Sunshine and Snow in Crested Butte

My husband, our two children, (aged 10 and 8), and myself have decided we want to have a skiing vacation. We’re all absolute beginners and we’ve chosen to go to Crested Butte, largely because the mountain resort, has a combined area at their Ski and Ride School where adults and kids are instructed together, so we can learn in the same place and have fun as a family. There is also an Adventure Park at the base area, which the children will love. It’s got a synthetic ice rink, a climbing wall, and a bungee trampoline. We are a non-skiing family but we want that to change! My husband, our two children, and myself are keen to learn and we have picked Aspen as our destination. The two main reasons are that we’ve read it is one of the best places for beginners in the US and there are more off snow activities and nightlife than at any other resort. My husband’s parents are accompanying us and have offered to babysit, to give us a break. There are four main ski areas in Aspen and we’ve chosen the smallest one, Buttermilk Mountain, because it’s recommended for the novice and has a separate area for beginner’s lessons. Fun in the Snow at Vail, Colorado

I am quite a good skier, I guess you’d say, intermediate, and so is my partner. We want a vacation that combines our love of skiing and fun for our kids too. They are aged 6 and 4 and we have chosen Vail for our break because it caters well for young kids. The Vail Ski Resort, is the largest in the country and that means there is lots of space. I can’t wait to get out on that powder snow. Vail also gets a lot of sunshine, so it seems the perfect destination. We intend to spend a few days skiing and the rest of the time exploring the town and joining in with the family activities. Family Fun In Breckenridge, Colorado

My partner and I are quite experienced skiers but our kids, aged 8 and 6, have never skied before. I’m very keen for us to have a nice family skiing vacation and I can’t think of anywhere better than at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. There’s lots of different terrain and 155 trails to choose from. We can do our thing whilst the kids join the Ski and Ride School. There are lots of impressive facts about this ski resort but I think the one that impresses the kids the most is that Breckenridge has the highest chairlift in North America. Park City, Utah - Here We Come!

My husband, our two kids, and myself have wanted to try out skiing for a long time so we looked for a resort that has a reputation for being kid friendly and has a good school for beginners. The Park City Mountain Resort, ticks all the boxes. It’s said to be one of the best destinations for novices and children and I particularly liked their guarantee of small groups with no more than 5 people for lessons. Our kids can go into the group for 6-14 years of age. So, that’s the plan and we’re going with extended family in February 2010 for our winter adventure.
