Hello! Since our last entry we've headed south again. Florence is absolutely beautiful but really tiny compared to Rome. It only takes 20 minutes to wander through the centre which is nice since our feet aren't killing QUITE so much. The first two days we spent on a culture binge. MichaelAngelo's David is housed in Florence so it was top of our list. It was SO amazing. Five meters tall and with SO much detail. It was really imposing and you can easily see why it's one of the most famous sculptures in the world. The food has been wonderful in Florence. We ordered a Tuscan T-bone steak which was so big they had to bring over another table to support it. We're ashamed to say that we didn't finish it. We both now know how ... read more

Last night in the northern lakes tonight and we are so glad that we chose Lake Iseo over its more well known neighbours, lakes Garda and como. It's been a really lovely few days here, although we really had a fabulous time visiting the cities we felt that we needed a holiday to recover from ourholiday. We have really landed on our feet here and managed to wangle 2 full days of bike hire for free, which meant we could overlook the fact that Hannah's bike only had 1 gear and the seat wouldn't go high enough .... Have u ever seen a giraffe riding a bicycle? It was like that. But nevertheless we soldiered on around the coast, avoiding speeding mopeds and "the tunnel of death" (no explanation necessary!!). We eventually found a nice secluded ... read more

Hello all! So since we last posted from the southern coast we've travelled up North. The journey up North was so unfortunate it will be being made into a film later on this year. Actresses are yet to be confirmed but expect something special. But an early start, one tram, two trains, one bus and a lot of stress later and we arrived at 'the Hotel of Chocolate and Flowers'. Thankfully itwasn't quite as romantic as it sounds (much to our relief). It was straight into town for my birthday treat! Every year Verona hosts an open air opera festival in the Roman Amphitheatre. The opera itself was amazing but the atmosphere was completely fabulous! Being sat out with a full moon in a place that people have gathered for thousands of years to be entertained ... read more

Hi again, from sunny Sant'Agnello this time! We left Rome yesterday morning... very sad as it was such a great place to explore, but after killing our feet for 3 days we thought it would be quite nice to have a proper holiday. We've had a bit of a culture fix by going to see Hercaleneum - the lesser known Pompei, near Mt Vesuvius. Very happy it didn't erupt I have to say! It was quite incrediable to see that not only did people make beautiful mosaics and works of art 2000 years ago, but those works actually managed to survive first an earthquake, then a volcanic eruption - whereas my sunglasses have already broken.... stupid modern plastic. Maybe they would have survived if they were made out of marble, I'll remember that next time. It's ... read more

Buongiorno!!! Yes, we are still alive and well after 3 days in Rome. We are both agreed that Rome is one of the most beautiful cities that we have ever visted. Every time we get lost (which is quite often) we have happened upon another stunning building or other feature. It seems that there is such an excess of amazing architecture that they have taken to just sticking pharmacies in all the left-over space. There aren't as many tourists here as we expected ... dont get us wrong there are loads of tourists, but there is so much to see that everybody seems to manage to spread out quite nicely and leave us to ourselves. Which is good because in this heat, sweaty old men squeezing past you in a queue is the last thing you ... read more
