Bula!! Once arriving at LAX airport I was pleased to hear the good old British accent again. While checking in I requested a window seat on the plane, however I ended up getting a window seat without and a window?! But I did have all 3 seats to myself. The 10,5 hour flight did drag as I couldn't sleep I was very excited about moving onto my next destination but also very anxious about the fact that 1- I was on my own 2-I hadn't arranged where I was staying in Fiji I have to say that it was all really easy, I managed to book myself into Nananu Island Lodge (A small island off the north coast of Viti Levu-main Island) for 4 nights. Throughout my 5 days in NY I was lucky enough not to have any of the predicted rain, it actually only started raining just as I was boarding my airport transfer, how lucky was I. However I wasn't lucky when the bogey man got me.. I don't know how I managed to catch a cold but I bought some strong cold and flu tablets and took the maximum dose just before boarding my 6 hour flight to LA which knocked me out completely...I didn't even get to have my flight meal.. not sure that that's such a big loss. My backpack which originally weighed 15kg seemed to gain weight by the time I checked in at the airport making it 18kg! It was those last minute bits... I am so going to suffer but at least I won't be without anything?! It was hard saying my goodbyes I ended up staying in the departure lounge with mama and Meral literally till the very last minute, I was actually the last person to board the plane, I had my name announced and everything!.. At take off I sniffled a little but the guy sitting next to me started choking on his water so I got distracted and before I knew it we were in the air. Hi Everyone!!! Can you believe that this time tomorrow I will be on my adventure. I am very nervous and feeling very disorganized...everything is everywhere!! I have almost finished packing and have got my back pack weighing 15Kg.. (not bad I thought considering I have 3 pairs of shoes, 7 tops, 3 skirts, 2 pairs of 3 ¾ length trouser, flippers, snorkel/mask, toiletry bag with everything you can think possible in it (yes Liz even all your bits!!), sleeping bag and last but not least 2 pairs of bikinis..) I have bought an England t-shirt just for the occasion as I thought I'd support our team during the matches or when I'm missing home.. Only 17 days to go.... In turn I am seeing all my friends and saying my farewells. I know I'm only going for 6 months but I have never been away from my friends and family for more than 2 weeks!!!! People keep asking me 'am I excited' and to be honest I think I am more anxious than excited. Tickets all booked and recieved. All I need to do now is pack my bag!!! I have listed my routing and rough dates to give you all an idea where I will be. My two best mates gave birth within a space of a week of each other. My childhood friend Christine gave birth to baby Jack on the 16th March weighing 7lb 3oz. And Rhianne my Maldives friend gave birth to baby Dylon on the 23rd March weighing 6lb 2oz. As you may or may not know last week I was in an Amateur production of the musical ‘Me and My Girl’ performed at the Marlowe theatre in Canterbury. I didn’t have a principle role just an all singing, all dancing, and all acting maid. Me and Dominika went on a girlie holiday to Mexico. We arranged it through work and got one of the best 5* hotels in Cancun called the Moon Palace for the price of peanuts. It was an amazing place; 2 large size pools, 12 restaurants, jacuzi in the bedroom... full of luxuries you didn't even have to flash the toilet, it did it itself!! We had such a good time, we did alot of sunbathing, drinking and dancing. We made an effort and did one day of sight seeing, we hired a Jeep and drove to Tulum. (I of course made sure that I didn't have a hang over from the night before as I was driving!!) What can I say, I am a Sagittarian that is is full of life and out to explore the world :) I am who I am today through my travels, the people that have crossed my path and with my families endless support. Hope you enjoy reading my adventures as much as I enjoy living them.
