On Sunday morning I went for a run, then had breakfast, then met my history professor, who led a group of us around the campus to point out all the history/archeology-related points of interest. But the most exciting thing EVER is that at 5pm a group was launching a hot air balloon from the cricket field beside the Castle. I watched in total awe as it went from this huge flat canvas to a beautiful purple Kelloggs-logo-adorned FLYING thing. I'm adding this to the list of things that I want to do before I die. Major amounts of essays and scary [View Full Entry]

This actually happened on Sept. 20th. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon and we decided to walk down to Herstmonceux Village to take a look around. And, as you can see, there are actually cows and roosters and extremely friendly people giving out free apples along the way! The scenery was so beautiful that the next day I decided to take a jog down the same road. But as soon as I got to the cow farm the air got a little too ripe for comfort, haha. [View Full Entry]

Okay I'm going to be very laconic/brief/lazy because it's 1:35AM and my body needs sleep very urgently. Went to Hailsham on Friday morning to continue inquiring at various banks. I still haven't figured it out, though, which is frustrating yet very typical of me. As soon as I hopped off the bus coming from Hailsham, we got ready to take a coach to London. We walked from Cleopatra's Needle all the way to Tower of London, stopping at a Twinings shop on the way! Twinings! Love! I wanted to absorb the atmosphere through my pores because it all looked so good. [View Full Entry]

Just some photos of a moonlit walk around the grounds a couple of days ago - visited a very-creepy-looking-at-night abandoned house-type thing on campus, and then watched the stars. Yesterday we went to London to visit the British Museum for an Art History field study. The weather was BEAUTIFUL - just as it is at the moment - and I felt conflicted between wanting to stay and look around in the museum and walking through London in the afternoon. I finally bought a mooncake - half price! - in Chinatown, because I didn't have any on the Sunday and was feeling [View Full Entry]

Weekend in London! On Friday, we left early from the Castle in order to go for a coach tour of London, followed by a viewing of The Merry Wives of Windsor at the reconstructed Globe Theatre. The tour took us around many of the main interest points in central London, including Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, and St. Paul's Cathedral. We didn't get to stop at any of the locations, though, except to use the toilets in the crypts of St. Paul's. The tour guide pointed out the changing of the guard that takes place daily at Buckingham Palace [View Full Entry]

Hey people! Be proud of me! Sunday morning I forced myself to get up and go for a run for the first time in a couple months! And I'm alive!! They have a pretty okay facility in the residence building, so hopefully I'll be able to exercise regularly. It's weird not running with the dragon boaters, but I'll have to get used to it =(. I made up a schedule for the morning so that I could take a shower and make it in time for breakfast before getting on the bus to go to Pevensey. I was doing pretty well [View Full Entry]

Sat in the Ballroom for the entire morning and the first portion of the afternoon going through more orientation things. Apparently there's one more series of sessions tomorrow, and then an out trip on Sunday (yay)! There was free time for basically the rest of the day - which we decided to take advantage of by sharing a taxi-van to Eastbourne. I didn't really have a purpose for going down there other than to sightsee, because I had gotten most of my supplies the week before, but it was very refreshing to be able to get off of the grounds and [View Full Entry]

Weather: Extremely Windy and Rainy, as of 30 seconds ago. Was sunny all day though. Last Meal: Chicken, Potato Wedges, Broccoli & various other vegetable-type things, Apple Crumble, Tea (can never go without tea ever, ever again.) Currently all settled in my dorm at Bader Hall and trying to find a coherent radio station. There's this wire attached to my alarm clock that's supposedly for catching better reception, but it's not really helping. Arrived at Herstmonceux Castle at about 11:30AM. Auntie Catherine drove me here with a GPS, which told us to go through a labyrinthine tangle of ve [View Full Entry]

Arrived in London on the 26th after my plane was delayed a couple of hours. Spent the past few days happily being educated in all things domestic. Auntie Helen has given me a crash course on how to make bread, pizza, pasta, and also how to garden, and how to knit. I'm no good at any of it, but it's been tons of fun so far! I'm extremely conscious of the way I talk right now - some British affectations are kind of rubbing off on me, from listening to relatives, and watching BBC/variation all the time. Rachel and Stephen tried [View Full Entry]
