Holy Cow We made itI know that there were some doubters our there who thought that we wouldn39t last 4 months in Africa or survive the lack of running water in India but we did it In the last 18 months we have been in North and South America Europe Africa and Asia. Its a shame we couldn39t make it to Oceania this time around but its on the agenda for in the next few years. I still

Good Morning AmericaLaura and I have had a great week in the Western New York and Canada area. We started out the week at my high school friend Amy39s wedding in Silver Lake. It was a weekend campingoutdoor wedding and probably one of the coolest weddings we have been to yet. Everything was low stress and wonderfully done. The bride and groom were married by the lake there was a giant s

With less than 2 weeks until we return to Washington DC the place where our adventure began we find ourselves again in Moscow ready to head to our large apple aka New York City.We split our time between Kiev and Odessa. Our Ukrainian friend from DC Anna set us up with a home stay with her parents. We stayed in her old room even. The food they prepared was amazing. Everything maybe except th

Greetings from the Russian FederationI am not sure if this blog should even 39count39 but it is the second day in a row we have been in sovereign Russian territory. And we did get a stamp eat a Russian meal and get treated rudely... The story goes even further back than two days however. We start in China. For about a week I tried calling 5 or so different Russian embassy numbers in C

Hello again after just a weekSadly our Mongolian adventure is coming to a close. Also sadly enough anyhow with the new upgrades to this travel blog it looks like I can39t upload pictures. For now I39ve put a bunch on Facebook though. We came into Mongolia on the nicest distance train possible In our 4 bed closed compartment we were the only people occupying it. The train had an exce

After returning from North Korea everything seemed to move at lightning speed. A few weeks prior towards the end of April our school informed us that our teaching quality had decreased and therefore they were reducing our pay by about 1000 U.S. Dollars. There was nothing in our contract about this so we had no choice but to accept this unfortunate situation and hope for the best. By midM

I have always been curious about the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea or commonly known as DPRK or North Korea. All DPRK maps show only Korea as if a border and a southern country didnt exist and it was just one big happy country. A lot of what we hear and read about the DPRK is negative. In general when there are differing opinions side A says one thing and side B says

Hello from ChinaOur spring and summer plans are progressing along quite nicely. We are happy to report that we now have a city we are moving to and a date when we need to be there. We need to be in Seattle Washington by the 23rd of September as this is where Laura has chosen to do her PhD. I am applying to various actuarial and math programs in the area as well.
Well it has been a short while since I last posted. Mostly this is because nothing really significant has happened and we have been quite busy with our regular routines. This semester Laura and I are teaching everything from drama club to preschool to 9 year olds. On the days we do not teach we still have to plan for the lessons and design and develop curriculum and such. My days off are Mond

What a difference a week makes Or how about a month Last month at this time we were celebrating the secular new year in Delhi India. Now we are about to celebrate the year 4760 or there about in China. We now have a wonderful job teaching English and a splendid little apartmentAfter considering many offers we decided to go with Clever Kids on a Dramatic Adventure in English.
Hello helloI should call this one an arduous journey. When we arrived in Beijing we gave ourselves 1 week to find a job otherwise we were going to go down south to a rural village and teach there. I am so glad we found a job in Beijing and chose to stay here Beijing has a really nice metro system and bus too. Unfortunately I work a bit far away and am obliged at this point to take 3 diffe

31 Oman and Qatar

I decided to combine Oman and Qatar into one blog since we were in both countries for less than a week combined. We were lucky to be couchsurfing again in these countries as there are no hostels at all camping would be insane and the cheaper hotels start at more than 100 dollars a day. True they are all luxury but on the best of days I would not want to spend such money on a hotel. So Oman.

Hello hello and Happy DiwaliIts hard to say what all has happened these last 10 days. For starters there was Halloween where I was a three holed sheet of paper and Laura was a hippy. We started at the Hard Rock Cafe in Delhi which by the way offers beef burgers made of waterbuffalo then proceded with our South Delhi friends to a fairly posh rooftop club near Saket somewhere. We also played s

After our Indian friends left us in Jaipur to explore on our own we have been at the mercy of the locals. It hasn't been all bad. We went to several super fun places here in Jaipur.
Hello HelloOur last 10 days or so have certainly picked up a bit Laura is making some progress with her Phd applications and I have been doing a bit of exploring. We went to mens field hockey games mens doubles in tennis and rugby sevens of the Commonwealth Games. The whole idea of the commonwealth games is a bit odd to me.
Well. What a whirlwind weekend it was for me I dont think Laura really liked Dubai but I loved it We went to the top of the worlds highest building the al khalifa towers walked thru the longest aquarium tunnel and even dined at a 7 star hotel which has the worlds highest atrium. It costs about 8000 dollars per night if you were to actually stay there. Also visible was Palm Island an art
