We Crazy People only rested a few days before starting 16 days Around Annapurna trek. This trek is famous in Nepal for having the best views of the Himalayas, the most interesting variety of landscape. The first half of the trek was a slow and steady ascent and we hit snow in Manang, unusual for this time of year, and there had been avalanches before our arrival. The highlight was the ascent to the dizzy heights of the Thorang La pass at 5416m. Crossing the pass we had to start at 4am for the 1km ascent in the dark under the [View Full Entry]

Then it was off to the Everest Region for a 12 day trek from Jiri to Tengboche and back to Lukla for our flight. We hired a fabulous Nepali guy - Santosh - who was our guide, porter, friend and family for a month while we trekked. Not only did he take us along the mountain trails for over 500km but he also taught us the local lingo - a great Nepali teacher! If anyone is looking for a Nepali trekking guide in future...! Our first encounter with the Maoists was in the first couple of days when they tried to [View Full Entry]

We managed to find somewhere to stay and get on a bus next day for our first destination (Janakpur) in the humid Terai on the Indian border. Janakpur was a strange place at first. We didn't know whe [View Full Entry]

Our flight into Delhi arrived early morning and our first 'surprise' - the cattle lounging in the bazaar near Pahar Ganj. Even though I knew I would see them it still seemed strange. The first month of our trip to India we spent travelling across Northern India. We had a couple of easy days acclimatising in Delhi, checking out the Fort, Qutab Minar and Connaught Place. We then took a short train journey to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. While we were there Warren was hit my 'Delhi belly' and was confined to barracks. This was tough as the electricity [View Full Entry]
