| 9th January 2009 Mel | Beautiful! - From: Old world streetscapes, taverns, towers, and tourists… weekending in Prague Prague seems so interesting, beautiful and a tonne of history to boot! The cloud must've looked eerie amongst the old buildings. That astronomical is INCREDIBLE!! I was trying to work it out, not sure what the roman numerals are in the inside of the clock, other than simply a normal clock? But, I reckon that the outside 24 hour clock represent the 'RA' or Right Ascenation (sp?). It's based on the sun at March equinox (sun is above & below equator for exactly 12 hours each), & as the earth orbits the sun, every 15 degrees equates to 1 hour. 15 degrees X 24 hours equals 360 degrees which takes you back to March equinox. I've only just learnt this from my astromy book, it's AMAZING! Also, those characters on the inside might be zodiac? Were old school Czech's into that sort of thing back in the day? Anyways, thanks for sharing 'cos it's made my day! xox |

Are you planning to visit Latvia again? If yes, may be I would sugest to make a circle to Latgale - East part of Latvia, the region with old traditions of folklore, old churches (the density of churches are the highest in comparing to other regions of Latvia), culinary heritage and many more. Pure nature, kind and hartly people. You are welcome! |
