Today was the beginning our adventure. We said our goodbyes and headed west to Tenterfield via the winding road over the Great Dividing Range. The van made for a slow trip up the hill before making our way to Stanthorpe and the “Big Apple” (definitely not NewYork). We visited a a place called Granite Belt Maze to burn of some energy and stretch our legs before arriving in Allora just north of Warwick for our first road side camp. [View Full Entry]

Everything is on track. Settlement for the house is on the 9th of May and all the last minute modification to the van are underway. We have decided to invest in a brand new Nissan Patrol. the Old one is doing fine and has given us no trouble but we had the opportunity to buy a new one at a great price so now have a vehicle that is under warranty ready to go for the trip and the 2001 model can retire to a good home and not pull the watergate hotel behind it anymore. We have had an offer on the house and have gladly accepted. Contracts are being drawn up as we speak so providing everything goes well we will be on the road by July 6. Still many many things to do to get ready but the worst is over we hope.... will keep you posted. Love to all [View Full Entry]

Well Finally after a lot of blood sweat and renovation tears the house is FOR SALE...We are hoping it will sell quickly. If it has not sold by the end of April it will be close to catastrophic- no only joking but we will be looking at another way to fund our trip so fingers crossed. Has been a while since we added to the blog.. A lot has happened but we are still on track and planning the big adventure. Hope to leave Casino on the 6th of July 2008. The house will be on the market after Xmas and hopefully sold by March. Dannielle our 12 year old daughter fell from her horse in July this year and has a brain injury but is recovering well and will hopefully be in perfect health by early next year. We have completed stage one our preparations and finally purchased our vehicle and Jayco Expander. We previously mentioned that the best combination was a Toyota Landcruiser and Jayco Expander Outback Van, well the Landcruiser option has had a few modifications due to purchase price and is now turned into a 2001 Nissan Patrol 4.2 Turbo Diesel. We bought it for a great price and having travelled only 145000 km it is only just broken in. We will need to make a few modifications to it along the way to make it perfect.
