Well, after leaving the Cameron Highlands in the rain, 6 hours later we arrived on Pulau Penang or Georgetown...in the rain. After successfully bartering our way into town we got the worst news possible. Southern Thailand is closed to traffic via road or rail from Malaysia due to flooding. aaaahhh. With literally every back packer we have met heading to Ko Pha Ngan for christmas we knew this was not good news. Worse still was teh fact that Penang was the most disapppointing place we have visited...by a long way! Despite the lonely planet (whoever writes that needs a bullet we [View Full Entry]

Well after another early start and long bus journey we arrived in The Cameron Highlands. Based in the Centre of the Peninsua at an elevation of at least 1500m this is the garden of malaysia and the most extensive hill station...and also the coldest place on earth (well in Malaysia at least) It was freezing here! We've had to put socks, proper shoes (ones that constrict my toes) and up to 3 tops at a time on whilst being here (and its actually only about 20 degrees at lowest, but have become acclimatized to the heat now!) Nonetheless, it's beautiful and [View Full Entry]

OK so we are 32 days in (yes it really has been that long since the tearful goodbye at Heathrow) and this is what these trips are made for (or at least that is what Andrew thinks). After another early start we set about for Taman Negara. Older than the Amazon (135 million years old - almost as old as your parents) its awesome - the stuff of legends. Despite wet season it was a packed bus. To get to the Jungle we took a long tail boat which was incredible. Literally sitting on the river, a very nice shade of [View Full Entry]

We arrived in Kuala Lumpar or KL as the locals call it on the 11th December. First impressions on arriving in KL was that it was organised chaos for a change. The traffic moved in lanes and all seemed to be well mannered between drivers (i even think they may have had licenses there!) ALthough staying awake whilst driving was not high on the list of priorites of our driver from the airport - thank god the motorways have about twenty lanes each way as we seemed to veer in and out of them all! Our hostel was really great again [View Full Entry]

Borneo to be Wild Asia » Malaysia » Sabah
After arriving all by ourselves by means of local transport, odd translations (andrew has been trying to use his very basic Indonesian which considering we are in Malaysia led to some questionnable results), a lot of please and thank yous and smiles (they go a long way here - a bit like a short skirt and a low top for lara back home) we arrived in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo. Very cheap and picturesque (dining by the harbour with millions of little islands around us). There was an interesting Phillipino Market on the harbour although selective use of the senses was [View Full Entry]

Well 4 weeks in now and having returned to Delhi via another overnight train we left India for Singapore... a welcome change. It is hot and wet here causing a constant sweaty nutsack and etreme sandal wearing. (just for andrew i would add) . First thing we did was eat some food without washing our hands in bleach first - red meat and burgers have featured high in our diets over the last 2 days alongside chocolate and ice cream. We feel like someone is about to take all food away so best eat in case we never do again! Singapore [View Full Entry]

Hi gang, This is our blog - have no idea if this works so let us know to our yahoo if it does. Well, we have left India now and what an experience. Having recovered from the vomming and diaorrhea (and after enjoying some red meat and a Singapore sling in raffles, as well as clean toilets and no cows banging into us in the street) I can safely say India was an experience...a good one! After leaving Udaiper we headed back across the Rajhastan stopping in some remote villages along the way. We were like celebrities - everyone wants to [View Full Entry]
