Transfer Holiday

It has been a slow time at the hotel so it was a good time to take off for a while. It also happened that I decided to apply for a new position in the hotel. So I've transfered from Housekeeping to FB Food and Beverage from Room Attendant to FB Attendant. I now polish silverware and stock the buffet while making sure that hungry people are kept happy. On Thursday May 8th at 300 p.m. I hopped

One week in the South of the South Island

On Friday January 18th we started our trip. We didn't get out of Queenstown until around 11am and it wound up making for quite a long day as we didn't arrive in Dunedin until about 9pm. About an hour out of Queenstown we stopped at a well known fresh fruit stand just outside Cromwell. We bought some fruits and some tasty ice cream. Jordana got one of their choose your own fruit ice creams and I go

Kawarau Bridge Bungy Jump

Yesterday I had the day off and no plans so I made one. I decided to finally do a bungy jump. I chose the Kawarau Bridge because it is the first commercial bungy jump in the world. My other option was the Nevis which is much higher.I was very calm even when he was tying me up. He then said I was up so I scooted out to the edge of the plank. That was the point when the fear started to kick in b

Moke Lake Camping Trip

November 6th was the day Jordana and I spent the whole day at Moke Lake. We arrived on the 5th around 730 or 8pm. We then tried to set up the tent near a place that had already been used for fires and had firewood. It was in the open and it was very windy so we decided to move to a more sheltered area. We set the tent up amongst some bush ate a samosa talked and fell asleep.Around 930 am we go

I just noticed again I haven't written anything. There really isn't much to say but I'm trying to go camping in a week and a half at Moke Lake. I should have something to write about then.My visa is in the hands of the government.

Franz Josef

I can't believe I haven't posted in three weeks...I moved in with the woman I mentioned. It seems to be going quite well although I've only been there less than two weeks so I won't count my chickens just yet. I really like the atmosphere of the neighbourhood. I'm living in a cabin in a Holiday Park right against the mountain. I'm surrounded by nature and it smells so good.It turns out I did hav

Out for the smell of snow

I'm moving on the 3rd and on the 5th I'm going to Franz Josef for a couple days. Exciting I'm finally going to do a little trip like I planned to when I came to Queenstown. I need to try to do that a bit more. I want to sort other things out before I start doing many more though. I might be moving into a place with a woman who goes to Invercargill every other weekend. She said that I could probabl

Everything is possible.

So the pretty penny I was talking about in my last entry is not as dear as I was led to believe. There are things that I don't need to do so it cuts my price into a fourth of the original thought. It's 400 for medical expenses which I don't need to deal with then it's 200 for a visa and 200 for a permit. I only need a visa if I plan to leave the country and come back during the time of my perm

Always wanting what we can't have...

So I figured I had decided I wanted to stay in Queenstown for the summer. Then it hit me quite strongly just how much I want to stay here when a couple days ago when it was brought to my attention that maybe I won't be able to. Well not really that I won't be able to it just might cost me a pretty penny to do it. Now it's running through my head... Is it worth it How much... how badly do I want

Difficulty deciding...

I have to decide whether I'm going to stay in Queenstown for the summer or if I'm going to move on to Oz before my visa runs out. My visa runs out in two months and eight days. I told myself I had to decide by the two month mark. That doesn't leave me much time and I really don't think I can decide by then.I'm actually finally feeling the pull to go to Oz and it's getting really strong. I really r

The "10 year" plan

Well the cat's out of the bag as they say so now I will try to explain in more detail. My visa for NZ runs out on November 4th. I may or may not get it extended depending on the circumstances. Either way I will be hopping the ditch over to Oz when I leave here. I intend to get a one year Working Holiday Visa for there. When that is up I will move up to Asia.I would like to travel Southeast Asia bec

Ok when I have more time to figure this out I will look more into this situation with the travelblog meltdown. Apparently I can restore my entries but at the moment I don't have the time or patience to search out exactly what I have to do.What I was going to write before I discovered this was...
If anyone is reading this expecting it to be a proper travel blog. Sorry. I'm not so much travelling as just living. This blog is for family and friends to keep up with me. I haven't been writing lately because I don't know what to write about because I'm not travelling or seeing any new sights or doing any crazy adventure things.I am however having loads of fun. I may be working a lot but my work

Auckland and a mild kiwi rant.

I know that in previous posts I said that I didn't feel stuck in Auckland and that I actually wanted to be there. I have to say that I definitely do regret not leaving it sooner to see more of the country during the summer months. I think I would be far more satisfied with my trip if I would've seen and done more while it was summery and sunny. Mainly I think I'm missing not getting more beach tim

Edit These pics were in a different entry... but I think this is just going to have to do...I'm getting my camera back from Anny tonight. It's been a bit more than two weeks and it has been noticeable. There have been more than a few times when I really wish I had it with me. It's alright though that's life. Also we're going to be discussing the plans for me moving in with her. Very soon Two

Cat arrived on Tuesday last week and of course we went out dancing nearly straight away. The next day we walked around town and I showed her the local ice rink. As it turns out they have competitive games every Wednesday. Well that was our night sussed. It was really nice to sit on the bleachers watching people battle over a puck. Reminiscent of the old days when Friday night hockey games were our

Except I for sure have a job. I just have to wait until it snows which would mean I could start my job early. If it doesn't I have to wait until the 18th. I will be a room attendant and we're awaiting the burst of tourists. Tomorrow I go in to fill out my contract. My flat is turning out to be fairly nice although it's a bit of a walk to the grocery store 2025 minutes. It's actually a house with
