All was good that I managed to get down the coast from Mission Beach in time for my sailing trip however on route I missed out a few places. I debated whether I should go back on myself but then I thought when will I be able to do Magnetic Island and possibly even go back upto Mission Beach to see Alissa again?? So I decided to travel back up the coast and move in my own way!.. I traveled upto Townsville to catch the ferry across to Magnetic Island for 3nights. I meet a good bunch of people and [View Full Entry]

We had a refreshment after our long walk

Having enjoyed my time with Alissa at Mission beach I stayed longer than planned, 5 days later I had to catch the express bus down to Airlie Beach to do my prebooked Whitsundays sailing trip. I was on a 26 passenger boat called the Broomstick which I sailed 3 days and 2 nights. There was a big Oz Experience group, a few couples, the odd single and little old me. I got the short end of the stick and I ended up having to share ‘dungeon’- smallest cabin, with the Skipper! I felt so claustrophobic that I slept on top [View Full Entry]

After 12 hours of traveling I arrived back in Oz! My flight from Christchurch went via Sydney arriving in Cairns at 11pm. I managed to check into a hostel before passing out from exhaustion. I stayed in Cairns for a total of 4 nights. My hostel was just on the Esplanade over looking the sea you're not allowed to swim (Cos it's jellyfish season) and a lagoon that is man made. Despite the tropical weather conditions of humidity and heavy rain showers I thought Cairns was a nice city. I didn't really go out in the evenings, however I met [View Full Entry]

My final chapter of New Zealand was concluded by traveling from Dunedin - Queenstown - Christchurch - Kaikoura and back to Christchurch. Nothing exciting really happened when transferring from these places except for a drastic weather change. Believe it or not it proper snowed and covered the roads, a south westerly wind from Antarctica was apparently the reason, luckily it only lasted two days and was back to full sunshine again in time to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in the beer garden! On my list of things I wanted to do in my life was to swim with dolphins and I [View Full Entry]

So my adventures of the bottom section of the south island began after spending the night in Tuatapere. The following morning we went on a farm trip where we fed baby lambs, sheered sheep and petted Wally the pig! When I was in the north island I had gone to a sheep show in hope to sheer a sheep but they didn't let you so I was well chuffed that I had the opportunity to do so this time. The poor sheep had loads of little nicks from where people had slipped the sheers. But I was assured that it was [View Full Entry]

Having never done a bungy in my life and not wanting to do things by half I decided to do the 134 metre high wire bungy with 8.5 seconds of freefall, it is the highest in New Zealand and the second highest in the world. I was thankful to have a bungy bud, Myles (between friends known as Frank Butcher) to give me that encouragement to step off the edge.. They did it in weight order and out of 20 in our group I was second to last so I had to sit there and watch everyone commit controlled suicide! I [View Full Entry]

Getting tied up!
The jump
Don't look down!!!

My south island adventures started when I booked myself onto a hop on hop off tour bus called 'Stray'. How it works is that there are Stray buses that go to selected destination each day therefore you can spend however many days you want in each place and get picked up by the next bus. There is a recommended itinerary where you can actually stay with one driver so I'll see how it goes. I have got this crazy Welsh female driver called Nads and met a great bunch of people whom I hung out with; Katie, Myles, Andy, Dave and [View Full Entry]

After saying my goodbyes to my boyz it was time for me to move on. Tony will be flying to Fiji and the others will be making their way down to the south island where I hope to meet up with them again in the near future. Meanwhile I wanted to pop over to the east coast and stay 1 night in a city called Napier. So I set out on a 5 hour bus journey from Taupo to Napier. Once I got there I got myself booked into a prison... 'no' I didn't get locked up I voluntarily checked myself [View Full Entry]

The city of Wellington

After a 5 hour coach journey we travelled from the Bay of Islands down to Rotorua. Now it's true what people say about Rotorua being smelly. I was convinced my dorm room was smelling odd cos of the 5 men in my room but I was wrong, it was the sulphur fumes coming from the thermal pools all around the city.. So our first day in Rotorua was spent seeing the geographical sights including Lady Knox geyser which is predicted to go off every 48-72 hours, however it was discovered that if you put ordinary soap powder down the mouth of [View Full Entry]

I packed my bags, bandaged my broken toe and set out on my adventures to the Land of the Long White cloud. After a 3 hour flight I met up with Tony in Auckland and we made a list of places we wanted to see and things we wanted to do in the next few weeks. We will be travelling the north island together and then go our seperate ways to next meet in England again. Our New Zealand travels started with a 2 night pitt stop in Auckland doing some sight seeing and recuperating from my recent shenanigans. We then [View Full Entry]
