I'm watching X-Factor right now! WESTLIFE is performing!!!!! I REMEMBER THEM!!! All of my exams were over as of Monday at 4pm! I burst out of the Ballroom, with my crippled calloused writing hand, packed like a madwoman, and evacuated the campus as fast as humanly possible to get to London. The next day I caught my 1:20pm Eurostar to Lille, but JUST barely. YES! ALIVE! And we only caused one car crash! (But our involvement in that is debatable, at that.) So I think I sort of know how to pronounce Szczecin now - Shteh'-shin? Something like that? Ahaha. So we cabbed to London Stansted at 2am on Friday morning, in order to catch our 6am flight to Poland! One of the first things we did was try to find the hostel. It's getting chilly!!! Spent Friday in London: wandering around Camden Market, Westminster Abbey, and then to the Canada High Commission, where we were given a tour and sat at Lester Pearson's desk! Then in the evening, we sat in Trafalgar Square and looked at the Vigil Project - which involves projecting the names of all the Canadian soldiers who died in WWI onto the wall of the building every night for a week until November 11th. Remember, Remember, the Fifth of November! FIRE! EXPLOSIONS! Fires resulting in explosions! And the other way around!! No seriously - I woke up with a smoker's cough this morning because of all the smoke inhalation. Yesterday night we went to Lewes (along with 80 000 other people, trying to cram into this small town) to attend one of the biggest bonfire celebrations in Sussex - with a huge procession of torch-bearing men, women, and children parading through the street while all the spectators squished sardine-style onto the sidewalk to watch. So recently I've been incredibly anxious about the upcoming essays that are due, considering the fact that all of the next few weekends are going to be spent on field studies or traveling, eep! Last week I spent the morning at the British Galleries, staring at the portraits that are going to be the focus of my Art History paper. It's quite surreal to be so physically close to the history that we're learning about - I could literally touch Rembrandt's bulbous nose, except that I would have been swarmed by several security guards and kicked out and things like that.
