And look what we came home to It39s cold and there39s a dusting of snow on the ground though the trees I can see from my office window are still covered with green and yellow leaves. Go figure. Roberta whose cold is still lingering went out to pick up a pizza for our supper last night and was shocked to the marrow of her bones by the cold.Still it was good to sleep in our own bed last n

We had a 4hour layover in Winnipeg so we took advantage of a city tour that Via arranged with a local bus company. Invariably I find these tours are a great source of historical information about a city and this one was no exception. We visited the legislature a beauiful sculpture garden the grave of Louis Riel and a church driving through many interesting neighborhoods along the way. Many p

We woke up this morning to find the sun shining a little bit and our colds abated somewhat so we decided to take advantage of the good conditions while they lasted and headed off to drive the Gatineau Parkway. What a trip down memory lane to be in these hills amid the fall colors with the sun dashing in and out I remember many hikes up to the Belvedere Lookout in company with different fam

This actually consisted of two trains. The first from Quebec City to Montreal was very impressive Instead of the usual four seats across it had only three two on one side and one on the other. The best I could do was Edmundston NB. SighWe39ve had the extraordinary good luck to be here for the absolute best of the fall colors. We came east at this time of year in par

The planned whale watching didn39t take place until late afternoon due to high wind early this morning. However when Roberta and I discovered the boat was a zodiac we opted to stay on dry land in a gesture of respect for our lower spines Zodiacs are quite bumpy even in good weather. The f

At 800 this morning our tour guide Ryan picked us up at the hostel and together with five other adventurers we set out for Cape Breton Island. Adventurers is the appropriate term too. This is a bunch of travel aficionados most of whom are at least two decades younger than we are. The conversation all the way to Cape Breton was about people39s travel adventures. One young woman on this tour

We woke this morning to the sound of a fog horn sea gulls and crows three of the most pleasant sounds in the world at least to our ears. I find it amusing that I so love the sound of sea gulls when I usually find their presence annoying as when picnicking on the beach when they are trying to steal my foodIt39s another foggy day in Halifax and in a few minutes we will be leaving on a bus

But it39s quite foggy so there are no views available to speak of. We39ve been out and about a bit but haven39t strayed far from Barrington Street.We39ve had an exciting morning nevertheless. After breakfast we walked up to the Gray Coach kiosk thinking we39d take the hoponhopoff bus but it wasn39t running today no cruise ship in port so we took the 3hour city tour instead. It was very interesting including a walk through the beautiful Halifax Public Gardens a stop at the cemetery where 121 Titanic victims are buried and a q
