I seemed to have obtained a new habit of waking myself up (and other people in the dorm) by sneezing! I don't know why I suddenly have these fits where I'm all snot but this time I lost my nose stud... I wasn't really keen on going through my snoty tissues to find it, so a new one it was. The only problem was that the hole closed up and I had to pierce through it myself... ooouucchhh!! So the morning of the 18th Oct we had a birthday breakfast for Tony. He was feelig a little sick after his stack of pancakes and maple syrup... He should really be watching his sugar intake after all he is an old man now... he he.. We decided that we wanted to extend our time with Priscilla and ... read more

When we got to the car rental depo little did we know that it was our lucky day! Not only was the relocation price from $25 a day dropped down to $1 a day, we also had our car upgraded to a Nissan Primera. After saying our goodbyes and thank yous to John and Sheila we packed up 'Priscilla' and set out on our 3 day Great Ocean Road trip. The first day we drove from Adelaide to Mt Gambier. I was still in the Wicked van lifestyle and suggested we slept in the car to save on cost. It didn't help not being abled to find any campsites so we parked on a quite country road... NOT! It turned out to be the route for road trains transporting logs to a nearby depo every 30 ... read more

After a bizarre detour of a flight to Adelaide I met up with Tony. He was staying with relatives in a town 30mins out of Adelaide called Gawler. John, Sheila and Sam the dog were all very kind and welcomed me to there home. It has been a long time since I have been in a homely environment so I was very relaxed and mellow. I didn't have drawbacks that come with staying in a hostel dorm with 4-8 other people in the room, that's why I ended up sleeping till midday for the whole 5 days I was there!! We did have the opportunity to pop into Glenelg (the coastal part of Adelaide) where we ate fish n' chips while watching the sunset. I also got to catch up with Cyndy my old matey from ... read more

The tenth day of our road trip was one of the most random nights when we got chatting to a tour guide at a petrol station. His group was really boring so he invited us to stay at the farm they were staying at that night and let us have some of their dinner!! So obviously we agreed and me, Laura, the tour guide and one of the blokes from the farm stayed up drinking wine till about 1. We also had the opportunity to hold a joey. We mentioned to Glenn (tour guide) that we were going to Kalbarri the next day so he gave us the number of his mate who would put us up for the night. His name was Dino and he was a dude!!! He let us drink his beer and ... read more

We are adapting well to the hippy lifestyle where we sleep in our van which is quite comfy and we have a little gas cylinder to cook our food on and a little sink to wash up. We are not going to always stay at caravan parks as it costs money so we'll stay at campsites instead. But that means we have to make the most of washing in rivers or even better the sea. We have decided to not wash our hair throughout our trip and so far it's not looking bad.... On our fourth day after some more rock climbing (well kinda) in Karijini National Park we drove 4 hours solid to reach a road house but got beaten by the sun and all the animals started emerging from their homes. We came across ... read more

We arrived at the Wicked van depo in suspense to what design would be on our van. Having only seen an Elton John van sitting out the front (don't mind him but the picture was dodgy) we were a little disheartened, however, we were then led out to the back where our little "Sheila" was waiting for us!!! The design on the van was neither Elvis nor Spongebob, it was a passive choice of "Wicked" written on eitherside and the quote on the of "It's only kinky the first time" on the back :) Just perfet for us... Having not properly thought out a plan of our route and not purchased a map we set out on our 16 day road trip from Broome down the West Coast to Perth. We decided there was no point ... read more

After a 13 hour night journey on the Greyhound bus we arrived in Broome, so be it if we are 2 weeks behind schedule, killed a national symbol and done some fruit picking during this time... We have now officially made it to the West Coast!! We had the choice of staying in the town or on the beach. The toss of a coin predicted it was the beach, so Cable Beach backpackers it was. We were anxious to check out the beach but were in need of a snooze, we didn't realise how tierd we were cos we ended up sleeping alday!! The beautiful white sandy of Cable beach 27km long, it is occassionally overrun by jelly fish but thank God it's not sting rays (RIP Steve Irwin) And there is even a nudist part ... read more

After having faith brought us to Kununurra, a small farming town, we thought it was only right to try out some harvest work. Laura is trying to extend her year work visa to 2 years by doing 3 months of agricultural work and I would like to keep my options open so I thought I would try extending my visa too, plus I need the money so how hard can it be? We were told pumkin and melon picking was hard so we opted to work on a corn farm instead. It was a 5.30am start to 4.00pm finish with one 15min and one 30 min break throughout the day under 38 degrees + heat detassling, hoeing, picking and packing corn. It was so full on and me and Laura found it hard to stay focused ... read more

Our road trip was cut short and there is a long story to it... so here it goes... Saturday morning we finally left Darwin, 2 hours behind schedule but so excited about what lay before us. Our campervan was sooo cool!! It slept 4 people but there was only two of us so we had lots of space. We had stocked up on food and even had two mascots with us, Garfield and Willieroo the rabbit. I drove first until we got to Katherine. We bought a cd to keep us going "Songs for my rig", possibly the most awful trailor trash cd ever!!! Anyway Laura then had a go at driving and considering she hadn't driven for a year she was pretty good!! We had planned an itinerary that would see us camp at a ... read more

What happens when you work, play and drink too hard? a) you have alot of good memories b) you're exhausted c) you're not short of cash cos you get men to buy you drinks d) all of the above With no hesitation I would tick option (d) for Darwin!!! I feel like I'm living a second teenhood! No one actually believes my age anyway so I'm just going to make the most of it!!! However saying that my active lifestyle has got the better of me and I am now taking a course of injections (in my bottom!) to cure my tonsilitis!! Ouch!!... I blame it on all the aircons!!! In the past 2 weeks I have been working as a waitress at an Italian restaurant called Chianti's. I haven't done hospitality work in years so ... read more
