Thursday November 2nd 2006 Still at the 79th street Boat Basin Marina in Manhattan NYC, for those that have been here, you know that it is not the Ritz Carlton Hotel. But it is just down the street from it…. Can you imagine that it only costs us a mere $30 dollars per night to stay on their moorings. Not to many places you can stay for $30 dollars per nigh in Manhattan!!! Other than staying over night in a cardboard box!!! Near a heater vent!! So want if this place is little run down!! We arrived at 10am this morning and are presently on a mooring at the 79th Boat Basin Marina. This is a really great place as we are located at uptown Manhattan, on the west end of 79th street. Thursday October 26th. The re-masting went great. Everything was smooth, thanks to the professional team at Hop-O-Nose Marina. We left the marina yesterday morning, with the intention of anchoring in a little hurricane hole right next to Haverstraw, but the winds pipped up to 43 knots and we had to turn into the marina for safe harbour. We spent a windy night on board and are angling to try out for the anchorage once again this afternoon. Plans are to make way for New York as soon as the winds calm down, possibly not until Sunday or Monday. We will keep [View Full Entry]
