We were able to take our first vacation over the Easter break. We visited a gem of a place called San Pedro de Atacama--the desert! Kurt, Kelly and I took a bus there directly after school on Thursday as we were quite eager and wanted to get there first! Prisclia and Catherine took a later bus that night, and Alison and Miguel drove in with Marc as their passenger. Sam and Nico drove in the next day to meet us. Since we were the first to arrive, we were charged with finding our cabanas that had been booked prior to our arrival. After the 4 and a half hour bus ride, we were excited to see the place and to unload our belongings. We brought a ton of stuff as we were warned that it was ... read more

It has been pretty busy with school starting so I haven't had much time the past couple of weeks for updating! Kurt has also started his new job and is staying busier these days (and nights) with that. He is teaching English to adults and seems to be enjoying it quite a bit! Today is his first super-long day...8 am to 10 pm with a 2 hour lunch break. Poor guy but at least I can take a nap and be ready to go to dinner when he is finished! :) I adore my little chicaditas! They are very cute and very affectionate (I have been trying to teach them to kiss on the cheek, not on the lips:)! I like that a lot about this culture. Don't have much to write this week...The pics are really it for now :). Getting busy with school. Great day at the beach today (yesterday) :). Kurt is playing soccer with new friends and I am home...trying to unpack, but addicted to the internet as it keeps me connected. We got to watch the MU-KU game last night with Chilean pals (all wearing black and gold:)--I was sad about the loss but enjoyed the aftermath of card playing. I guess some things are universal. We are settling into our new place. I finally unpacked all the suitcases today and it feels great--we are no longer nomads (until April/June breaks:). Speaking of the 1st breaks...we have decided to do San Pedrom the 1st long weekend we have in April and Machu Picchu on the 2 week trimester ... read more

Hola amigos y amigas! Please take a look at my new photos and 3 videos...sorry for sounding like a total valley girl in the video from my friend's balcony...I had a lil vino blanco before at lunch :) MANY more to come as I am reading over what I wrote and realize that I left so much out! Just don't want to overwhelm all at first! xoxo We have officially made it through our first week in Anto. It has been really amazing so far. Getting here was definitely quite a chore as we had 4 flights on 4 different airlines--AND we were routed through Toronto, which is kinda crazy considering we left out of Kansas City! But cheaptickets.com was a cheaper site so it was worth the lengthy trip to save a bit of cash. ... read more
