Uncommonlyjulz - Julie

I just graduated from Cornell University. I'm spending a gap year Australia before moving on to Law School (school is to be determined, we'll see how I did on my very recent LSATs)!

Star City

Janice, Cindy, Me, Jes, Sam
It was an eventful weekend. On the 15th of March I went with the girls (Jes, Cindy, Janice, and Sam) to Star City Casino, which is the only casino in New South Wales. We dressed up, gambled a bit, and paid a little too much for our cocktails, but hey, isn't that what gambling and casinos are all about? For St. Patrick's Day I went out with Jes and Virginia on a little pub crawl. We started with dinner and a pint at Scruffy Murphy's, then we went downstairs and listened to some crazy Irish karaoke with a transvestite MC. Our [View Full Entry]

St. Patty's Day
St. Patty's Day

I went to the Blue Mountains for a day trip. It was a sort of sampler trip, I saw a lot in a really short amount of time. We boarded a nice tour coach at 8am and proceeded to visit Sydney Olympic Park, Featherdale Wildlife Park, Wentworth Falls, Leura, The Three Sisters and Katoomba Scenic Railway. [View Full Entry]

Sorry for the lack of updates! A lot has been going on to prevent me from writing. The first week of March was both catastrophic and great. My computer crashed and I lost everything, fortunately I backed up before I left the USA and the backup is safe and sound at home. The building I live in has also experienced a rash of mail theft and bank fraud which my flatmate Jes and I fell victim to. On the upside I joined a Pilates/Yoga/Dance studio and the classes are a great and enjoyable workout. [View Full Entry]

Sydney Uni started up today and my first day was FABULOUS! Before class Jes and I went to campus and all over to buy books and a couple other necessary school supplies. Then we got delicious iced coffees at a cafe on campus. I find it interesting that Australians don't seem to believe in drip coffee...everywhere you go there is fancy lattes and cappuccinos and iced coffees and they don't appear to have anything except espresso...YUM :D Most of my tutorials don't start the first week so I only had Australian Art, Film, and Theatre today. The class reminds me [View Full Entry]

Today started as a slow day in. I woke up around 9:30 am and just bummed around with my flatmate Jes while talking to family and friends from home online. Instead of seizing the day I was busy being concerned with what was going on with people at home. Finally decided to go out and Jes and I met up with Cindy and Janice to go to the Sydney Harbour and The Rocks. Upon arrival at the harbour Jes and I were taken by the jet boats! I went on a jet boat almost 5 years ago with my Dad in [View Full Entry]
