And so begins our story of Goose and Squid...
This blog was started with the intention of cataloging travels and events in our lives for our own personal use. However, as I am an avid travelblog stalker, I welcome others to take a look. For more information on who we are please refer to the first blog on our account :)
March 2012-May 2012: Jennafer is off to Spain to walk the Camino de Santiago and spend some time exploring
**Not going to be posting too many pics. I am using a point and shoot camera that doesn´t capture... well, too much of anything because it is far too breathtaking.
The only thing worse than having things go wrong, is having everything go as planned Right now Spain is in a rough spot. With unemployment in Spain rising consistantly over the past half year, more people then ever are out of work. It is said that one in five people do not have a job, bringing the total figure to nearly 5 million unemployed. The percentage is said to be around 23% which is more than twice the EU average. It is odd because at first glance, they do not seem to be suffering. However, looking hard at the surroundings, it becomes easy to spot. While there have always been people begging in the streets, the things I have seen in the past week have painted a bigger picture for me. The man begging outside of

It has such a wonderful feel to it, with lots of delicious Paella Valenciana, stunning architecture, friendly locals, a lovely beach, and the most amazing park. I would move here in a heartbeat. There are so many people out with their dogs every single day so I really do believe that my dog Bill would be happy here too. Oh and Lee, there is the coolest park ever to go running through :) We arrived in Valencia right after the famous fire festival called Las Fallas. The festival is held in commemoration of St Joseph. Each neighborhood is responsible for creating their own falla which is then burnt out in the

March 20th Barcelona is a charming Mediterranean city literally bursting at it's seams with European urban style, art, architecture, and most importantly, delicious Catalan cuisine. The capital of Catalonia, Barcelona ranks in as Spain's second largest city after Madrid. It is not hard to see why it is one of the most populous urban areas in all of the European Union... Lee start packing. My flight to Barcelona started with 50 16year olds in the airport talking so loudly that I could not hear what the lady was announcing over the intercom. I asked if there were any upgrades available for fear of having to sit near them. Fortunately, I did not. The flight was okay, and I think I only had one or ten visions of us

I received a message from her yesterday out of the blue that went something like this, Marry- "Hi. Ok. I apparently get there at 11am" Me- "WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" Marry- "Am I too late?" Me- "NO I MEAN OMG YOU'RE COMING TO SPAIN??!?!" Marry- "Haha I'm finishing booking my ticket now." ...And so my friend Marry will be meeting me in Barcelona on the 20th and staying with me until the 28th. We had talked about her coming and hangingout with me for a week, but then decided it wouldn't work out for her. Thus, I had began mentally preparing my solo journey. I am not the least

However, my family, or rather really just my mother, seems to need some sort of peace of mind and I am hoping that by presenting the Camino as the well established journey that it is, might help. **If interested, see previous blog to find out why I am wakling the Camino... There are many caminos, long distance pathways/walks, all over the world. But none have quite reached the popularity level as the Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way of Saint James. The Camino involves a pilgrimage route leading to the Cathedral at Santiago de Compostela which is where the supposed remains of St James the apostle are burried. The Camino

I've been granted nine weeks leave from my current job after requesting off to go volunteer in Guatemala. It was to be a graduation present to myself and in all honesty I thought that they would just ask me to put in my two weeks and resign. However, they were more than happy to give me the time off and so I decided that I would stay at my current job through the summer and sometime in September start to look for jobs within my particular field of study. Some how or another, I have come full circle and am now off to a

So I thought it would be a great Christmas present to surprise him with an overnight trip. It took me over a week to decide on a hotel because there are sooooo many! Getting There We woke up at 5:30am because we had decided to get an early start to our trip into NYC. However, we both were quite sleepy and decided to sleep in until about 8:30am. As we did not want to drive in the city because of expensive parking and crazy drivers and traffic, we decided to drive to Lee's work in Ardmore and leave the car there in the shopping center. We took the train from Ardmore

I love to watch people, and generally speaking there is no other one place where you can find five million different types of people meandering about putting on a show purely for your own entertainment. Airports also mean that I am getting to escape from my everyday life to go somewhere new and do something different. While I love airports for this very quality, I despise them for the ensuing prolonged stomach ache that they are destined to cause me. I love traveling, but getting to places usually ends up with me feeling nauseous and needing to find the closest restroom both pre and post flight. It starts with the excitement of going somewhere new and ends with the anticipation and fear of the

I have been participating in an archeological dig in Lancaster County since September and we have recenetly closed our excavations. The name of the site where we were excavating is called the Wiesenthal Site. Here is a little history of the site: The Weisenthal site is located on what was once a 500 acre tract that was settled by the Hess family in 711. The location of this site is one of the earliest European settled in Lancaster County. The house located onsite is one of thirty families that initially settled in this area

With this being said, Lee and I have made some decisions, or rather we have decided not to make any decisions at all. Well that doesn't really make any sense does it? I guess the conclusion that we have come to in the past month is that we are not sure if we both are at a point in our lives where we can say that in a years time we will make the huge jump to take a year off and go galivant around the globe. A lot of unknowns surround our lives currently and so we have decided that
