Bob and the Land of the Perpetual Sun Part 2 Waking up to a traditional Finnish breakfast I waded through the selection of fine cold meats and a bowl of cornflakes. Feeling relaxed and ready for the day’s events ahead, I decided to head down to the hotel lobby to meet up with the rest of the holiday group. Whilst relaxing on a chair that I could only describe as functional fashion and straight out of a IKEA showroom I could not help but over hear a conversation between a couple of ladies talking about a three legged poodle called BooBoo that had eaten her favourite slippers and had regurgitated them on the back seat of her hatchback Daewoo. Bob and the Land of the Perpetual Sun Part 1 6th June, 23:15, A Helsinki rooftop terrace bar, an exotic Russian cocktail and the sun teetering just on the horizon-almost setting but just can’t quite make it. We were witnessing one of the most spectacular phenomena in the northern hemisphere, an epic battle between the sunset and the horizon. This awe inspiring sight of almost 24 hour sunshine a day is truly a sight to behold. One of my first thoughts was how the early discoverers would have felt when they first landed on the Scandinavian shores and realised that the sun didn’t set. Bob and the Mighty Zulus By Bob Harding Adventure holidays were just not my bag. In fact saying “just not my bag” was just not me, until my wife whisked me off to an amazing adventure to the depths of Norway on a husky / snowmobile safari . Let me tell you there’s nothing more exhilarating than seeing the Northern lights whilst being mushed through an ancient Nordic forest by huskies.
