I am happy that you have to ability to overcome your fears and do what you want to do. I would never do that as I would never want to do it, but I am happy for you and your courage. I just realized that it is Christmas day there, so Merry Christmas! I wish you were here. xoxoxox Love you loads and loads.

From back in Canada, eh! - From: Franz Josef
Wow, that is so freakin awesome! Totally beats sitting in my living room studying, watching the leaves change on the hills out my window... Maybe I'll have to win the lottery and come see you in the summer, wherever you are.

my hero - From: The "10 year" plan
Wow, you are my hero. You've certainly adjusted to the travelling lifestyle!! At least this way I might actually get a chance to visit you on one of your rambles, though!! So - enjoy Oz, it's freakin amazing!! Tasmania's gorgeous, the Whitsundays are spectacular, the Great Barrier Reef is totally sweet, the country around Darwin is breathtaking, and the Blue Mountains at sunset are sooo pretty. Hint - you might not want to do Ayer's rock in the summertime, not just because of the heat, but the flies are awful. Oh, and there's not too much special about an opal mine. I'm sooo jealous! Oh, if you go to Tassie - hike up Cradle Mountain, and do the walk up to Wineglass Bay. The fairy penguins might be worthwhile to check out too. k, as far as Asia goes, I would soooo love to do that! Maybe I'll drop by and see you. Probably not cuz the school thing and the trips to Ireland have been doing a great job of breaking my bank account, but I can always dream! Africa - my sister volunteered in an orphanage in Malawi for a month this summer. She flew into South Africa and got another flight out from there. She might know some info. on travelling that continent; let me know if you want me to ask her for you. Europe - is expensive, at least in a lot of places. But I'm sure it would be beautiful, I haven't seen much (because of the expensive thing). But I could definately tell you some awesome spots to check out in Ireland, some a bit off the beaten path. There's something very special about Ireland, some undefinable quality... it's amazing. South America - don't go alone!!! I've heard some bad stories about girls travelling alone, it's dangerous there. But if you're going, let me know, I'll come!! I also know a girl who did the cruise ship thing for a year - she loved it! Girl, I wish I was you. And I wish you had longer in New Zealand - I really wanted to go visit you and see some more of it. But, c'est la vie I guess. Sin e an chaoi. (that's just the way it is) Keep me updated!!

it's all good... - From: Auckland and a mild kiwi rant.
Just to make you feel better, when I spent my super-packed couple of weeks in NZ it was summer and I remember wishing I'd gone in spring or fall so that the grass was greener and prettier, or even winter so that the mountains were snowier. And yet I saw a lot of really great things and experienced plusses to being there when I was, too. The point is, I think everyone wishes that some part of their trip was different because whether we have 2 weeks or a full year, it's never enough to see and do exactly what we'd like. That's the downside of travelling I guess... haha, leave it to a Canadian to be able to complain about everything!! Enjoy turning kiwi... just don't turn too far and forget to come back North! Later.

Turning Kiwi - From: Auckland and a mild kiwi rant.
It is so awsome to turn kiwi, rather that than american. I picked all the slang too when I was there and it took me years to lose it. Even now I will I will say 'Yur all right mate' and get a funny look. I love having that unique slang it makes everything more interesting.

yaaaaay!! I'm happy for you, girl! Good luck with the new work / location. I'm actually about to start a trip myself; just as you settle down, I set out! I'm just going across Canada, though. No crazy exotic location like NZ :( . But oh well, driving from Sask. to Nova Scotia will be a blast too. Hope you're still having the time of your life! Later!

Best of Luck Finding Work In Auckland - From: Hello Monday
Speaking from experience might I suggest you look into finding work through recruiters and temp agencies. I struggled finding work when I arrived but within a week of meeting with a number of recruiters I had a job. Good luck. And by the way enjoy the summer sun as the Pacific Northwest gets blanketed with snow. Cheers!

while you're in auckland... - From: Auckland as a temporary home.
hey there.. was just reading thru new zealand blogs nostalgically. i spent 7 months living in the most beautiful country! i lived most of my time on waiheke island which is just a 30 minute ferry ride from auckland. i highly recommend going for a visit if you've not already. it's really gorgeous especially in the summertime. spacious beaches, the island spirit, great people. be sure to go all the way to onetangi beach and check out the cat's tango restaurant. spent many months "working" there on the beach! take care and enjoy!

Thanks for Writing - From: First post from NZ!
I am glad you wrote, as I was beginning to get concerned about you. I was pretty sure you were having the time of your life, and I hadn't lost any sleep yet worrying about you. I am glad that the people there have been good to you, and that you are enjoying your journey. It sounds like you have been heading out full speed ahead, to fill up your time with lots of adventures. Good for you! I am so proud of you, you know! Just excercise caution in all that you do, and you should be fine. Your inner strength will help guide you when you need it. I love you so much. Where's the pictures? Colin says "Hi Sweetie" Love you lots! Mom xoxoxo

sooo jealous! - From: First post from NZ!
I am so jealous! I love hearing about everything and missing the things I saw (Cape Reinga!) and wishing I went other places! Keep writing! I also thought of a couple more hot spots that you should hit if you can. If you're in Wellington, the national museum there, Te Papa, is amazing, and it's free! (well, donations) You could easily spend a couple days exploring it and the displays and interactive stuff is all super awesome! Also, if they've still got it running, the Hobbiton tour in Mata Mata is fun, too. I really enjoyed it. Wish I was there! Wish I could come visit you! You rock!

So happy for you!! - From: Only four days left!
I'm so glad you're going to New Zealand!! I'm going to live vicariously through your blog for the next year! You're going to have so much fun. Only tips I can give: you really don't need as much clothing as you thought you did (or I didn't... I packed too many shirts), you'll probably have to buy an extra bag to bring home all of your souvenirs at the end, money slips through your fingers like water, but working in a foreign country is an adventure so it's not so bad, you'll meet the most awesome people ever, and driving on the other side is especially scary in New Zealand because of the super narrow windy roads with speed limits waaaaay higher than you could ever safely reach (100 on a highways is normal... but not when it's all jackknife turns through the hills/mountains). And go swimming with the dusky dolphins. It's pricey, but sooo worth it. And make sure it's that kind of dolphins because they're the ones that swim in huge groups of 100 or more, so you'll get much more out of it than if it was a smaller pod type. Oh, and bungy jumping isn't totally necessary. It's kind of the thing to do in New Zealand, but it's scary as hell. But an experience. Anyways, that's all I have to tell you. Go make some awesome memories!!! Wish I was there!
