In the morning we woke up around 8am and started packing the dogs were already excited and they did not know what was happening. All they knew was we are packing for something and it looks fun. We finally had everything packed and ready to go around 1130. We picked up the last few things at Wal-Mart some McDonalds breakfast. In all my traveling I have never had such a time with delays as this trip to mexico. To begin with my trip was very specific with dates and times and meeting others in the group. We were to fly from Washington DC to Chicago than Mexico City and finally to TGZ. We were than to catch the group collectivo to Ocotopec which is a 3 hour ride into the mountains. With the random wednesday off. I decided to travel my own home town. See some of the sights people travel miles to see. My destination was Great Fall National Park in Virgnia. It is a nice park with many bikeing, walking and horseback riding trails. I also wanted to exhaust my 8 month old puppy Duncan. He did some great climbing over rocks and keeping up. The backgroung is i had to make a little emergency trip to NJ (where I grew up) because my mom had back surgery and was not sounding so good. So any little trip is a trip.A small road trip is a fun thing. As always I remembered why I love Jersey so much. It is the only state in the U.S. where you can not pump your own gas. 11 days and counting till my fiance and I are off to mexico for two weeks. The plan is to do the chiapas medical volunteer thing of a week and than off to acuplco for a week of relaxation and fun snorkling and exploring. The prep work has started for the trip to Chiapas than Acapulco Mexico. It began with packing all the medicine we need to carry. We have some important things dental tools, antibiotics ,fluoride varnish, worm medicine, iron pills vitamins and cold medicine To cut down on weight I remove any unnecessary packaging. It was a tedious process but ended with a box fight. Think of it like having a ball pit in your living room. The pups even got in on it too. 13 days and counting.
