19th 25th June Windjana Gorge to Mitchell PlateauLeft Derby on the sealed road then onto the Gibb River Road with its reputation for being rough and badly corrugated. We were pleasantly surprised as the was excellent as dirt roads go. It had been graded and we could travel comfortably at around 80kmhr. The road after the turnoff to Windjana Gorge was not quite so good with more corrugations

Although we werent certain of the conditions having heard mixed reports we decided to give it a go. The turnoff was just south of The Beagle Bay turnoff and after missing it the first time we turned back this time with success. This shortcut turned out to be excellent and saved us a great deal of

10th June to 14th June Dampier PeninsulaAt last the road is open up to Cape Leveque and beyond. The road is corrugated and sandy in parts but with the skill of the driver me we arrive safely onto the sealed section just before the turnoff to Beagle Bay. Here there is a church with 3 altars all inlaid with mother of pearl. Even the floor has some shells inlaid. Quite a pretty church.

Sunday 9th May Halls CreekDecided to drive down to Wolfe Creek Crater. Thought we could go later in the day so that we could get some nice light on the crater. First we went and had a look at a rock formation called the China Wall. In the end left for the crater at 2.30pm a little earlier than originally intended. The crater is about 130km down the Tanami road. We did decide that doing that
