We travelled to Esperance where it was still windy and cold but at least the sun was shining. Tuesday was spent doing some school work and catching up on washing etc Wednesday we decided to take a drive out to Le Grande National Park to see some of WA most beautiful beaches and we were not disappointed. Le Grande beach was amazing and had a great camping area on the beach, but Hellfire Bay was a favourite and the colour of the water was amazingly blue with pure white sand. [View Full Entry]

Albany was cold, real cold and windy we didn’t feel much like doing much the first day. But the next day was better so we headed out to explore. Our first stop was Whale World, this was Albany’s old whaling station that closed down in the 1980’s. The tour around it was pretty gross, they explained ever step of the whaling process from chasing and catching the whales to bringing them to the station and slaughtering them. It has some great stuff too like a massive blue whale skeleton, and a 3D movie on whales shown in a converted storage tank. [View Full Entry]

Hopped of at the Maritime Museum and explored the history of all sorts of boats including the real Australia 2 that won the Americas Cup in 1983. Wednesday was Watergate repair day we had to get a few little things patched up ,like fly screen and a recall on the electric awning nothing major. Thursday we decided we liked Fremantle that much we thought we would go see some more, Steve did [View Full Entry]

We left the Watergate in Perth for the night and spent two days exploring the South West of WA. First stop was Rockingham were we were planning on swimming with the Dolphins but the tours don’t start until mid October, other than that Rockingham does have much going for it so we moved on to Mandurah, we found Abingdon Miniature Village, a place that had a Maze and miniature village so the kids spent ages running around and we all had a great time in the Maze before heading into town for lunch when the weather turned really bad windy, cold [View Full Entry]

WE left Exmouth and headed south enroute to Carnarvon but decided to stop at Coral bay for another snorkel, before saying goodbye to the reef and making our way south. We arrived late into Carnarvon and set up in the Big 4 caravan park that had a great view of the OTC satellite dish that is now not in use but was used to communicate with the Apollo missions and to also track Halley's Comet. Still travelling south we arrived in Denham for a couple of days to explore the area , the highlight was to see the Dolphins at Monkey [View Full Entry]

Back on the road toward Perth, We made it as far as Geraldton, Dannielle has been exploring her skills as family chef, I am not sure if we have a Jamie Oliver due to the creativity or a Gordon Ramsey because of the attitude when things go wrong but the food is good. We continued on to the Cervantes and the Pinnacles today, almost arrived at Perth but stopped just north, the weather is a little cooler and we have even seen a little rain which we haven’t seen a drop of since we left home, not happy but still having [View Full Entry]

We arrived in Exmouth, a small coastal town at the tip The Ningaloo Reef, the reef is WA’s answer to the Great Barrier Reef but the coral is right on the shoreline so we spent the next day, snorkeling up and down Turquoise Bay looking for “Nemo” and we even managed to chase a turtle or two. The coral was amazing too, very colourful. It was amazing to see it so close to the shore only 10m in places, so Samuel got to practice his snorkeling skills and see “Dory” and “Nemo” for real. Steve, Shay and Julie kept snorkelling after [View Full Entry]

Broome - The girls were very excited to finally be at the beach, Cable Beach in fact, one of the most famous beaches in Australia. We spent a few days exploring Broome while we wait for Stephs friend Shay to arrive, she is travelling with us for 3 weeks on our way to Perth. We drove out to Gantheume Point and Sam took a dip in Anastasias pool, a small pool carved in the rocky coastline by the lighthouse keeper for his wife to relieve her arthritis, the pool filled up at high tide. Sunset on the beach is amazing here [View Full Entry]
