Sheet Harbour Light house,
Sheet Harbour Light house,
Sheet Harbour Light house,
Sheet Harbour Nova Scotia We set sail from Fisherman’s Cove this morning and arrived in Sheet Harbour at around 5:pm. The sail was nice and uneventful and we once again tied up to an available dock space at the local fish processing plant. We took a small walk into town and were followed home by a cute little black and white cat, who curled itself between our legs, craving whatever attention it could get. Annie took pity on the poor thing and gave it a small bowl of cream and a few slices of ham we had onboard. When came time [View Full Entry]

September 6th and 7th, Today we set sail from the St-Peter’s canal in Cape Breton, to arrive in Country Harbour and drop the hook around 6:30pm. The wind was blowing from the North from 15-20 knots and the seas were 3-6 feet and choppy at times. We are so happy to find a safe harbour for the night and drop anchor for the very first time. Slept like rocks... The next morning, we weighed anchor around 7:30am to set sail for Sheet Harbour, but the seas were just not cooperating with us and the waves were hitting us broadside, so we [View Full Entry]

Docked at the St Peters Lock wall
St Peter's NS Canal Lock (Gateway from the Bras D'Or Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean) We finally left Dundee in direction for the St-Peter’s canal, where we rafted to the lock walls for the night. It took us all of 4 hours to get there and the sail was smooth (we actually motored since there was very little wind). We walked around town for a while and stocked up on some much needed supplies (mostly beer, chips and chocolate). Came morning, we left at the first opening of the locks at 8:am and FINALLY set sail on our “official” departure from [View Full Entry]

First of all, we’d like to apologize for the great delay in updating our travelblog. I guess we’ve just been having so much fun that time has flown bye..... We last left you with our “Hurricane Bill” adventure, in which we fled Petit de Grat for shelter on the Bras D’Or lakes at Dundee Marina. It turns out that we stayed at Dundee for 2 full weeks as we were having problems with our fuel pump and had to wait for DHL to finally figure out the difference between their butt and their elbow. We had requested (and were billed for) [View Full Entry]

Hurricane Bill, It is now 3:15pm and Hurricane Bill has now been upon us since around 1pm. The forecast is for the brunt of the storm to be at its strongest around 4pm. So far all is fine; with the exception of one the other docks braking one of its mooring lines. With a collective group we were able to re secure it by tying it off to some of the shore line trees. Other than this we have been experiencing super heavy rains and winds no higher than 47 knots (recorded aboard a catamaran here). We are on the edge [View Full Entry]

WeBeSailing Rainbow at Dundee Marine

Friday August 21 2009 We departed Petit de Grat @ 7am this morning heading for shelter from Hurricane Bill. Hurricane Bill is at the moment a category 4, which is fast approaching Nova Scotia. The local forecast is for Bill to be a Cat 1 as it travels though our area on Sunday producing winds of 65 knots with gust in the higher 70 knot range!, that would translate to 125 to 150 plus km winds.. Needless to say it didn’t take long to make the discussion to head for better shelter inland, Luckily we have the Bra d’or Lakes which [View Full Entry]

All his predictions call for rain... Don't get us wrong,,, we Not complaining at all, as it has been really good for us!!. We [View Full Entry]

After a long and arduous period of hiatus, We are REALLY glad to say…..We’re back!!!!! We apologize to everyone for remaining so quiet during the while, as many of you know, we spent all that time lining up our ducks to come back bigger and stronger than we’ve ever been before. Annie and I are doing really well, and we are so proud of what we have accomplished in our quest of setting sail once again .. After two long summers of completing s/v WeBeSailing’s refit and working the very cold winters in Edmonton & Fort McMurray Alberta… we are now [View Full Entry]

Our flight wasn’t scheduled to depart until 12:35, but we didn’t want to take any chances in arriving late.
