Hey guys We stayed in the Huon Valley with some friends we made at Fortesque Bay. Mum went with Lisa to the taste of Houn festival. We went to Beauty Point and visited Platypus world and Seahorse world. Did you know that a platypuses eggs are at least a centimeter and that seahorses suck their food through their mouth cause they cant open it. We got on the Spirit of Tasmania and yelled out.... BYE TASSIE.... back to vic. Almost to melbourne we saw some guys jet skiing behind the ship and the police were after them, the first man saw [View Full Entry]

Almost to tassie
Almost to tassie
How much longer.
What a great way to arrive in Tassie, on board the Spirit of Tasmania. An exciting adventure for the girls especially as we were upat 5.30am down to Port Melbourne to board the ship. There were plenty of activities provided to entertain us for 10 hours, we managed to get in a couple of drinks in one of the many bars! Spent the night in Devonport then found a great campsite in the little seaside town of Penguin. We were camped right on the beach and stayed for three nights. From here we day tripped to Levens Canyon, very speccy, we [View Full Entry]

"Copy cat from Ballarat went to school and got the strap", We used to say that when we were kids. We have been doing lots of day trips from Bendigo. Anita tooks us to Malden and Daylesford to visit lots of great shops! Kris did't think they were so great but he enjoyed a pie and was very patient. We visited Castlemaine and took the girls to the butterfly sanctuary, had a lovely picnic in the Botanical Gardens. Things are pretty dry here though and most places have severe water restrictions. We went to Torquay {Bells Beach} for the day with [View Full Entry]

Days like this don't happen often enough
Well, its a sad day today. We left our little Jakey at school in Melbourne. He is happy to be their and the school is fantastic. He does his football training 4 times a week and the school football team is associated with the Western Bulldogs. They train at Victoria University and the school itself has great facilities. A 50 metre indoor pool, huge gym, Tennis courts and being built this year indoor badminton courts, basketball courts, spa and sauna, Rehab and fitness testing room. The biggest government development for a specialist sports school in Aust. Also very multi cultural. The [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, we haven't updated for a while so here goes. Stopped to look at Tantanoola caves on the way to Mt Gambier, they were very specy. Pulled up in Mt Gambier for a few days, lots to see here. The history of the volcanoes is quite amazing. It makes you feel quite insignificant in the big picture. The last time there was any volcanic activity was 4,600 yrs ago. Mt Gambier crater is now filled with water the most amazing blue color. We circumnavigated the crater, about 3.8 kms. Mt Gambier town has 2 large caves right in the city [View Full Entry]

After dragging the boys through all the touristy shops in Hahndorf we ate lunch at the German Arms Hotel. We were brought a feast of Bratwurst, Kransky,Weisswurst sausages, saurkraut and Rhine potatoes, washed down with stein of german beer. A ridiculous amount of food and we were stuffed. I went for an hours run that night to work it off. The next two nights were spent at Little Dip Conservation Park. Where the beaches were very rocky but they were a very aqua blue colour. Still we caught no fish not that it was a surprise. About 500m walk from where we [View Full Entry]

BURRA

Oceania » Australia » South Australia » Clare
The little town of Burra took my fancy.Lots of beautiful old stone buildings and houses all restored to original condition. The town began in 1847 when copper was discovered in the Burra creek, which we camped on. We did the heritage trail of the mine and had a Fab Friday night bootscooting at the Burra Hotel. Taught the locals a few new moves! Kris and I left the kids at camp and drove to Clare Valley, stopped at a few wineries, art galleries and saw the catch of the local fox hunters. We drove onto Adelaide and went to the Central [View Full Entry]

Outside Tumby Bay Hospital after a lovely nights sleep, minus flies, sand with lovely hot showers and flushing toilets!
After spending a few days in Coffin Bay we made our way around the bottom of the Peninsula Through Port Lincoln to Tumby Bay. We camped about 30 kms north of Tumby Bay at Lincoln Cove. Almost got bogged going in, made it and camped right on the beach for 3 days. Had the whole beach to ourselves, dolphins in the cove and that is still the biggest fish Jake has caught. Had a bit of a drama here when Clancy had an allergic reaction either to the creamy garlic scollops I made or some native bushes, not sure, but had [View Full Entry]
