| 8th December 2007 Moe and Colin | - From: Two days in Prague Pleased to see that you arrived ok at your next destination. It looks a facinating city. Hope its not too cold. It has not stopped raining since you left here!! |
| 8th December 2007 Thelma | Prague - From: Two days in Prague Well this all looks very interesting. I love the bridges. I knew there had to have been a bridge somewhere in the world called Judith !!I didn't just name my kids a "Fad Name". And it looks like you are having a feast, Rags, in that first piccie, I hope you didn't eat all of the food in the Pic !!I feel sure Judy's share is there too. Enjoy the cruise, love Mum |
| 5th December 2007 Thelma | UK - From: Last days in England Have enjoyed following your holiday travels around the UK. I am now looking forward to reading about your cruise and your Christmas in Holland. Enjoy it all, love Mum |
| 4th December 2007 Dana | - From: A holiday from a holiday Hi Judy and Rags, I have loved reading your very entertaing blogs, you must be having a wonderful time and seeing so much. I don't blame you for avoiding the swims Judy as it must be freezing, though nice to warm up at the bar later. Thelma asked me to pass on a few thoughts from China. I think the main thing is to avoid drinking any tap water and have bottled, even to wash your mouth out when you clean your teeth. If the water is a bit boring the beer is very good and cheap and you can buy it anywhere (not that I tried it for my teeth). It is not always cold but I think that the weather you will be in will cool it pretty quickly. The best wine is as good as our worst cask stuff and if you fancy some of this take a cork screw with you. I don't know about the spirits and if you pointed a finger at smeone to indicate a measure anything could happen! Language communication is a real problem Take a lot of small packs of tissues with you as toilet paper is not high on their list of prioritys, and anti bacterial hand wash is a must. Speaking of toilets the cleanest western ones were in McDonalds, but most of the others left a lot to be desired. I shall look forward to reading your thoughts on the squats. Always remember to take a hotel card with you as you will find it hard to communicate with the taxi drivers. I hope you have a great time as it is a very interesting country. Stay healthy and if it rains don't slip on the spit! |
| 24th November 2007 Weggs | Cold - From: Last Week in Bardfield Yes, it has turned quite cold now. When Rags was raking this morning he said there was some white stuff which he thought looked like fertilizer but then realised was ice from the overnight frost. We're having second thoughts about the cold weather in China! Enjoy your holiday too. We'll put lots of photos up of the canaries when we get back here next Monday. |
| 24th November 2007 Thelma | added photos - From: Last Week in Bardfield See what you mean about being cold. The photos are good though. Hope you enjoy your stay in the Canary Islands, it will be a bit warmer there. Will look for piccies when you come back, bye now, love Mum |
| 19th November 2007 Mandys | Lucy and Roman - From: A Taste of Scotland Hi there, glad to see you're still enjoying the delights of travel. Too bad that we've finished ours and having to look on enviously! Cheers! Hope you keep warm with lots of good warming tipple! |
| 18th November 2007 Weggs | Derby - From: A taste of the Lakes District Oh Dave, wish you'd told us there was something to see at Derby before we went passed it! We'd always love to stay longer in an area especially the Lakes District and Ben Lomond Park. Thanks for the comments. Cheers Judy |
| 18th November 2007 Dave | Derby - From: A taste of the Lakes District It was a shame that you bypassed Derby, where "Bonny Prince Charlie" arrived at on his conquest of England. There are hills of limestone where you pick up fossilised sea shells and the ‘Blue John Mines plus the plague village of Eyam and not forgetting the grave of Little John of Robin Hood days at Hathersage. Roman Roads abound in that area and many 7,000 year old Neolithic grave sites. |
| 18th November 2007 Dave | Been there - From: A taste of the Lakes District Blackpool? I was in the Police in that area on Traffic. Yes the lights are better at night. But many things are, I had a wife that was! The Lakes are magnificent and an artists delight. Spend more time in places if you are able. There is SO much to see of years past. |
| 18th November 2007 Dave - Mum's fried | Och! Away - From: A Taste of Scotland Lovely to see the photos. But - don't use warm water to wash off the ice from the windscreen! You can crack it! Scrape it off with a credit card (Expired) or buy de-icer from a garage. I know the Lake District well - pleased you managed to see it. Enjoy the haggis and the black pudding, Savoury Duck and all those things. Dave - Harold Hawthorne |
| 17th November 2007 Larni | - From: A Taste of Scotland Hi there Glad you made it to Edinburgh, you got better pics than me! Shame you didn't go into Glasgow it is very different but you cant do it all. Im glad the food is getting mentions, my cuisine page has had lots of hits. well it was hard to come back to the land of the living. We sat with two nurses who work in the Hospital at Blackpool and exactly as they described i think. They were gorgeous girls though that commuted there. Stay safe, keep writing xx |
| 17th November 2007 Weggs | Scottish Flag - From: A Taste of Scotland Oops, and I was a Boy Scout! Have fixed. Glad all well in Vallarta Jim, could do with a bit of your temperature here at the moment! Keep in touch. Cheers Rags |
| 17th November 2007 Thelma | Scotland. - From: A Taste of Scotland Well Scotland certainly looks a very interesting place to visit. Don't they call it the Home of the Brave ? I think I can see why now. There looks like a lot of climbing to me! But the views are magnificent that's for sure. And how did you enjoy the Haggis, Rags? I could have eaten the Black Pudding because I like that, but no-one here in Perth, Aust. seems to be able to make it properly. Did you tell that lady that made the comment about Judy being "A Bonny Lass", that it runs in her family ??? Pity about the cold weather you had, but I suppose it was expected. Rags you could have bought some Moleskins at the R M Williams store. I think they have one here in Perth, I know they have one in Adelaide.(I used to know someone in the Mounted Police who wore them all the time.) Cheers, Love Mum |
| 17th November 2007 Thelma | Lakes District - From: A taste of the Lakes District The UK really looks a lovely country, especially the Lakes area. And it seems you were there at the right time when the Autumn leaves were in full colour, the photos are great. Pam has told me about the Blackpool Rock. What did it taste like and do you think the English Lollie Shop at Hilarys would sell it ? Sounds like your having a great time munching your way through your travels. Did Rags get to taste the Haggis ? It doesn't appeal to me when I hear the Poms over here talking about it, but I suppose I would have to have a taste for myself if I was in the home of the Haggis! Glad to hear the weather was kind to you. Cheers, love Mum |
| 16th November 2007 jim | the homeland - From: A Taste of Scotland hola amigos... all is well here in vallarta. rosa sends her love. i see you are in my wonderful homeland. i feel i must correct you on our flag. it's a white cross on a blue background, hence the background colour of the union jack. i bet your perth is much more inviting in climate than ours. billy connolly says that you can spot a scotsman with a tan... that's when he stops being blue and turns white. loving this blog... we are hearing the true report on judy's attack of "turista" (montezuma's revenge). hope she feels great now. |
| 9th November 2007 jim | family visits - From: Catching up with family and other days we go back to england/scotland every couple of years to visit the ever expanding family. it's great to find those that you have never met. we are now in vallarta and very glad to be home. neighbours have told us how judy had the turista and poor old rags was not as accommodating as he should have been. tsk tsk tsk. all your old friends say hello. thanks for the great perth baseball cap. much appreciated. we live vicariously through you very complete journals. ciao jim |
| 7th November 2007 Pat | Icome - From: Catching up with family and other days At long last the Icome's history. Did you get information about Mary Ann and Charles being cousins, and about her father Thomas who was a soldier. What regiment and where was he stationed. Also where was Mary Ann born (High seas) tells us nothing. I am excited. If you get a chance please pass on the information to me... Pat |
| 7th November 2007 Thelma | China - From: Catching up with family and other days Hi Jude and Rags: the heading of this comment is China because I have Dana sitting here with me telling me about China. | 20th October 2007 Thelma | London - From: London for Chinese Visas How very exciting it all sounds ! The pics are great. I was particularly interested in the photo of Walthamstow. If my memory serves me right, that is where my Dad was living when they left for Australia. He used to talk about things in Walthamstow and the hard times they had. So at least one of his ancestors has trodden the ground he thought was sacred !Dad would have been so chuffed to know you were in London. Lots of love |
| 19th October 2007 Weggs | Trust you! - From: A day in Suffolk I told Rags not to inlcude that bit. Trust you to pick it up! Hope all is well in the west. We'll keep on having a great time. |
| 19th October 2007 Thelma | Floral City - From: A day in Suffolk If that is what the Floral City looks like in the "Off" season, I sure would like to see it when the gardens are at their best !! The buildings all look very interesting. So different from Perth ! But perhaps in a couple of thousand years we can catch up. Sounds like your seeing plenty and are so lucky to have a car to get around in. |

| 13th October 2007 Weggs | Travel bug - From: Our last day in Croatia. When we sat in the bus waiting for it to goin Opatija we were struck with the travel bug when we saw all the places both in Croatia and in Europe that we could have caught the bus to but never mind we were off to adventures in England! |

| 12th October 2007 Thelma | The last photo - From: Peaceful Opatije I loved looking at the photos of the beautiful old homes, but that last one of the "Swimmer" took my breath away !!! |
| 11th October 2007 Thelma | Croatia - From: Our last day in Croatia. Well your holiday in Croatia seemed to go very quickly, but you managed to give us a good look at the country. I suppose Rags would have liked to pack one of those ceramic containers full of wine in his back pack !That would have lasted you for awhile Rags. Hope you have a good flight to London. |
| 11th October 2007 anonymous | - From: Peaceful Opatije thanks for sharing the less flattering sites of your trip... |
| 11th October 2007 Paul Reid | The adventure continues... - From: Rovinj That picture of the homes on the edge in Rovinj is a cracker. Such history there. Have fun :-) |

| 4th October 2007 Thelma | Dubrovnik - From: Cooler weather at last! Glad to hear you have arrived safe and sound. I bet you are enjoying a bit of cooler weather now. The photos are great.I remember seeing the Alps like that when I went over them, but I didn't think a photo would come out, so didn't take a photo.I dare-say you used the Zoom on your camera. Did you? What a pity everything is so expensive. You'll be noticing it after the prices in Mexico. Keep enjoying yourselves and tasting all that lovely food. |
| 3rd October 2007 jim | - From: Cooler weather at last! glad you made it in one piece. how many exchanges have you made for this entire trip?? how did you find peter and rachel? keep up the excellent blog, as we are living out our future trips through you. |
| 28th September 2007 jim | final days - From: Puerto Vallarta - Final Week sounds like you were hell bent to get everything all in during your visit. the bus driver did an unscrupulous little deed on your trip to playa grande. if you are the only ones on the bus and you don't know where you are going they will do a short turn and not go directly into the village to drop you at the church where i said they would. makes up time and you don't know any better. little bastards, lol. walk was on you, sorry about that. you will have to leave me all sorts of info on the people you have met. hope your visit was a good one. we are getting pretty excited about coming down. we have received another offer from friends to the south in barra de navidad to exchange for a week. check out their place at this site, www.villasantabarbara.ca ... yeah, same name as our place. drop me an email before you leave. cheers jim |
| 24th September 2007 Thelma | Final Week - From: Puerto Vallarta - Final Week Not long now and you'll be on your way again. I hope your able to send as many photos from Croatia as your sending from Mexico. I would love to be going to Croatia, I feel quite envious of that part of your holiday. The beaches look lovely in the photos in Mexico, but ofcourse no-way as beautiful as the beaches at Esperance. The sand looks a dirty tan in P V. Is it ? Hope to receive an answer to my e-mail soon, love Mum |
| 23rd September 2007 Diana Brown | And I thought my favourite colour was green! - From: Puerto Vallarta - Final Week I put off reading your events as I know my yearning will start immediately. I bet you haven't thought about us once :-) Keep on keeping on. Love Di |
| 20th September 2007 Weggs | Drugs - From: Puerto Vallarta - Week 3 I don't think drugs are aproblem here any more than anywhere else. You often get a whiff of marijuana in Perth, just like here. |
