Punte Del Este Figgy So we had an epic journey – 18 hours to Buenos Aires, followed by a walk to the port to get on our boat for 3 hours, then 4 hour bus to Uruguay. The boat was pretty nice really although we did basically just sleep. On arrival in Punte del Este we found our hostel and went out to eat – to discover Punte Del Este is the most expensive place ever! It was our first and last meal out there! Our hostel was nice but the guy seemed intent on overcharging us. They also had the best dog ever –although I’m pretty sure it was actually a lion disguised as a dog as he had a mane. The first day we went to the beach, which was really nice. The peninsula ... read more

Iguazu Falls Tina So technically we stopped in Buenos Aires for like two days before we went to Iguazu Falls, but here is a synopsis for you: Figgy did her applications, I walked around, and we were both entirely too jet lagged to do anything else. So we headed up to Iguazu Falls, which is in Nothern Argentina, and which is supposed to be famous but I had never heard of it. Nonetheless, everyone said we HAD to check it out, so we decided to brave another 18hours on a bus. Little did we know, this bus journey was not at all like the ones we were used to! It was amazing. We had huge seats that reclined loads, they brought us food, and played movies. It was seriously like being on a plane. Amaze, the ... read more

Figgy So after our shopping in Hoi An we would have liked some beach action. However the weather Gods are against us (and it is the one rainy month central Vietnam gets) so we get to Nha Trang, and warm it is, but also rainy. We find a genuinely lovely place to stay and make a plan of action, which ends up being to go on a motorcycle tour. We go on the easy rider website, and call David. Sadly he does not pick up initially, but when he calls us back it is worth the wait. Most random experience of Vietnam yet. He has a chat with us on the phone, then we agree to meet him at this bar. He says ‘I will be wearing my orange T-shirt’ about a hundred times. I began ... read more

Figgy So we arrived in Hoi An after our epic journey and instantly knew we’d made a good decision. There were shops, with beautiful dresses, coats, skirts, tops bags shoes everything, everywhere! It was amazing. We scouted out a nice place to stay and went for a wander! Now be impressed, we managed not to buy anything the first night! The following day however things went downhill… Tina Yeah we tried to be like really productive and scoped out how to rent bicycles to go down to the beach and booked a cooking class but then…and in our defence, Hoi An is like the silk capital of the world and has a tailor like every three seconds….but yeah, we kind of had a vague plan to get like a dress made each and I wanted a ... read more

So after another 6 hour minibus journey, we arrived in Vang Vieng- hedonistic Western Paradise. The first thing we noticed is that all the cafés have a whole lounging situation going on and that they all play friends or family guy.Its like lazy person’s paradise. So, for those of you not in the know, tubing is a big deal here.Like, people come here just to go down the river in a tube, except that’s not really what tubing means in Laos.Tubing in Vang Vieng is basically getting a tube to transport yourself down a river that has bars every 5 meters or so.Each bar gives you a bracelet, makes you do a shot of horrible whiskey, and has all kinds of zip lines and slides…it’s a bit of mental party (but really people hype it up, its not ... read more

Luang Prabang- Tina Right, so before we go on, I just need to say that on our flight to Luang Prabang there were genuine hipsters…If you don’t know what a hipster is a) google it, they are an important and hilarious part of modern society and b) how do you NOT know what a hipster is, seriously?. Anyways, I find them fascinating, and was delighted to share a taxi with them and find out they were a)English and b)as clueless as we were about where they were staying that night- if the hipsters are doing it, it must be very cool to be completely unorganized about accommodation. Besides all that, Luang Prabang is extraordinarily pretty. They have completely recognized the power of fairy lights and everywhere is just gorgeously lit up. They have all these cute ... read more

Tina Right, so cause we have lost a lot of our following due to the lack of blogging effort on our part, I think we should do an extra long blog for you loyal readers. For those of you in the know, and by in the know I mean anyone who takes a minimal interest in the news, will know that Bangkok flooded. Badly. Which was extra bad for us, cause that was an intergral part of our plans, so in an effort to not drown/get stranded, we had a quick change of plans, and flew out of Bangkok sharpish to Hanoi. At this point, Ill point out, my whole motivation for wanting to go to Hanoi was to check out Halong Bay, cause some Aussies we met in India said it was amazing…theorectically I should ... read more

Mumbai-‘ Wait, we can’t even FIND a rickshaw here’ Tina So, boys and girls, we missed you! We knows it been a while since you had any blog fun to read, but we are waaaaaaaaaay behind now, so I intend to take you through a whistlestop tour. We arrived in the middle of a brewing storm- therefore we had multiple power cuts. For those of you keeping track, that means NO FAN in like 1000 degree heat (no that is not an exaggeration). So we decided to café hop…we went to a famously tourist café that had been the sight of a tourist attack previously and had the bullet holes to prove it, and the most gorgeous cake shop, Theobromas. We stayed in Colaba which has market stalls that take over the whole side of a ... read more

Figgy So we arrived in Udaipur after our 16 hour bus ride. This was not a very pleasant journey as initially it was just so so hot! Also long bus journeys require careful fluid balance – drinking just enough so you don’t turn into a crisp, but not so much that you need to pee at inconvenient times! The bus arrived early at 5am in Udaipur which is not a nice time to arrive anywhere, especially when you have not booked. Our first choice was fully booked but we went somewhere else instead, and then slept for a really long time! So a detailed blog about Udaipur will not be very interesting as we mainly chilled out, found a nice hotel with a pool, shopped and ate cake. We will summarise the highlights! I was extremely ... read more
