Guadeloupe I can’t believe we have only been here a week and already so much has happened After the terrible trip to Deshaies we woke up the next morning find the sea calm,. Sparkling and enticing. It was pleasant and so of course we had to go out to the 100 metre mark to put out the fishing rods. Alan’s arm is a lot better. Pigeon Island was only about an hour and a half away. Pretty little anchorage, took two attempts to make the anchor hold. Lots of eel grass, very slippery stuff. We put our gear on and did a dive. It was very clear, pretty and full of fish. There was a big spotty green moray eel who wanted to be friends, but I was not too keen on him. It was clear ... read more

Year and a catastrophe at sea. We did not want to stay too long in Jolly Harbour so motored down to Falmouth, the weather was a little stormy but the sea very calm. We anchored in Falmouth and just carried on getting the boat ready for sea, a much easier job than normal. Which was just as well because for this first week Alan’s arm swelled up and was unusable. We decided the best thing was for him to totally rest it and certainly after a few days it has got a lot better. New year was a really nice meal in Trappas, a great little restaurant, and then fireworks and a live band in English Harbour, it was a great atmosphere, and the group really good. Just as we were leaving we bumped into ... read more

Hello, I have to say again, because I just typed all this and somehow lost it! Arriving back in Jolly Harbour this time has been so different. I think I love Delroy because the boat is amazing! It is clean, polished, and good. Still lots to do, but it has made such a difference. Even the stainless steel has been cleaned. We have put up the bimini and spray hood and Alan has replaced the alternator, and checked generator, engine etc etc. Cannot believe so much has been acheived in one day. When we arrived last night we were really tired but managed the basic stuff , like huge rum punches at the sit up bar, and got up early this morning to put the genoa back on, really glad we did, it has blown ever ... read more

Going back to the boat soon. Well we have booked flights back...27th December. Hopefully have the boat up and running so we can enjoy new year in Antigua. It has been such a bad summer here, the beach hut has not really had it's full usage, but we made the best of it. Henley in the rain! Who could forget having a great picnic while it was pouring. The lama tree, again raining, the tent was nice and warm though, especially with about three duvets. And now outside it is sooo cold. Alan went to the bridging camp yesterday morning with the dog and called me up to come and take a photo of chesil beach because the water was 'smoking'. He forgot to tell me that my hands would not work in the cold. Weymouth ... read more

Wow a trip to Madrid. Alan and I and Rod and Elma went a few years ago and had agreat time so I knew we would enjoy it. Last year we all went to Barcelona and we loved the contrast of sea and city, so how would we all get on, us beach hut girls without being able to see the sea??? Madrid is a vibrant city. We arrived about 6 pm, just in time to settle into our large apartment, a bedroom each so great, also right next to the Palace and near plaza de mayor. We shot off to plaza de mayor and various other tapas areas to eat loads of tapas, drink many bottles of wine. It was beautifully lit at night, but quite chilly. If they make me speak spanish to any more ... read more

When Alison and Sue asked me to go to Marrakech for a few days I could not help but remember my last visit. I went with Alan when Bruce was about 18 months old. Everywhere we went the local people were besotted with this beautiful little blond boy, trying to pull him out of his pushchair and giving him things. Not to mention one stall holder grabbing one arm and alan the other while I was like an elastic band between them!! Would it have changed? Or maybe in those last 25 years it would seem less frantic. The night before we were due to go Sue rang up to say that she had gastroenteritis...before she even left the country. Alison and I had emergency phonecalls but decided we would go anyway. We arrived at gatwick ... read more

ANTIGUA (more on other site: http://perthamina.spaces.live.com/) Lifting out at jolly harbor The last few days went in a blur. We had a lovely motor up to jolly harbour, the sea was sparkling, no wind, just as well ,. we had taken down the foresail already and it was tucked up in the front cabin. The approach to Jolly harbour is in very shallow water, over the reef and as always the water was such a beautiful colour...why are we going home!! We went and got some fuel and water and then into the marina, as normal when it is time to moor up, the wind starts to blow like mad across the mooring!! The berthing master at jolly is called william and he is fond of shouting instructions. Of course alan is deaf and ccannot understand ... read more
