Hi lads, it's good to hear from you all again. Glad to hear you are still enjoying the trip. Aussie looks great. Don't know if Carl has been in touch lately - he's just been to Egypt for a week, Dave and I have just got back from Tenerife. Sounds pretty tame compared to your life out there, but we had a nice chill out. Can't wait to see you all, it won't be long now and we can have another party! Got to go and catch up on ironing and washing....boring!!! Love Chris xxx

Tommy - From: Jackaroo to Butcher: Outback life from the Pommie perspective: Part 3of 4 Tommy the Pommie 29/08/07
Woody, you have to ask them why they call us pommy & tommy. Its so hard to find out, one place will say its from Port of Melbourne (POM too POMMY) & another will say its from something like Prisoners of Mother England. Im sure Tommy comes from Tommy Atins & is now the universal name for a British soldier..who knows?

Well you have my sympathy for the trauma of the branding. I had to go to the abattoir a few months ago to get cows legs to cut up (don't ask!) and that was pretty gross, so I imagine that it's even worse with live animals. Hope you get to go in the chopper again to erase the nasty memory. Glad you're having a good time.

As in all countries we have the haves and have nots America ,England and also Thailand. KP1958 focused on one small critisism in the blog but there are many good points that promote Thailand which are cleary identified in the authors blog and would encourage people to visit and contribute to the Thai way fo life. Keep the balanced reviews up Martyn.

Ha ha! How long is your Christmas holiday back in your country? Is it just 1 or 2 or 5 days or even more? I guess you also have long Spring(?) or Easter(?) break. Do these mean that you are much weirder than us Thais?

- From: Simplest person ever! Orphanage
How do you know education is neglected in Thailand? How do you classify countries simply as successful or unsuccessful? Isn't each country either more or less successful than another? Why do some people like you see things in black and white - rich/poor, good/bad, democratic/undemocratic, First World/Third World, etc. Thailand is doing better than roughly 2/3 of all the countries in the world. Don't you notice that Thailand is a relatively modern nation with very good infrastructure and a literate population? Though far from being a dreamed country, it is not a bad place to live in at all. On the surface, it sounds good that you contributed something back to the host country" by doing a volunteer work. But can't you learn to give without having disdain for the recipient?

Spinney News - From: Hmm BEER!! Castlemaine XXXX
Hiya lads Glad to hear you have not lost your touch (bar work I mean of course) Not sure about the optic smashing, did we get to know about that? We need some staff at the moment, you're both a hard act to follow lol! I expect you will have heard from Carl and the rest of them, I'm sure you will get to know about their Tenerife antics, if not ask about Carl's glasses and who snores the loudest. We have a new addition to the pub - our little smokers den. When I work out how to send photos I will send you some pics of us all in the monsoon season. We are in need of some sun so keep up the news, it brightens up our day! Love Chris xx

Seriously keep them coming - the photos I mean. Glad to hear u r all okay, I've just worked out what lol means - this email speak is hard for us oldies you know. Hi Boys, you're not the only ones globetrotting - us old uns (Danny's Nan and Grandad) have crossed the Big Pond and we're in Canada. They don't know what's hit them! Enjoying following your antics in "Sheila Land". We've had many a laugh, keep writing Woody. It's so hot here but nothing a few beers can't put right. Next week we're off to Niagara Falls, might be my big chance to get rid of Grandad! Hope to see you all in February (minus the usual holiday romances) Love Nan and Grandad, Val and Ray (can you remember them?)

Since Facebook, nobody seems to put comments on here, so sorry if it looks like it's me sending comments all the time. Again great journal, gives us an idea where you are staying although some photos look like artist impressions. Haven't seen many Aussie photo's, suppose you are all busy at work or asleep and saving for your next trip. I know you went to a beach the other weekend, what did you get up to? I bet you were trying out your surfing skills. Not sure how good you all are maybe sticking to surfing the web is an easier option. Andy and I off to Sunny Beach, Bulgaria tomorrow for a week, cant wait. Maybe we will post some photos on the facebook (if we can work out how to add an album) Take care, Luv to you all bye for now Pat xxx

Hello to Auzzie - From: Down under
Woody - you know how to cheer people up, as i am reading this journal i can picture the scenes (not sure about pole dancing Dan though, can't quite get the picture here, DANCING!!!). Anyway, Sydney hostels should be more civilised than Thailand, but you get what you pay for. You have most likely completed the 5 day surf school course and all experts by now lol! Money running low now it brings us on to the subject of WORK (or fruit picking as a better word). Hope you find something that suits you all and pays enough to keep you in the customs you are used to, not forgetting accommodation. Bye for now xx

Well its off to Australia now. It has been most enjoyable reading the blogg so far. To sum it up your time in Thailand has looked fantastic, like one big adventure holiday. A little bit of painting in between (theraputic i believe). Please keep up your journals i know i look forward to reading them. Probably your time in Australia will not be as hectic as Thailand and will be more laid back. Good luck with the surft school and let us see some pictures soon. Luv to you all Pat xx

Its not just them dutch girls who always see you with a beer. If you wanted to convince us that you're all not a bunch of raging alcoholics. Maybe you shouldn't have included that photo of you and Sharpy stud in front of a million empty chang cans. You should buy some of that counterfit clothing and sell it on ebay to help fund your boozing when you get back.

Warming up - From: Pool Party
Well, finally it looks like we are going to have nice weather at home for the Easter break which makes a change. Recent journal 4 April is another good read (not sure what's going on with frog in the picture and not sure whos eyes are more glazed, the frog or Dan's). Can't seem to follow your travel from the programme at home but have a rough idea. I think you are probably living with a tribe or helping in the orphanage this week, I am sure whatever, it will be another great experience. You are all looking well tanned and can see that the hair is growing (that's Danny and Woody only, soz Taz). Sorry for being naive but i "twisted it a bit" and still could not work out what Taz had gone to Bangkok for (Ping Pong)?? any more clues would be helpful. have to go now time for dinner. Photos you sent on email were great. Dan's Dad (Andy) has set up a website of his own and has posted the emailed photo's on to it and forwarded the link to a few people. Any other photos that you email he will keep adding to this web. Can't believe you are doing the Koh Phangan trip again (18 hours) for the Full Moon party, thought you had had enough by the time you left there. Woody, mind them grates, i shoud imagine the first aid box is running low of baby wipes and antiseptic cream. Looks like you are all having a fantastic time. Good luck with the tribe experience.
