Boarding the plain in Saigon the reality of it all hit me. I was going to see mom and dad in little over an hour. The feeling was sureal. Has it really been 5 months since I had last seen them? It feels like just yesterday we were driving around San Francsico dealing with my lost passport (by the way thanks Dad for not getting too angry). I saw my dad first walking into baggage claim. He looked so intent on finding me, it brought a smile to my face. As I started walking towards him, there mom was looking [View Full Entry]

Angkor What? Asia » Cambodia » North » Angkor
Hello hello hello, I'm back in action. After a quick tour of Thailand and it's beautiful islands we decided to head to Cambodia to see the amazing Temples of Angkor. After a short 13 hour ride that included Dave getting sick on the highway (and all over the side of the van). The driver was nice enough to NOT stop and kept driving while Dave gave a little of himself to both the Thai and Cambodian Countryside. I had been hearing about these temples ever since we decided to go on this trip and was scared that they were not going [View Full Entry]

Thailand Baby!!! Asia » Thailand » Central Thailand » Bangkok
Thailand is an amazing place. I Unfortunately only spent 5 days here my first time around but I will be back in about a month or 2 to give it a full rundown. Lloyd, Dave and I arrived in Bangkok and slowly found our way to every backpackers startign point, Kho San Road. We found elliot and Meredith sittig in front of McDonalds, Bottle of Rum in hand ready to give us a proper introduction to THailand. I only got to hang out with Elliot for 6 hours but we made the best of it. We started off the night buying [View Full Entry]

I love South Africa. Leaving is really hard but I know that I'll be back. Whether it's in 2010 for the next soccer world cup or after that there is so much I have yet to do in this Country. We headed up the Garden Route to Plettenberg bay. We had a little bit of a near death experience. as 3 of our 4 tires blew out as we were going 110km/hr. Luckily we hit the side rail and escaped certain injury. We spent five days basking in the sun, playing touch rugby on the beach and, just plain old chilling. [View Full Entry]

ZIMBABWE!!! Africa » Zimbabwe » Victoria Falls
Zimbabwe!!!!! Ever since high school my friends Gadi Elliot, Marty, and Tyler have all screemed that beautiful word. I didn't really even know where it was until recently. To all those who still don't know where it is. It's in Central Africa. This country is Struggling to survive. The current exchange rate is 80,000 to $1. When the largest bill is 20,000 that's kind of a pain to deal with. I felt quite rich walking aroudn with 2.4 million Zims. The equivalent to 30 Us DOllars. We decided go the Casino in town, wher the limits for black jack were a [View Full Entry]

Real Africa Take 1 Africa » Botswana
Hello hello hello, I'm sure you have all missed hearing from me but there is a rather large shortage of computers in central Africa. If you're at all mad you might wanna take it up with well all of Africa. I could probably write for hours about my experiences traveling through Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe but I will spare you for the time being. There are a few experiences that stick out in my mind from this trip that I think are really worth mentioning. First after we left the lovely beach town of Swakopmud we headed North along the Skeleton [View Full Entry]

Where do I even begin....Basically Lloyd and I signed up for this trip not really knowing what we were getting ourselves into. Capetown to Vic falls, amazing. Little did we know that there's about 5000 km between these two destinations...Approximately 3000 miles... Our first two days were spent driving in our overland vehicle and slowly getting to know everyone on our trip. 7 Dutch, 3 Germans, 3 Americans, 2 Swiss, 1 Canadian, 1 South African, 1 Belgium. As usual the group is amazing and I'm really looking forward to getting to know all these people. Our Second night our Guide, Qu [View Full Entry]

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks. Haven't really been doing much besides enjoying life in beautiful Capetown and doing some touristy things here and there. Beach Hiking Partying with lloyds friends... Eating a lot of really good food Interesting observations and probably some reasons my friend Lloyd is the way he is: They call BBQ's Braais (pronounced Bry) The pronounce Aluminum ALU MINIUM (Alooo Minium) weird) Everyone here has an awesome accent... I really really like South Africa. I wish it were in the USA so I could live here. It's beautiful, the [View Full Entry]

Goodbye Egypt Africa » Egypt
For Reasons that I can't explaing right now my photos are unavailable. Hopefully this problem will be fixed soon but in the meanwhile enjoy a picture of me and lloyd in Slovenia...more phots soon to come Egypt has deffintely made the top five places I have visted so far. The people, the history, the natural beauty, and of course the ever so taxing persistence of the salesmen. Bargaining has become a rather fun hobby of mine. Because we usually don't want to buy the giant sphynx statue of the lovely dress that they are trying to sell us we play a [View Full Entry]
