Melbourne is a great city and we really enjoyed our stay here. It was good to stay for more than a week so we were able to see the place properly. At this time of year it is winter, coming into spring so it is quite cold - just like home! Despite the temperature, the weather has been good and mainly sunny with the exceptional rain storm or two. On day one, we went into tour the inner city - the Melbourne Visitor Information Centre in Federation Square is great for information on everything from transport to tours. You can book tours through them too but they charge extra. We also went on the Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle, approximately 90 mins long, it has running commentary and is hop on-hop off. The City Circle Trams are ... read more

i visited 4 places really in new zeland, auckland, rotorua, wellington and nelson. i really liked new zeland, the place really is beautiful and the people lovely, i just wish i had more time there but i can always go back. i wished i had more time in rotorua and nelson especially, they where smaller towns but had a lovely feel about them that the rushed cities they didn't have. i saw things i have never seen before, boiling mud pools, geysers and all sorts of birds, the kiwi being one of them - so so cute. the downside of my new zeland experience was finding out id had money stolen from my stupid travel agent cash card. complaints will be made when i get home believe me, i'm still very angry. thank god for my ... read more

my short stay in fiji was good although it was more expensive than i thought it would be for food etc. it wasn't sunny everyday but was still beautiful. i went on a crazy hike the first day and thought i might not actually make it back alive. i saw some massive spiders and slipped down a few rocks but managed to hang on haha. i also visited beachcomber island which was beautiful and went out on a boat to see the coral reef. the end ... read more

LA was great, i honestly wished i had more time there. i met up with a german girl li sa who i first met in vancouver and we went to universal studios and santa monica/ venice beach which where great. i also went to a lovely vegetarian restaurant the veggie grill with her which was gorgeous. the hostel i was in wasnt very exciting but it was partnered with another hostel banana bungalow where i spent a lot of time and met a lot of people. on my third day i went a hike up Runyan canyon to take in the views and also visited Hollywood boulevard and sunset boulevard, my feet where sore after that day. on my last night there we went out to a really impressive club, boulevard 13 i think it was ... read more

i think i stayed here too long and had a slight break down because my wi fi wouldnt work haha. san francisco had good and bad points and im just gona list them because im lazy. good: transport, pretty architecture, golden gate park and beach area, smooth thai restaurant (possibly one of the nicest meals i've ate in america), haight street (hippy street), seal lions, coit tower, hostels - band night, massive common room, free dinners and free sauna (first time i used one and it was good, i even took a photo haha) bad: lots of homeless people some clearly crazy shouting in your face, cable cars uncomfortable overpriced with rude staff, pier 39s disney land, THE WEATHER, red light district surrounding my hostel, hostel - rude hostel manager, loud snorer in my room for ... read more

the first day I arrived in Vancouver was a nightmare. It was cold and my hostel bed was awful, I couldn't understand why people liked the place. Day two however was brighter, and not just sunnier, I went to nicer area Granville island and also they sorted my bed out so I could actually sleep in it. The next day I went to china town which was the best china town I've been to on my travels and the day after that i went to Lynn canyon park. long story short, I liked Vancouver and would come back again some day.... read more

July 23rd 2011

On my first night in Toronto I went to the cinema to see harry potter which was great as usual. The cinema however I don't feel was as good as ours back home. There was no sweet popcorn to be had and the nachos where round and more like crisps. Maybe I just went to the wrong cinema haha Day two I walked round the sights and the city's nice, I didn't see everything there was to see but I saw a lot. The place I was staying was nice and I had a private room, there was no air con however and Toronto was currently undergoing a heat wave = so so so warm. Day three I went to Niagra Falls which was pretty enough, everything around it though was overpriced and a bit tacky. ... read more

Montreal was ok, the place is more about festivals than having many tourist activities. The city is more french than english which confused me because most french people speak english and a lot of english can't speak french but the signage was in french and this annoyed me. I felt like I was back in paris again, not good. Apart from that the people where nicer than in paris and parts of the city where pretty. They have loads of shopping, I actually saw more than I did in new york. My new fave shop is dollarama, our version of pound stretcher haha. My hostel was very well located in the middle of rue saint paul, the heart of old town. It was very good value for money but I've still a bruise on my forehead ... read more

Two days in sunny Boston. I liked this place just as I did Philadelphia because there is so much history. I walked the freedom trail to take in the sights and checked out Harvard Square for a bit. On day two I went to Salem which I really enjoyed, the locals in both places are really friendly. My hostel was nice too and I went on a we pub crawl with some of them. To drink out in american cities though can be quite expensive so I was taking it easy, no heavy drinking. I wouldn't mind coming back to Boston for the nice people and there where many islands I could have explored if I had more time and money. ... read more
