| 11th June 2007 Marinkie | - From: Six Months into 2007: An Update Shelly, wonderful to read about where you are now. The comfortable seductively lit guest bed sure looks inviting. We will try to come by in not too distant future. Very happy for you and Jeff, for the new found places you've found for yourselves in life. It sounds as if you two are really happy with what you do now, more at peace and all that! Hugs and kisses to you both! |
| 11th June 2007 dl004d | I'm jealous - From: Final Trip Stats Many people dream of doing a once-in-a-lifetime-trip like yours but never actually get around to it. I'm jealous! But in defense of 747 jets, they can hold over 500 people! |
| 4th January 2007 Molly McCarthy | welcome home - From: Home Again 10 Months Later Shelly - Its been just a treat following your travels these last months. Welcome home! |
| 15th December 2006 Chuck Henry | Home, safe - From: Home Again 10 Months Later Glad to have you home safely, with the adventure of a lifetime tucked in, and all that remains is (and this is just my own idea, of course) to write a book about it. Bet you hadn't thought of that. We have enjoyed vicariously all that you have done, seen, sung and played, and imagine you have plans for more Great Adventures. Congratulations and welcome home. Chuck |
| 14th December 2006 Dad and Mom | Welcome Home - From: Home Again 10 Months Later Well, you made it in grand fashion. We, of course, are glad to have you back home but we know the trip was worth every minute of the adventure. We think there must be a book with all the beautiful photos and write up's. Time will tell about that. As you reflect back on the journey and all the people you met along the way, it will be hard to say what was the most inspiring or meaningful. In time, it will all melt together as one of the most important things you did in your life. We look forward to hearing more and more of the tales as time permits and to reflect on the personal growth you have had along the way. Love, Dad and Mom |
| 12th December 2006 Michael Burns | Welcome Home - From: Home Again 10 Months Later Happy that you all made it and now have eclipsed all records for seemingly trouble free driving in a VW van. You may also have set the record formost freinds visited in places unlikely. I hope you learned how much there is to see, how many there are to meet, and why a trip may be over, but a journey never ends. Stay well. I hope to see you out there again. |
| 12th December 2006 Josh, Sarah & the girls | welcome home! - From: Home Again 10 Months Later Welcome home from your drive-about! Looking forward to some in-person supplemental story-telling. Glad to hear you made it back safe and sound, though not without some heartache along the way. (Sorry to hear about that.) Congratulations! |
| 16th November 2006 Audrey | - From: Into Thin Air in the Rockies Y'all are making me homesick for the Colorado Rockies. Luke and I are taking Evelyn that way for the holidays at the end of December to meet all of her grandparents and her great-grandma, plus paying tribute to her great-grandpa's memory. I am sooo looking forward to having you meet Evelyn and to play some olde time tunes with you guys again. Hope you are bringing back some "new" ones for us to learn. :-) |
| 14th November 2006 Lorraine Price | - From: Into Thin Air in the Rockies Shelly and Jeff, after your visit here a few months ago, I too have enjoyed reading your various escapades and adventures. I have similar thoughts as you, regarding the political situation in this country. I'm crossing my fingers things are going to get better! You must be getting close to home now. All the best during the remainder of your travels. P.S. David is happy at Cal Poly, SLO, as is Drew at NU, and Leah is merrily marching and riding. All the best. |
| 13th November 2006 Holly | Just checking in - From: Winter Migration Hi Shelly & Jeff! Katie & I were just marveling that we can't believe we've been reading this blog almost a YEAR! Thanks for providing all the great commentary & photos (and for including Sea Magazine in one of them!). Know you're on the hunt for some employment opportunities to keep you occupied post-trip; of course, we'd love to see you pick up where you left off in Sea! We've missed your contributions. Good luck in the final month(s) of your journey--you've inspired many! |
| 26th October 2006 Jennie Steen | Nice to meet you. - From: Westward Ho: The Setting Sun in Our Eyes Hi. Just looked at the pictures of family, farm, and the crane leaving the Necedah Refuge. The pictures are great. Also the article. It was nice to meet you and hope to see you again. Sorry you didn't get the job Jeff, but I'am sure there is a better one waiting for you. Take Care. Jennie |
| 25th October 2006 Dad and Mom | Wow!!!!!!!!!!! - From: Winter Migration The travel adventures are getting better and better. How will you ever settle down to a "normal" life after this? As usual this was one heck of a nice blog. We are looking forward to seeing you soon but will miss the naratives of your travel across the country and great photos of people and places where you have been. All our love, Dad and Mom |
| 24th October 2006 Harriet & Larry Stay | "On your way home!!" - From: Winter Migration Good Morning -- Rain here. Of course. In the thirties last night. Just finished the exciting chore of painting our garage... in time. Larry bought a single engine plane while you've been touring. We flew it to Madison, WI, the end of Sept. and stayed for a week -- the annual mystery convention. What an exciting trip that was. Took our dog Snoop with us. Not sure she was as excited about flying. It is VERY noisy up there. I must say that we are totally jealous of your trip. We've crossed the country back and forth, car, train, plane, but what you have done is so much more meaningful. I feel you've left a lot of goodwill everywhere you stayed. Three cheers for you two. I feel guilty about the nights you had to stay in the Wal Mart lots. There is a saying with all the Postmasters in the US - you will always have a place to stay. I should have said something a year ago. I thought you had everything pretty much set. I recall when we found Snoop (dog) ten years ago and took her on a trip to Eastern Washington. Left our windows down for air while we entered a small cafe/store/post office for a cool drink. Snoop jumped out and got lost. It was the Postmaster who called me. The Forest Service ranger found her. The Postmaster kept her over night -- and fed her steak. See, they take in strays all the time! Don't know if you've seen the news, but KCP bought property on Lawrence St. and plans to build a theatre. We hired an artistic director, had just hired a development director (part-time) and she quit before she hardly got started. We are looking for someone to fill that position. Eventually we plan for it to become a full-time job, with pay, of course. Don't know if this is something you may be looking for, Shelly, but thought I'd toss it out there. Good luck in the snow -- that must be arriving where you are. Hugs, Harriet , Larry, & Snoop |
| 24th October 2006 Sarah Peters | Thank You for Sharing - From: Westward Ho: The Setting Sun in Our Eyes Hi Guys! We are lookig forward to your return...(when is the big day yo u roll in?) And wanted to say big thanks for sharing the adventure....My sister and her family in Cape Cod were delighted with your visit! Your website and especially meeting the wonderful two of you has opened the world wide open for my nephew and nieces. Miss you... Sarah, Josh, Agnes, Caitlin, and Lilliana Peters |
| 7th October 2006 Dad and Mom | Looking Sooooooo Good - From: Westward Ho: The Setting Sun in Our Eyes Just finished reading and looking at the photos of the latest blog. Wow, what a nice write up and photographs. We relive some of our travels every time we see your travelog. What a great experience you are having. Looking forward to seeing you both soon. Love, Dad and Mom |
| 24th September 2006 Chris, Ellen & Emma | Glad to have met you two! - From: September in New England We so enjoyed having you stay with us for those two days, and are very greatful to have met you both. Emma still asks about you now and then. Maybe our paths will cross again someday. We will continue to follow your journey with the good feelings that we were a small part of it. Safe travels! |
| 19th September 2006 Sammy & Sugar | Delightful Travel Log! - From: September in New England What a delightful travel log! We are Sammy & Sugar, two beautiful dogs that our dear friend Roy (Essex lakefront house) found a home for when he lived in California. We miss him and we are glad that you enjoyed your visit with him! Tell Darwin "hi" for us! |
| 18th September 2006 Jim Tolpin | Ye Olde Stomping Grounds! - From: September in New England Oh boy, now you are stirring the old pot of New England memories...having gone to school in Amherst; lived in Rockport right near those rafts of rockweed; hung around Woodenboat Magazine in its earliest days; visits to family farm in Vermont; visits to my daughter (Coyote) over her years at Smith; commune life in the woods of New Hampshire starting in the late 60's....and on and on down memory lane your blog has taken me! |
| 18th September 2006 Nancy Stelow | Lovin' It! - From: September in New England I am traveling with you! Enjoying every word and picture! They are fantastic. Look forward to 'fall color' photos from Mass to NY! Take care and we miss you. Nancy |
| 1st September 2006 Dad and Mom | WOW - From: Lobster Special! Quite a story. I had a feel for the Lobsterman fishing with your great pictures and write up. Looks like a rough life but enjoyable also. As always the photos were great and told the story. Keep it up. We were happy to hear from you tonight. Switched the cable to the new computer and the pictures popped right up. Love it. Take care. Love, Dad and Mom |
| 31st August 2006 Val | See you one day at your Skinetic Festival! - From: Lobster Special! Hi Jeff and Shelly! That's so fabulous that you could arrange such a day on a lobsterday, we couldn't have wished you better for a journey in the Maritimes! We're back from Nova Scotia, we really enjoyed our trip but it was definitely too short. You can have a look at it on our new blog at http://valetmartin.blogs-de-voyage.fr, if you ever have time. It's in French, but pictures are an universal language! We are very pleased that you enjoyed so much your trip in Eastern Quebec and in the Maritimes... Gaspesie, New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia are some of the places we really cherish. We hope to meet you again someday at Quebec's Carnival or in your hometown at the Skinetic Festival! ;) We really enjoyed your stay with us in Charny, as well as Val's family enjoyed it in La Pocatiere (enough for Val's mom to think about taking English classes to receive more wonderful hosts like you and be able to have a good conversation with them!), you made our weekend! Val and Martin |
| 31st August 2006 Randy Kline | Canada, aye! - From: Lobster Special! Greetings - Great pics and narrative . . . Jen the kids and I are in Vernon, BC soaking up some canadian sanity. All goes well on the home front (including your home). I've been playing guitar all the time, I've now done six open mikes and have written a number of songs and rap/spoken word pieces - very political as you can imagine (George Bush lies/the rich man decides/the Iraqi children die/while the poor people cry). My bike shop, Sister Cycles, opens in November and I'm no longer working in Poulsbo (which is a good thing). In the immortal words of David Bowie, ch-ch-ch-changes but all positive - safe travels. Cheers Randy, Jen, Charlotte and Olivia |
| 31st August 2006 Andree | We almost crossed paths - From: Boom! We hit the Atlantic coast Hi there! Finally have some time to peruse your blog! I had two weeks in the Hollywood Hills with my aunt, then flew to Charlotte myself for a meeting! They had a tour the whitewater park and hosted us to a dinner at the Speedway! I had an extra twenty-four hours so drove to Asheville through the mountains and had a great time - visited the larged house in the nation...had some BBQ, etc....great stories and photos - whoo hoo! |
| 31st August 2006 Alison Howe | All the way from downunder - From: Lobster Special! I have been following your journey for sometime(being attracted by the waltzing matilda title). No I am not some crazed Aussie stalker, just a mum whose first son is at present travelling the world for 4 months. He set up a blog and had such good intentions to keep the old folks at home up to date. Unfortunately studying Acturarial Studies at University in Canberra for 5 years did little to increase his communications skills, or his ability to give us a little glimpse of the places he visits, therefore I find myself heading straight to Waltzing Matilda. I do hope that you are not offended that a stranger on the other side of the world is eagerly logging on to your site and very much enjoying the detailed journal of your amazing adventure. |
| 27th August 2006 Dad and Mom | Second viewing - From: The "Unavoidables" En Route to Our Eastern Apex We took the time to look at the blog again on our new computer screen. We couldn't see all the photos on our old computer as it didn't want to load all of them but they poped right up on the new one. The pictures are fantastic right down to the final one of Matilda going to sleep for the night. Great job! Thanks for taking the time to put it all together. We send our love and wishes for a second half of the trip as great as the first. Love, Dad and Mom |
| 26th August 2006 Dad and Mom | Great write up and pictures. - From: The "Unavoidables" En Route to Our Eastern Apex Well, as usual, we really enjoyed the description and pictures. What an experience you two are having. We thought back to our visit to PEI and the visit to Anne of Green Gables birthplace. That was a neat time. Glad you picked that for your graduation trip. Keep the wheels rolling and making friends and music as you go. Love, Dad and Mom |
| 6th August 2006 Danielle | Why we thought you were the perfect guests - From: Falling in Love with Canadians Dear Shelly and Jeff - well, here it is. Why you were the perfect guests: Apart from being friendly and casual, you were totally self-sufficient, you knew when we needed our space and never imposed yourselves. I had mentioned that we were going to be very busy but knew you would be able to take care of yourselves, at the same time, being available for a few meals so we could get to know you. I noticed that you had an uncanny way, both of you, of observing exactly how we did things (in the kitchen for example) and of doing the same, adapting yourselves to our ways, never imposing your ways. (I didn't rinse the dishes; you didn't rinse the dishes). you were considerate, clean, generous with your preparation of two delicious meals for us. You did not ask me for even an onion but went to the market and purchased all you needed and you never bothered me about anything when in the kitchen; you understood that when I said you could open any cupboard door, I meant it. You graciously enjoyed our meals when you joined us. You didn't mind being soaked to the bone on our way to Alec and Vickie's after the movie. I loved shopping with you at my favorite store and seeing you find such gorgeous apparel. You were my first globalfreeloaders and you gave a definite new definition to the word "freeloader". I have even more faith in global networks now and really feel we CAN make the world a better one by spreading friendship. It was a delight to meet you. With much love. Danie ps btw it should be : Tombes en amour... (with an accent aigu on the e but I don't know how to do it :)) |
| 27th July 2006 Jean Walat | work shoes - From: Falling in Love with Canadians I at first thought the shoe photo was what Jeff selected for his job hunting next year...l. sounds like you guys are having a great time. |
| 27th July 2006 Carol Sword | Appalachian Folklife Center - From: Falling in Love with Canadians Shelly, Just wanted to share with you a sweet place in Pipestem, West Virginia if you are in that neck of the woods. It's called the Appalachian Folklife Center. The website for in-ticketing makes it look like a big venue, but it definitely is not. It's an incredibly sweet community activist site started by Hedy West's dad, Don West. My friend Ron and I got dropped off there once in a pouring rain while hitch hiking. Don took us (and a van full of other vagabonds) with him to the ML King March on WA in the 1980's. We visited Mennonite friends of his on the way and had similar experiences to yours with the Amish. Ron and I went back in subsequent years, and I still send them money when they write to me every few years. They have a deep appreciation for homemade music and common people pulling together. You can stay there for free, but you will have to do chores. The scenery is breathtaking. There's a muddy pond there Ron and I swam in with the tadpoles, frogs, snakes, and catfish. That pond is a place I go to in my mind where I see perfect happiness. Love from Carol |
| 21st July 2006 Sarah Boggan | Enjoying the ride - From: Fireworks on the Fourth in that OTHER Washington Hi Shelly and Jeff! Hope you guys are staying cool in the summer heat. Enjoying the blogs as always! Take care. |
| 18th July 2006 Kathy Bynum | That "other" Washington - From: Fireworks on the Fourth in that OTHER Washington Enjoyed the pictures, especially of Angela and David, and your comments. Glad you got to be together. How fun! |
| 17th July 2006 Carol Sword | roadrunners - From: Fireworks on the Fourth in that OTHER Washington Shelly and Jeff, just want you to know that I have been travelling with you vicariously by enjoying your blog. It's inspiring that you are spreading your good cheer and trust in friendship across our troubled country. THAT's patriotism !! Love from Carol |
| 11th July 2006 Juliet | Ola from Porto, Portugal!! - From: Boom! We hit the Atlantic coast I'm still keeping up with your adventures from Portugal. I have been in Porto for a little over a week, taking an intensive language and culture course through Berkeley. It has been an incredible experience thus far and I'm considering doing a travel blog of my own once I get a digital camera. However, I'm afraid that I will come up short in comparison to your amazing stories and well-organized entries! |
| 6th July 2006 Mom and Dad | Reading your blog from the AT - From: Boom! We hit the Atlantic coast We are in Waynesboro, VA, at the home of a trail angel. We have showered, did laundry, ate a meal, and now have time on a computer that is easy and quick. Finally got to read the blog. Loved it! Continue to enjoy your trip. Love to you 'all. |
| 1st July 2006 Sarah Boggan | Yay for Tybee Island - From: Boom! We hit the Atlantic coast Hey Guys, Just thought I would check in and say hello. Tom and I have been enjoying the updates. I was so excited to see you made it to Tybee Island. My parents had a beach house there growing up — a place that definitely brings back childhood memories! Enjoy. |
| 27th June 2006 Susan Briggs | greetings from Guemes! - From: Boom! We hit the Atlantic coast I didn't want your narrative and photo journal to end...I was so lost in sharing your adventures! Too much together time doesn't show in your healthy smiles, smirks and posturing with the locals. Connecting with people is so natural for your two I think your future will be rich!!! Looking forward to your next installment. Susan PS I loved the wine you gave me, as did my 3 neighbors who helped me drink it on my 63rd birthday earlier in the month. All is well. |
| 22nd June 2006 Stephanie | - From: Sailing, Section-Hikers & Singing in the Smokies In Shelly's defense, there were more kids than balloons because a few siblings of the second graders were at the picnic. Mrs. Pettit's class loved the balloons and have sent their thanks for all of Shelly's hard work. |
| 22nd June 2006 gitte | solstice greeting - From: Helping Out on the Hurricane-Hammered Gulf Coast 21 of june in the tropic of cancer, midday with hardly a shadow, but lovely temps and cool breeze. And there you are working in Bay St Louis... We just got Email and it is the first time I have a chance to tune in. It's like being in touch again, I love it and send you hugs and wishes for continued wonderful adventures. gitte |
| 10th June 2006 Jamie | Love the pictures - From: Sailing, Section-Hikers & Singing in the Smokies Shelly - I really enjoyed reading your recent entry. The pictures are great! I can't wait to see all of them. Stay cool!!! Jamie |
| 10th June 2006 Florine | Great work continues!!! - From: Sailing, Section-Hikers & Singing in the Smokies Shelly & Jeff, We so enjoyed your visit & are happy that you were able to get the tech problems worked out. Your story gets better all the time & the pics are fabulous. I am already anticipating the next edition! Enjoy, take care & continue!. |
| 10th June 2006 Professor Numskull | Sheer Envy! - From: Sailing, Section-Hikers & Singing in the Smokies I recognize most of the places you’ve been, but, sadly none of the folks you’re visiting. I so look forward to the next batch of pictures even though they don’t mean anything to me, because you make me want to see my family. I’m thinking of taking a road trip myself. Happy Trails, Professor Numskull |
| 19th May 2006 Nik Worden | Dog runs - From: Matilda Gives Us a Start Your photo of the "double-pen" house reminded me that the dog run was a feature well-known to my Tennessee relatives in the 40's. They called it a "dog-trot" and incorporated it into even new houses. It could serve as a screened porch (you've noticed the insects?) or an outdoor workspace, or sometimes even as a covered entry to the house. Not a bad idea for a Northwest house either, for different reasons. Bainbridge musician/architect Ron Konzak built a house for himself in the 70's in which the covered outdoor space was equal to the enclosed space. Great for kid's play on rainy days, splitting firewood, weekend projects - even a place to go when the lawn party got rained out. |
| 5th May 2006 anonymous | - From: Farewell to the Pacific Finally had time to look through the blog and what laugh I am getting! You two have driven my favorite route through CA and even my home town, SLO Town. But where is Palm Springs? More wine tasting for Jeff, I see he enjoys it! If you want to see my latest go to viewit.com/HongKong/ Take care out there! Andree |
| 4th May 2006 Susan Briggs | Starting up... - From: Matilda Gives Us a Start Dear Shelly and Jeff, Your journal and photos continue to lure me away from Guemes and into past memories of cross country trips. Your beloved little Honda is fine but sometimes needs a jump-start to start its drive around island. Her starter is fine but the battery is losing umph....she sends her energy to Matilda in the SE. Susan |
| 4th May 2006 Pete Helsell | Starter Blues - From: Matilda Gives Us a Start Jeff and Shelly, I was thinking I can't wait to hear your new song about your "Starter Blues" - reminds me of listening to Daubie sing his many verses of the "Officer Elmore Blues". I expect that you might add a few more verses (or let others create new ones as Daubie does) along the way. Best of luck- looking forward to meeting Julie when you get home to Port Townsend! Pete |
| 22nd April 2006 Josh & Stacey Root | Hooray for you! - From: Four States, Three Seasons, Two Weeks, One Holiday Just wanted to let you know that if you google "jeff shelly vanagon", your blog is the #1 link! Hooray for you guys. Hooray so much so that Stacey and I are looking for a Vanagon of our own. Well, not so much "because" of you, but it sure reminded me to get off my butt and get back onto my plan of looking for one. Hope you both are well. Travel safe and enjoy the ride. We miss you for sure. |
| 19th April 2006 Betty & Von Kuehn | Loving the stories - From: Four States, Three Seasons, Two Weeks, One Holiday Shelly, your mom and dad hooked us into your stories. We've visited Mesa Verde and the other sites, so love to read about them. Jeff, I like all your explorations of land use ideas. |
| 19th April 2006 Chuck Henry | Travertine bride - From: Four States, Three Seasons, Two Weeks, One Holiday Enjoyed reference to the world's largest travertine bride (4-3-06), Waltzing Matilda. Was there a large travertine groom to go with her? Cheers. Chuck |
| 18th April 2006 Bill and Ann | Nice Update - From: Four States, Three Seasons, Two Weeks, One Holiday As usual, we loved the newsy update and the great pictures. There must be a travel across America in Matilda book in the making here. The Indian ruins were especially interesting for us as we have yet to explore these areas. The people you are meeting along the way have to be one of the highlights of the journey. What fun. Oh, remember Bruce and Helen Glick as you enter Ohio and their association with the Mennoite Central Committee. They have been with them for most of their lives. Keep up the great fun. Love, Dad and Mom. |
| 6th April 2006 Sarah | Canyon de Shelly - From: Southwest Answers: It Isn’t Canyon de “Shelly”! Great to see you guys and hear about your progress! Now it will always be Canyon de "Shelly" to me! |
| 5th April 2006 Testerman parents | Sheff and Jelly's saga is inspiring! - From: Southwest Answers: It Isn’t Canyon de “Shelly”! We continue to enjoy your wonderful photos. How special to see Sue and Dan. They look just the same as they did 34 years ago at their wedding, 2 months before ours. What great southwest vistas, bridges, and formations. Matilda's new brim seems perfect. Nice to be sunny and warm enough to need it. Bill has always wanted to see the Indian ruins and now he is seeing them through your lens. Anxiously awaiting more.......love, Mom and Dad |
| 29th March 2006 Sarah Boggan | Thawed yet? - From: When it rains it pours...in the San Francisco Bay area Hi Shelley and Jeff, We truly enjoyed seeing you guys this weekend. It was great to catch up and hear of your adventures. Hope Matilda is behaving and you guys are enjoying your trek east. We'll stay tuned ... Hugs! |
| 24th March 2006 Juliet | to the traveling duo - From: Farewell to the Pacific Shelly and Jeff, Its great to "follow" you around on this blog. I'm living vicariously through you as I try to wrap up my dissertation draft (eeek!!). After I turn in my draft I'm actually going on a mini-walz myself up to Oregon to stay at a yurt on the beach with my sweetie. By the way, could you email me or post that pic you took of the two of us while you were here? Lots of love and safe travels!! |
| 23rd March 2006 Bill and Ann Testerman | Waltzing East - From: Farewell to the Pacific So you are finally heading east! What a neat trip you have been having, with all the people you have met and re-met. As usual, the photos are picture perfect. Very entertaining. Hope your camera gets back to you all healthy and ready to go for many more miles. We look forward to the next blog. In the meantime, talk to you soon. Love, M&D |
| 22nd March 2006 Sarah Boggan | Wow! - From: Astoria to Arcata on Hwy 101 Great photos! I am loving them as much as your stories! |
| 19th March 2006 Kathy Bynum | Rain and Fog in S.F. - From: When it rains it pours...in the San Francisco Bay area We lived up in the Berkeley hills for 4 1/2 years & we loved watching the fog roll in very often. It would just kind of swallow us up as it moved in over the bay and slowly obliterated all views of the SF Bay with Alcatraz, the GG Bridge, SF, Bay Bridge, etc. We had a birds eye view of the whole bay area from all our windows in our lovely two-story house up on Euclid Avenue. Do you remember Mark Twain's statement that goes something like this, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a 'summer' in San Francisco."? :-) Enjoying your photos. |
| 13th March 2006 Mom & Dad Testerman | Reliving rainy California memories - From: When it rains it pours...in the San Francisco Bay area Your episodes remind us of our rainy bike ride through many of the same places. We think you are taking as much time in Matilda, as we did on our bicycles! Sightseeing and visiting friends and "recommended strangers" must be the highlights of your travels. We love to not only read the stories, but see the photos. Your camera, your eyes, and your trigger finger are creating some spectacular scenes for all of us. Keep up the good work. Love, Mom and Dad |
| 12th March 2006 Doug B | California's Blue Ox - From: Astoria to Arcata on Hwy 101 I found the picture of Matilda near Paul Bunyan's Blue Ox very interesting as I was not really fully aware of how far that legend spread from "these parts." Before you leave Minnesota you will have opportunities to take similar pictures along side the Blue Ox in Brainerd and by the one in Bemidji. |
| 12th March 2006 R. STEBNER | - From: When it rains it pours...in the San Francisco Bay area GREAT PICS. ENJOYING YOUR DIALOGUE. THE WINERY STOPS ARE ALWAYS FUN, AS WELL AS TASTY. KEEP ROCKING. |
| 11th March 2006 Donna | Such vicarious fun! - From: When it rains it pours...in the San Francisco Bay area I am really enjoying your travels, descriptions, and, most especially, beautiful photography! Thanks for sharing so much of the trip with all of us. |
| 20th February 2006 Nancy Stelow | Hi guys! - From: We've Crossed the Columbia -- With Short Hair! Jeff....you look so relax! Yahoo! Very fun keeping up with the trip! Shelley I LOVE the hair and your donation! Travel Safe! |

| 2nd February 2006 Polly & Tom in Ohio | First Entry - From: Lessons Learned from Shake-Down Cruise Thanks, Shelly and Jeff, for allowing us to live vicarously through your adventure. We'd been to some of the same places that you visited in this first "trip", but it's so much more romantic to read of your adventure. We're looking forward to more...Happy Trails. Ohio Love, PP and hubby |
| 2nd February 2006 Dad and Mom | Way to Go - From: Lessons Learned from Shake-Down Cruise Loved the pictures. You are going to have a lot of fun with the new camera. We are needless to say excited for you and hope that the rest of the trip is without problems with Matilda. Love, Dad and Mom |
