Camp at the Races
Camp at the Races
Four happy kids!
What a great weekend! We had Jess and Jake with us too, which made it even better. We camped at the race grounds along with 5000 others people, everyone had campfires and it was a great atmosphere. I worked in the bar for a few hours and then we got into the swing of the races. We had a few wins on the camels we backed- Loose Lips, Howlin Gale, and the Cup winner Ole Reggie Boy! Jake was very brave and was talked into entering the camel tagging competition. They put a wild camel in a yard, give you a [View Full Entry]

Hi Guys Have just driven 2,400 kms in the last 5 days. Drove to Airlie Beach to meet Jessie and stay with her on Hamilton Island. Spent a night in Charters Towers on the way and met Jess on her 19th Birthday. So great to see her. The ferry trip out to the island is amazing scenery. Arrived at the Hamilton Island Marina and was waiting to collect my bag when a very rude person crashed into me. I was just about to say what I thought, looked up and It was Jake. He, Ben and Kim flew up to surprise [View Full Entry]

Which one do you think I should ride in the camel race?
Well, I have turned the big 40 and yes I did have a little cry about that. Not ready to be forty, where did those thirties go!Anyway, life goes on and now I'm 40 and one week old. We spent my birthday mustering, draughting and branding over 1000 head of cattle at Cannington Station, 170 kms east of Westward Ho. Not exactly what I had planned. I was spoilt by complete strangers and had a nice day. There is a BHP mine on Cannington and we had dinner in the miners mess. Different , but hey I like surprises! Pip took [View Full Entry]

We have settled in here at Westward Ho. The girls have started school of the air, Mt Isa this week and have grasped the concept really well, not sure if the home tutor gets it all yet. The weather is still sunny, dry and dusty with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Speaking of sunrise, we are all up at daylight tomorrow to muster Dribbling Bore paddock. The girls are keen motorbike riders now and will be joining the muster tomorrow. They have been mustering in the plane and enjoy the dare devil ride of buzzing cattle out from under the trees, ducking [View Full Entry]

Drove off the Ship and Headed up the Coastline of Victoria, had a bit of a drive and arrived at midnight in Johnsonville at my god parents house. Thank goodness we were there for a couple of days as the weather was extremely hot. Their house is on the banks of the Tambo River, a very beautiful place. Thanks Merlyn and Bruce for having us. On the road again to the High Country to set up camp for Easter. Found a great free campsite at Victoria River Falls, Across the road from Cobungra Stn where the Geebung Polo match is held. Almost to tassie
Almost to tassie
How much longer.
What a great way to arrive in Tassie, on board the Spirit of Tasmania. An exciting adventure for the girls especially as we were upat 5.30am down to Port Melbourne to board the ship. There were plenty of activities provided to entertain us for 10 hours, we managed to get in a couple of drinks in one of the many bars! Spent the night in Devonport then found a great campsite in the little seaside town of Penguin. We were camped right on the beach and stayed for three nights. From here we day tripped to Levens Canyon, very speccy, we [View Full Entry]
