The flight from Karachi to Tehran was 6 AM in the morning, with 11 hours of connection waiting in Doha by Qatar airway, a cheap flight by USD 150, so Madeeha and her mother took me to the airport at 3 AM, so basically I didn't sleep that night, so my plan was to sleep in Doha airport during my 11 hours of waiting time, but I couldn't because I met a Chinese guy going to Chile with the connection in Brazil, he hadn't the return ticket, so the Brazilian custom didn't allow him to board, later I knew the Brazilian custom is asking for the return ticket because a lot of people go and stay in Brazil, my lovely country! Anyway, the Chinese guy didn't get the connection flight to Brazil at first moment and ... read more

Arriving in Islamabad airport, finally I am here, after a difficult visa process, sending my passport back to Brazil, and a decision to take a flight from Urumqi because I wouldn't like to wait 15 days more to get the bus by Karaokorum highway, even I knowing I will lost a beautiful scene on the road. I got a host from Rawalpindi, near to Islamabad, his name is Suleman, so I called him when I was out of airport, he would come to pick me up, I hadn't a local number that time, there were a lot taxi drivers offering to take you to the place, so I refused the service saying I have a friend coming, and he offered me his phone to use, I thought that was kind, but in the end he asked ... read more

Now I am back to my journey, I went to Xinjiang, the province of China from extreme west, gateway to Pakistan. Xinjiang province has huge area, also a Muslim province, so people there are different from Han ethnic, they are Uyghur, and the most of them look like western people, even some of them has green eyes. This time I went there with Hao, a friend from last company where I was working in China, she got a 9 days vacation, we got a train from Shanghai to Lanzhou, then tried to get a train from Lanzhou to Turpan, but that was impossible, because of holiday so many Chinese were moving, there was no train ticket for next 5 days, so we had no choose, only by bus for a 22 hours of journey. Just to ... read more

Flight from Kuala Lumpur to Clark (Philippines), 6:45 AM, red-eye flight, by my favorite airline AirAsia, only USD 80. So we arrived in Kuala Lumpur almost midnight one day before the flight and stayed there until the flight time, arriving in Clark, I was expecting to arrive in Manila, but Clark is around 150km from north of Manila, then a bus to Manila, I couldn't understand why, but that bus was too expensive for a 2 hours trip in Philippines, PHP 450. Arriving in Manila, we went to a travel agency to buy air ticket, our plan was to take a plane to Caticlan, the airport city of Boracay, but the agent kindly suggested us to take a plane to Kalibo, that will be much cheaper, and just get a one and half hour bus to ... read more

My passport is back from Brazil with Pakistan visa, now just waiting for a better weather in Xinjiang, my plan is to restart my journey after March 15th, maybe 20th depending on the weather. So now I am going to Malaysia and Philippines for 10 days with my wife. Our goal was only Boracay of Philippines, but the air tickets was really cheap, so we decided to stop in Kuala Lumpur for couple days. Malaysia is a Islamic country, but with a strong religion and ethnic mix, there are a lot of Chinese and Indian, you can see Bhudism and Hinduism beside the Islamism there, because of that cultural mix, the Malaysian language skill is also very strong, for a example, the Malaysian guys, Chris and Weng, who I met in Laos, they are Malaysian Chinese, ... read more

A breaking time of my trip to recover my health from malaria, my plan was crossing Himalaya from Nepal to Tibet, but my health condition didn't allow me to do that route, the weather was getting colder in north hemisphere, so I came to south of China to be with family in Chinese new year, and waiting for a warmer weather to restart my journey, because I will go to Pakistan from Xinjiang, and the temperature in Xinjiang will be positive only in March. To get Pakistan visa was another big problem, I tried to apply in Nepal, but the Pakistan embassy staff said the visa will take more than month, maybe 1, 2 or 3 months. When I was in south of China, I called to Pakistan embassy in Hong Kong, they only give the ... read more

Crossing the border from Sunauli (India) to Bhairawa (Nepal), everything was fine, officer from Nepal was very friendly to make our visa on arrival, and no bribe. Our plan was to stay one night in Bhairawa, but we got a night bus to Kathmandu, and that wasn't sleep bus, the road was horrible, so we didn't sleep well, and we arrived in Kathmandu at 4 AM, we didn't print out the Kathmandu map, but there was a guy from Norway in the same bus, he had a guide book, so we went to a hotel together sharing the taxi, that guy from Norway is very different, he looks like army people, and carrying a locked metal box with him, that was a first time I saw a backpacker with metal box putting the important things inside. ... read more

Arriving in India by Kolkata, I met Ling, the twin brother of Chieh who lived with me in China for 3 years, traveled a lot with me, a great friend. The first impression of India is dirty and crowd as we expected. First of all, a place to stay, actually that wasn't hard to find, but that was hard to stay one more night, the most of them had already booked by someone for next day, so we needed to change the place almost every night. Next day we went to India museum, here in India is the same for southeast Asia, the foreigner always pay more, actually the museum was so so, but on the roof of museum had a kite festival, just for local people, and somehow we got there to enjoy the view ... read more

Before I start the Myanmar story, I will write something about Bangkok first, after Laos I stayed only 2 nights in Bangkok, just for transit, but there were some interesting things to describe. Actually my main goal in Bangkok was to fix my Swatch watch, that had too much rain in Vietnam, and completely stopped in Cambodia. Actually I found a Swatch maintenance center, but they said they can't fix my watch, because there is no way to open it, and I can keep it as collection if I want it... Well, I will keep it for a while. Bangkok was still flood in some places, really flood, and I met a interesting guy from Australia, named Jason, he have been travelling for 11 years, a lot of stories, he will go to Brazil by boat ... read more

Crossing a very simple boarder from Cambodia to Lao, actually you can do the Lao visa there, it seems cheaper than from Embassy, and you must pay a 2 USD "stamp fee" for both sides. The first city we arrived was Pakse, one of biggest cities from Lao, even that the city looks small and everything is slow down, that is a main characteristic from Laos, everything is slow down, Laos PDR means Laos Please Don't Rush. We didn't spend a lot of time in Pakse, just heading to Vientiane to meet JeongEun up, a girl from South Korea to travel with us. In Vientiane there are no such things to do, I just leaved my passport in Myanmar visa, then we went to Vang Vieng, a place for parties and ecotourism, very nice, just the ... read more
