9:00am, Beijing Saga Youth Hostel. I awoke and had little time today. My train was leaving at 5:00pm and i still had a few more places to visit in Beijing before i set of to Xi'an. After having more bread and butter, i rented a bike and headed straight to Tian'anmen Square, the largest square in the world. 11:00am, Near Tian'anmen Square I parked my bike a MILE away and walked passed some dude selling scorpions on sticks. I didn't try any! So sue me ok? I don't have the guts. As i was walking, two teenage chinese girls flanked me [View Full Entry]

8:00am, Beijing International Saga Youth Hostel I got up, i took a bath and had bread, butter with eggs. Headed downstairs to the lobby and waited for the transportation to the Great Wall of Mutyanyugong. Whilst waiting, i noticed a few people that were most probably coming with me on the same bus. I seized an opportunity to make some friends. I was seated next to 3 chinese guys in blue t-shirts and introduced myself in english. It seems that these guys are from Korea, and like me cannot speak mandarin. But their english was just above poor. They had just [View Full Entry]

12:00pm Beijing Saga International Youth Hostel I woke up really really late. I slept throughout the night like i never slept before. I woke up at 4:00am and noticed it was raining heavily and went back to bed. When i woke up my whole dormitory was empty. The mat sallehs had left to the Great Wall. I hadn't plan on going today anyway so i went to the canteen, had myself some bread butter jam and watched spiderman DVD on the TV. I made a few friends today so feeling less depressed. I took a bath and got a cab to [View Full Entry]

9:30pm, Bozhou, Anhui Province I am so ready to leave this town. After Solat Maghrib and Isyak at the nearby mosque, i boarded the train to Beijing. This time around, i had no problems purchasing the tickets. I said exactly what i had to say to get the tickets. I told the ticket lady all in one sentecne in mandarin: "Can i get the next one way ticket to beijing, hard seat and how much would it cost me?" She was so dumbfounded. But she understood me. Thats all that matters. 9:58pm, Boarding the train to Beijing, Bozhou Bloody hell. There [View Full Entry]

10:00pm Shanghai Railway Station, The day before.. My plan was foiled yet again. I didn't have time to visit hooters! I think God is trying to tell me something. Keep your experience in China spiritual. At the Railway Station, there were so many waiting rooms, i couldn't figure out which one to get into. A man saw me walking back and forth and offered help. I showed him my ticket and he pointed to the right directions. The thing is, i had no way of knowing if he was telling me the truth or just getting me lost. I had no [View Full Entry]

10:00am Xintiandi I got up, and headed towards the Jade Buddha Temple. Apparently according to this magazine i read, they have a 1.2 meter fully jade buddha statue there and i thought what the hey, lets just go! Took the subway from Huai Hai to HangZhong and walked aimlessly for another hour. Fuck. The TOURIST MAP SUCKS. There are WAY too many roads here than drawn on the map. After walking and walking i stopped and asked a traffic attendant for directions. I showed the map and he didnt know what i was talking about. I closed my hands together and [View Full Entry]

10.00am, Home away from home. What a beautiful day. The summer weather is perfect. Its not too hot and not too cold. After breakfast we took a cab to Yu Yuan Garden. It is a gorgeous old garden. It was built during the reign of Ming Emperor JiaJing (1559) as the private garden of Pan Yunduan which was an administration commissioner of Sichuan Province. Today, you find Starbucks, KFC and a myriad of western restaurants and fastfoods around every corner. And a bunch of shops selling anything from antiques to flying discs (gasings)to traditional and modern musical instruments. The gasing hover [View Full Entry]
