Cleiton is Brazilian, and he says that Rio is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. But unfortunately, NOT safe. Our only advice, is take with you whatever that if you lose, or get stollen it will not be missed. So if you care about that expensive watch, rings, jewelry, etc LEAVE IT in the hotel. Our money ALWAYS, goes in our socks ( which has saved our behinds before). Ipanema and Copacabana is where most tourists hang. Ipanema is much more gay. Rua Farme de Amoedo is the gay street, which is between Posto 8 and 9 ( life guard stations), also the best gay beach ( voted one of the Top 10 in the world). Thailand, has to be one of our favorite places to vacation!!! The Thais are amazing people, friendly and are always smiling... Cleiton likes to describe Bangkok as a big, intense, dirty ( in the good way) city!!! if possible, try to stay by a BTS/Skytrain station. But taxis are cheap! Taxis: At the airport, go outside arrivals and follow signs to Public Taxis. Do NOT book the private cars ( too expensive) In the city, make sure they turn the meter on! Or sit there until they do, or pretend you are taking a picture of their license, that will make them turn the meter promptly. LOL They don't like it, but it works. We've been twice to Bogota for long weekends. Nice city and very reasonable. One of our favorite restaurants is: La Esquina de la Mona - Calle 82 14-32 Great restaurant with really cheap steaks and potatoes! Down the street from the Hard Rock Café Bars of interest to us.
