| 11th September 2009 Dave Saum | how to grow dwarf baobabs? - From: Ile de la Madeleine Thanks for your great blog and pictures of Ile de la Madeleine. I recently bought some seeds on eBay from the dwarf baobabs on Madeleine island and I want to grow them inside my home near Washington, DC. I have grown some East African baobabs that are now 2 meters tall indoors after 3 years, and they have to hibernate every year due to their origins in East Africa where there is a dry season every year. I stop watering my baobabs from November to April every year so that they drop their leaves and go into hibernation. I have read that they will die without this hibernation. Now I wonder if the Madeleine dwarf baobabs need the same hibernation? I see from your pictures that there were no leaves on the trees when you were there. So that suggests there is a yearly hibernation for these West African boababs. Can you give me any information on this? Thanks, Dave (you can email me at: dsaum at infiltec dot com) |
| 15th April 2009 Uwargida | Photos - From: Niger March 2009 Those are my favorite photos too. I love photographing babies and old people - anywhere in between doesn't interest me much! My fascination with elderly people is like yours with clotheslines! |

| 8th April 2009 Uwargida | Thanks! - From: Niger March 2009 I am so happy to see your comment; not that you cried, but that you were touched as well. It was an amazing experience for me - once again I feel blessed and energized. Sometimes it is difficult to feel that one's work can make any difference at all, but little victories keep us going! Hugs~! |

| 7th April 2009 Uwargida | Give me a break! - From: Africa Moment #16 But, I guess that somewhere out there some lazy unemployed guy is sitting on his couch eating Doritos and sees that commercial and hope is restored! Even he can afford the three bucks for the soap that will answer all his prayers! No longer in Mali and I haven't seen the britches here, but if I run across any I'll pick you up a pair! :) |

| 30th March 2009 Amanda | Axe... New in the US - From: Africa Moment #16 Axe products are new here, and the marketing is that the ladies flock to men who use it. Perhaps that's what the soap+man=woman (squared). There's one commercial where the women physically STICK to men who use the body spray. *gag* PS, I think I want somma those Obama britches. |
| 29th March 2009 jillsare | these are great - From: Africa Moment #16 exactly why we choose to live in foreign countries...so much to giggle about! |

| 3rd December 2007 Uwargida | How A.D.D. are you, Mom? - From: Keagan's First Love Note I think it is hysterical that I'm writing about my boy's first love note and all you notice is the furniture! Ha! Yes, that is Meemer's settee recovered! I did the egg chair in the same fabric. I didn't like the trim he put on it though so he agreed to change it, but I haven't found any I like thus far. |

| 16th October 2007 Uwargida | Dancing Ladies - From: To Share some recent photos Yep! Hurts just looking at 'em flying all over the place. But they can kick their legs way up beside their ears! It actually amazes me because most of the traditional dancers are a little on the fat side so you wonder how they can do it; it is very physically challenging I'm sure! |
