Love those Squalls
Love those Squalls
It looks beautiful, but it isn't when you're on a boat i the ocean heading there.
Well, we have finally arrived to our final sailing destination, at least for 6 months or so. We left Bahia Ballena, Costa Rica about 10 days ago. It took us 6 days to reach here, and entered the Rio Chone, and the town of Bahia Caraquez, on the seventh day in the morning. We kept watching the weather patterns, and it looked like there was going to be a lot of weather, no matter when we left, so after supposedly....a tropical wave had passed west of Costa Rica, we decided to head out. We had planned to go west as much [View Full Entry]

We were ready for a respite from the splashing and the short choppy waves.
Hello everyone. Well, it's been about 12 days since we left Bahia de Sol, in El Salvador. Crossing over the bar there was a little intimadating, but we did it, and then headed out some miles from shore, and turned a slight left (port) towards Costa Rica. This area of Central America is known for Papagayo winds .they weren't kidding. We actually didn't get a true Papagayo wind, but it was blustery enough for us. It started out sweet, mellow, then we turned a cape, and it came right at us, a Southeast wind, right in the direction we wanted to [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! Yep, we are still here in El Salvador. We are waiting to receive a Solenoid that we ordered, and the delivery missed the carrier by a few hours, so luckily we had a contact up in the same area (Seattle) who was flying down here about 5 days later. So through phone calls and overenighting the package UPS, supposedly it will arrive here Thursday. We may be leaving here Thursday, so we will have our friends, Bill & Jean, bring it to Ecuador. We are reading our weather files, and listening to a Pan Pacific Net in the mornings, [View Full Entry]

A good friend, Bill, turned me onto Movie Maker from Microsoft on the computer, therefore I put together a video clip of us sailing into El Salvador. I added some music too! Hope it downloads, and I hope you enjoy it. Jean [View Full Entry]

Battered Buildings
Battered Buildings
San Salvador's buildings that really need an overhaul. This was across the street from the Ipod fix-it place.
AFter the last blog, it was time to take a trip to the inland and see other parts of El Salvador. We hauled the dingy up onto the boat, and cleaned out the fridge. Had our friend, Theresa, take us ahore with our small backpacks with a few days of clothes. It's been a long time since I bussed it with a backpack, boy am I getting older...notice I didn't say OLD, just older. Robin's pack was longer and slimmer and mine was too wide, mostly it sat on my lap. Those dang hair products and face creams really can fill [View Full Entry]

Always wanted to have this done, so I gave some $ to a nice lady at the center park (Zocolo) in Huatulco. It lasted about 6 days, then my hair started to get frizzy and itching. It took a time to un... [more]
Well, we made it here in 5 days of wonderful travel. The week we were in Mexico in Huatulco was fun too, so I will start with that time period first. We pulled into the marina and it was sooooo nice to have a hose with water to wash all the salt off everything. We gathered together with other yatistas heading south like ourselves. We went out to eat, hung out on each other's boats and traded stories. We also did a good repair job on the radar, thanks to Mr. Bill, our sailor-helper guy. He is not the only one, [View Full Entry]

Well, here we are still in Huatulco waiting for a weather window to cross the fearsome Tuhuantepec (sp?), I'm not being facitious (sp?) either, it can be a dangerous passage if you just go whenever, so we sit in a nice marina and wait. It´s not too bad, as we have endless fresh water and electricity. It is unbelievably hot down here and we are taking cold showers 2 to 3 times a day to cool off. El Presidente came here today, but we didn´t see him as he was in the resort area south of us. Supposedly he is designating [View Full Entry]

Ah, Yes Tennecatita
Ah, Yes Tennecatita
Such a beautiful and restful place after the rough ride down the coast.
Well, here we are in Huatulco, after 600 or so miles south from La Cruz in Banderas Bay. It´s been a long time getting to a internet site to post our travels and photos. I hope I do our last 17 days justice, for we have done alot and seen alot. The photos will help, I´m sure. We left Punta Mita in the morning. Not much wind at first, then we got to about 15 miles off the coast, and a nice wind off our starboard quarter kicked in, and we were sailing along at 6 knots or so. It was [View Full Entry]

Just a quick note. I read over the blog and made a few typing, spelling errors. I'm sure you'll beable to figure them out. sorry, I was in a rush to put the photos on before my internet connection failed, so I didn't edit. I will be more careful in the future. Also, some of the photos are a little blurry...the boat is always moving, and it's hard to get a clean picture sometimes, but I will work on that also. Oh, yeah, Sandy...I DO NOT MISS SCHOOL, not even a little...ha! he, he, he! [View Full Entry]

Hangin in La Cruz
Ah, Robin really loves this cruising life-style, loves to have something to do other than read and relax..
Well, I'm trying to put these photos on this blog, and hopefully I have a good strong connection, it will work. Before I do that, I will give you a little sampling of the crusing life....Not cocktails in the cockpit. Today we are getting ready to leave La Cruz, and it's non too soon. I think we overstayed our visit, but when Robin had to replace the steering cables, I knew it would be a few days. The weather is HOT and MUGGY in the mornings before the breeze fills in, but then when the breeze fills in, the seas become [View Full Entry]
