Tassie tour Oceania » Australia » Tasmania
Just returned from a week in Tasmania - i flew there and had a look around Hobart before starting an organised tour with Adventure Tours the following day. The group was pretty mixed and mostly europeans - i was surprised i was the only british person. It was made up of Danish, Swiss, German (of course), Dutch, Irish and Japanese with our Tassie tour guide Gaz (aka Wombat) We hiked to the top of Mount Farrell and took a swim in the lake at the top - it was pretty steep so the swim was lovely, if not a little chilly! Ally(from Glasgow), Katie (from my Great Ocean Road tour) and I went to the Neighbours night and met Paul Robinson, Steph Scully, Toadie and watched Dr Karl's band. It was a great laugh and cool to get our pictures with the "celebs". I was slightly disappointed however that the Legend harold Bishop wasn't there but c'est la vie! [View Full Entry]

Melbourne - the city of Arts, Culture, Cafes and Aussie Football Most people either love Sydney & hate melbourne or vice versa so i was eager to see what the differences were between the cities. Melbourne is definitely a bit more laid back, most people say more european because of all the street cafes. I love Sydney but i must say that Melbourne has grown on me in the past 2 weeks I stayed at the Urban Central hostel in southbank first and it was a super hostel. A few of my travel buddies were already here and I've made a [View Full Entry]

Happy Burns Night everyone! I finally managed to find some haggis in Sydney and made a burns supper of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties (that's turnip and potatoes for those of you who don't know). I decided i should try and teach the germans some scottish culture and even got them to try and recite a burns poem - absolutely hysterical! Happy 50th Birthday to my Dad too!!! The following day was Australia Day and almost everyone spent it in the pub! We watched the fireworks at Darling Harbour which were pretty good and a jet fighter passed overhead with its burners [View Full Entry]

hello and sorry for lack of blog items - been busy partying and then finding myself a job! After a very long flight from Glasgow via Dubai and Bangkok i finally made it back to Sydney on Xmas morning. Laura came to meet me at the airport which was great and then after a quick shower it was over to Lynette's place for Xmas Dinner. She was a great host and we had roast chicken and loads of veg. Lynette's friends Jo, Carson and Niamh celebrated with us too. After alot of bubbles and some vodka we headed down to Bondi [View Full Entry]

Home Sweet Home Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Glasgow
Hi All it's strange writing this blog entry from Glasgow - i really hadn't expected to see everyone from home until my trip finishes in May. However i wanted to see everyone and be with my family after the death of my Gran. So it's unfortunate circumstances but i've loved catching up with everyone. Seeing Lisa was great cos she is 6 months pregnant and i never expected to see her with a huge bump! Yvonne has had a beautiful baby boy - Max, and it was great to meet him for the first time. he's only 11 weeks old and [View Full Entry]

Sydney rocks! Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney
After 5 months in Australia finally made it to Sydney and i loved it as soon as i arrived. Alot of my friends are already here or will be here for Xmas so it's going to be such good fun. Gillian had a few days here before heading back home to Sunny Glasgow so we took in the sights of The Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House etc. Met up with Nicole from sailing too and had a few beers and went to Manly Beach then a huge night out before Gillian left. I was sooooo excited to see my Geordie mate [View Full Entry]

Fraser Island Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Fraser Island
Left Airlie now and took the Greyhound (13 hour drive) down to Hervey Bay so we could go to Fraser Island - the largest sand island in the world. hervey bay is described as a pensioners paradise - it's certainly nothing to look at and the only reason people go there is because it is the gateway for Fraser Island. We took a 4 wheel drive car with 8 strangers and drove around the island seeing the sites - lots of freshwater lakes to swim in too. Our group was 6 cracking lads from Northern Ireland, a swiss girl and 2 [View Full Entry]

we couldn't get any accommodation in brisbane so made an unplanned stop in Noosa and i'm really glad we did cos it's a lovely place. the hostels were full so Gillian and i decided to go flash and got a 1 bedroom apartment in the posh suburbs fully equipped with dishwasher, cable TV and a shower big enough to hold 6 people! The Irish lads and Jess from our boat trip were in Noosa too so we had a great night out partying, which wasn't so good in the morning when we had to get up early and go to Australia [View Full Entry]

After living in the area for almost 3 months i finally went on the 3 day sailing trip that is a must-do for anyone that comes to this area. Gillian and i went on a proper Maxi sailing yacht called the Matador which was absolutely amazing. The weather was really hot until the last day which was a bit overcast, i did 2 dives, saw some great colourful coral and the fish feeding was completely mental - surrounded by about 1,000 fish who are all tickling you so the girls and I were in hysterics and swallowed a fair bit of [View Full Entry]
