Dan and I are off on a little adventure on the 24th May 08! We are going away for 7 weeks, visiting Singapore, Eastern Australia, New Zealand and Japan.....well actually its just Tokyo. Many thanks to the people at HPT who are letting Dan and myself have the time off work and supporting us in the build up to this epic voyage! We will try write a blog as often as possible but that will depend on how often we get a spare 5 minutes. Lots to do in a short space of time! Enjoy!

We left Wanaka around 8.30am and headed for the wonderful place that is Queenstown. I had heard of Queenstown before we even started our trip and everyone that we had met in Australia had also told us that Queenstown was the best place in New Zealand. So there were high expectations! We stopped just outside the town at the AJ Hackett Bungy Centre, The Kawarau Bridge! This was the first ever commercial bungy site and I was orginally hoping to do my bungy here. However the Nevis was mentioned. The bridge bungy was 43m and the Nevis was a 'little' higher at 134m, the 2nd biggest bungy in the world. Of course I ended up choosing the Nevis. We booked our bungy for the following day and the watched Gina, a girl from our bus, do ... read more

8am came and I wasn't on the bus. I ran over to the bus 5 minutes late and Phillipa did not look impressed! Fortunately for me there was someone even later than me! The trip to Wanaka was quite a long one and there wasn't a lot to do on the way there. We stopped for a couple of photo's but the real excitment began when the skydive sheet came around! Dan and I were straight in there and decided on the 15,000 ft jump plus a dvd to go with it. Now all we had to do was pray that the weather stayed clear! At first it didn't look promising. The rain was still coming down and there wasn't any blue sky to be seen. However the closer to Wanaka we got the more the ... read more

Hello!!! We finally made it to New Zealand! It is going to be difficult to do the blog for New Zealand because we are always moving on a coach tour called the Kiwi Experience, so I am going to write about NZ in sections. First off we landed at 10.30pm in Christchurch and we were leaving at 8.05am the next day! We went to our hostel via shuttle and once we had dropped our stuff off, we went to the local diner where a truely memorable moment occured! A random local girl started winking at Dan and then got a waitress to bring him her number written on a napkin! She ran off when we turned around and Dan and I couldn't stop laughing. Once we were up, the next morning, we got on to a ... read more

I have decided to add a nice big entry into the blog about Melbourne and Oz in general. When we were in Melbourne Steve did not join me on a couple of trips that I did, so thought it would be good these two amazing excursions a mention. As has already been posted on the blog we went to the Neighbours evening which was not only incredible, but also extremely hilarious. However, during the day I went on the official Neighbours tour where we went around Ramsey Street etc. Mr Lace did not want to go as he doesn't know anything about Neighbours and thought it would be a waste of time and money if he went. So I went with Lucy, a girl who we met at Fraser Island and who decided to join us ... read more

So after another long bus journey we arrived in chilly Melbourne. It wasn't as straight forward, to find our hostel, as usual. First we had to get a tram to St Kilda, then we had to figure out which stop St Kilda was because the trams don't actually let you know and finally we had to find our hostel. It took a good hour to find the hostel. It was a very modern hostel called Base and it had card key locks and an ensuite in every room. The first thing we did was make our way to Melbourne Cricket Ground, the MCG! We were going to watch an AFL (Aussie Rules) game between two rival teams, Carlton and Collingwood. We went with an American girl, called Cindy, from our dorm. She knew more than most ... read more

We rolled up to Sydney Central Station around 8.30am and our hostel was a two minute walk away. Enter the best hostel of the trip so far, Wake Up! It was like a hotel but with bunk beds! It had a giant reception with lounge area and lots of computers, a Cafe with cheap breakfast and most importantly a bar in the basement called 'Side Bar'. So Sydney was off to a very good start and we were ready for some tourist activities. So where did we head....Sydney Opera House! I can't quite describe the feeling that came over me when I first saw the iconic building. It sounds stupid but it suddenly hit me that I was the other side of the world, in the one country I had always wanted to visit and I ... read more

After an evening in Brisbane and a night in a pretty bad hostel, we were heading to Australia Zoo! Our tour guide, for the journey there and back, had worked at the zoo before and was a family friend of the Irwin's. He should us a DVD of Steve Irwin's life on the way there and a picture of him, Steve, Steve's wife and a Tiger! Once we arrived at the Zoo, we could tell that it wasn't like any other Zoo. One of the keepers was taking a Wombat out for a walk, on a lead, around the public paths! We headed for the elephant feeding and had our pictures taken whilst feeding the elephants a tasty carrot! Next we raced to the 'Crocoseum' to watch the Crocodile show! The show started with a snake ... read more

We arrived at Hervey Bay around 9am, from our 13 hour bus ride (which Dan slept 11 hours of!!!). We were picked up by a rough looking bloke who called us scummers after seeing our passports. Fortunately he had only been to Portsmouth University so we had no trouble! Once we arrived at our accommodation we received the devistating news that we had yet another 7am start the following day . We didn't do much apart from relax, pick up some alcohol for the trip (the first time I saw Fosters here!) and have dinner. The following morning we were up very early and ready to get our Fraser Island briefing. Now, for anyone who doesn't know, Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and we were going on a self drive 4X4 ... read more

We arrived in Airlie Beach around 11am and had to be on our sailing boat ready for the Whitsundays trip within an hour! As you can imagine this was a bit of a rush and we made it by 1 minute. We were told that we would need a towel and however much alcohol you wanted. So we bought a crate of beer and were on our way to the docks. Now our boat was called Condor and apparently it has won lots of races all around the world. However this piece of information only made me think that I was going to be seasick whilst onboard. So off I went to the little shop and purchased some completely over priced seasick tablets, and you will be pleased to hear that they did the job and ... read more

We managed to make the 6.30 pick up time for our next trip. A visit to Tully River. We had booked ourselves a day of white water rafting! Both Dan and I had been rafting before, Dan in Canada and myself in the exotic country of Wales. This caused us to go on the 'Extreme' package, which included a crazy guide to take you down the river, opportunities to get out of the raft to jump off 20-25ft rocks, have a swim and most importantly.....have lunch before anyone else on the river. After we had received our lovely tight yellow wet suits we headed up the river by mini bus with our 3 guides, Paul, Ben and ..... Fisherman (apparently it is a biblical name). They explained to us that there are 6 Grades of rapid; ... read more
