Budapest It all started to go wrong when we went to the wrong station when leaving Vienna. After looking at the departure board and not seeing our train, and looking at our ticket, we realised we have 25 minutes to get to Westbanhof and on to our train. Luckily we made it by the skin of our teeth, as we sat down in our seats the train pulled off. PHEW. Once in Budapest, the transport really confused us, and the metro and a couple of trams later (and buying bottles of water to get the right change) we managed to get to our hostel. BUT, when we arrived there... wet, tired and up lots of stairs with our heavy bags... a fat smelly man high on coke with broken english told us that we couldnt stay ... read more
Vienna Arrive in VĂenna yesterday. The train journey from Prague was awful, with our coach being the only one without air conditioning. It was a really hot day, and the 4 and half hour jouney was not helped by passing the most inviting swimming pool, which had a slide and every thing. Luckily I had reserved train seats as the corridors were littered with people and their bags. We also had our own compartment on the train, so it felt like being on the way to Hogwarts. After working ourway from the train station to the hostel and much needed showers, we went out to our final meal with Dina and Nat. Dina and Nat left this morning to go back home. But we were so exhausted we slept in and never had chance to say ... read more
Prague Prague is so beautiful. All the buildings are picturesques and the views are stunning. We arrived yesterday lunch time, and managed to get to our hostel after getting to grips with the metro and the tram. After a nap we went into town to explore. In time square there was a clock that had a skeleton ring a bell on the hour then people statue things started to move about. Was rather scary, tho bit of a disappointment as it was on the list of to see things in Prague. If you blinked it could have easily been missed. In time square we then bumped into two Americans (Max and Jason) we met in Amsterdam (we played chess) and went for dinner and drinks with them. They got mashed off their faces, the lightweights. Today ... read more
Berlin In Berlin now... only been here a day and knackard. Went to Berlin Zoo today, which was quite good, and saw some buildings which I cant remember the name of (ignorant I know sorry). On the way back saw groups of men just sunbathing naked in the park, just stretched out was really bizzar and random. Saw just under half of the Babylon exhibition as they took our money then kicked us out to close the museum. Going for some German food and beer tonight, in an outside beer garden that overlooks a lake. Sorry brief internet time running out also bad spelling and grammar. The keyboard isnt normal, cant find half the keys. ... read more
Amsterdam We are now in rainy/sunny Amsterdam. When we arrived before we checked out Bloemenmarkt (the flower market) and got a bit confused by the canals - ended up walking in circles. Tried out some typical Dutch food Hotchpotch which was very filling and tastey. Yesterday pretended to be 17/18 to get in free at the Rjiksmuseum but ended up paying E12.50 at Van Gogh so it kinda balanced it out a bit. Checked out the red light district!! Eye opening. haha. Today we played an intense game of out door chess... it was a battle of brains and in Nat's case braun. Unsurprisingly Dina and I won! We tested out driving skills on a pedalo, Jo turned out the only one good at stearing, Nat on navigating, Sophie on parking. What did Dina and I ... read more
Before setting off So my bags.... bag, or backpack should I say is packed. Probably have way too many clothes but it was hard to decide what to take. Never really thought about how many clothes I could possibly need for a month, let alone get my mind around just having the bare minimum to fit into my backpack. I've probably pack the wrong stuff, and things that just don't go. So don't judge what I'll be wearing hehe as its guaranteed to be bloody awful. Final thing I had to do today was pick up my Hungarian Florents from the Post Office, which I ordered. After queue for about 45 minutes they had my order written down in their book but hadn't placed it... nightmare. So not sure what I am going to do. Guess ... read more
