one or several elements of utterly childish behavior, which is probably why I looked forward to Saturday the 22nd with such enthusiasm; this date signifies the International Pillow Fight Day, and it was to be held at the Sydney Opera House Front Court, commencing at 1 AM. I showed up 15 minutes early with a plastic bag veiling my weapon of choice, and awaited the event’s start. As far as I could tell, there was only me and 6 kids, none of whom looked older than 17, and [View Full Entry]

There’s a Swedish expression claiming that “Wonderful is brief”, and although I feel like I’ve just recently had a fair dose of that very lesson, Life seems to think it’s necessary to remind me again. So I now find myself in yet another pickle to deal with, and this time it’s my work as a nanny (and thus my accommodation) that’s being threatened. Exactly how I might lose my sweet setup is a long story, but the bottom line is that Marnie’s mom - who’s on a caravan tour through Australia with her husband - caught on to the fact that [View Full Entry]

I know you’ve all been hanging on the edge of your seats wondering about the nanny-job, which is fully understandable as this is truly exciting stuff, and I will tell you all about it in a second. But since I’ve been slacking on keeping this updated I have to go back a few days just to make sure you’re not missing out on any mundane events in my life over here in Aussie-land. On Friday morning I borrowed Jett’s house mate’s board and went down to the beach to take on the waves for a few hours. It went great until [View Full Entry]

The past two days, Life and I have had a bit of an ongoing quarrel. As much as I love her, I sometimes get really fed up with the crap she throws at me regularly, and these past few days have been a perfect example of the type of shit I wish she would just stop handing me. Because she believes I can’t be happy unless faced with some sort of annoying predicament to sort out on a daily basis, she makes sure to provide me a bounty of sticky things to deal with when I’d much rather just kick back [View Full Entry]

Staying at Lorenzo’s house down by the Dee Why beach has pushed me right into the Australia I came for, and it’s about time. It’s been a long week in the city and suburbs considering I came here mainly for beach volleyball. Lorenzo reminds me of a mix of my favorite Ninja and my favorite half-brother, which is about as good of an appraisal anyone could ask for, and he shares a lot of my interests which obviously is an indispensible aspect of becoming and staying good friends with someone. Thank the founders of Couchsurfing.org for an easy way to find [View Full Entry]

So after a few days of waiting I finally got word about the nanny-job, but we’re going to do this chronologically, to keep you guys on your toes a bit. Thursday began with a run, as has been my habit for this past week, for better or worse. For better because I’m getting back in shape and can firm up again after months of slacking while indulging in large quantities of food, alcohol and candy. For worse because I’m not quite keeping up the food-intake with my calorie-burn, and am consequently shedding pounds I’d really much rather keep on me. But [View Full Entry]

You know those days when everything you touch turns to absolute shite, and the notion of being stuck between the sweaty ass-cheeks of the fat guy in the Borat-movie appears as if it would almost be a step up from your current state of mind? Well, I'm having one of those days, and no one wants to read about that. Coincidentally, I don't really feel like writing about it, so I'll see you all tomorrow instead, hopefully with good news pertaining my nanny-job. (Ninja, you should be here improving my mood right now, you're good at that. What the heck are [View Full Entry]

On Sunday I went into Sydney to attend a casting call for hair modeling, this one with Redken. I didn’t really want my hair cut, and was planning on seeing how much they’d pay before I committed to anything. If it’s under $200, I told myself, it’s not worth it. I quite like my current do, and even though money always comes in handy, I don’t need it that bad just yet. Redken had rented a room at a Sheraton downtown, and it wasn’t a particularly big room. Inside were 30-40 young, skinny, mega-trendy girls, all fitting into the small room [View Full Entry]

Kiama's Blowing Hole

The job that I had half-heartedly applied for was a live-in nanny job, and for those of you who know me well enough, you’re probably now laughing at the preposterous irony of this fact, since you know I hate kids. For those of you who may not have known that about me prior to this post, allow me to clarify; I don’t hate all kids at all times, but I definitely despise the omnipresent brats who grow up to be demanding divas thanks to their parent’s lacking ability to raise them properly. My brother and I were incredibly well-mannered kids, which [View Full Entry]
